That looks similar to this one in progress: http://community.webshots.com/album/525849414zSEbht?start=48 Although the rear cab shape is different and of course this one doesn't seem to be done.

phpBB is free, opensource, but is also included in many host packages along with items such as WordPress (blog) and PostNuke as well as e-commerce drop in solutions etc. It looks something like: Although each hosting company has slightly different offerings. It's very nearly homogeneous on the web these days - basically if you're not running your own PC as a server OR don't have a custom ground-up website built on your company's in house server, you probably have fantastico as part of your package. I'm sure your eyes are glazing over just like your relatives' at Thanksgiving when you start going into the ring gear in a Dana 44 thing, or coils vs. leaves, spring over spring under... so I'll can it for now.

I don't think it's worth buying something. This works fine and 1000s of people use it too. There are dozens of packages for forums out there so picking one at random isn't necessarily better. You're always going to find some pro-this or pro-that people, as well as anti-this/that. All the posts are just in a mySQL database so it's simple (given access to the DBs and a wee bit-o knowledge) but why bother? I think this is working pretty fine for being included in the hosting.
-
It's probably one config file the kid got into or one config screen. If you want help undoing this Pete let me know. No reason to do a DB restore since the changes are largely cosmetic. Jeremiah

Yeah, and, uh, shouldn't the fat tires go in back?! There is a nice frame drop MJ build that you should check out in the projects. I think cutting the bed wells out and stuffing some fatty slicks under there would be cool. Not sure how much you can get between the frame, but that and those skinnys up front would be pretty cool. Is it a D44 rear or something else? The no flare treatment is interesting too.

Nothing on the build but here is how it sits on 32s: The front: Actually I forgot to include the metric coupler nuts that make the sway bar extensions... The rear:

Um, you have to buy the ticket before the drawing... :D I had a pair of used coil spacers that are basically a ~4" cut pipe with a large washer shape tack welded to one end. The end without the washer fits over the curvey part at the top of the column and the hole in the washer fits over the column. They came off an MJ, but I re-used them on the back of my TJ with a center of transmission mount drop pucks and a stock rubber XJ spacer to keep the spring from being sloppy. I haven't done any hard wheeling but I've flown it over some speed bumps and some other stuff that has me stopped worring about it coming apart. If you put something like this together for the front you'd have the column so it'd be even better. I did the whole lift from spare XJ/MJ parts and the only thing that cost me was the bolts in the back - $2.77 all told.
-
Woops someone didn't take the camera off niteshot. To take anything else off you need to start cutting. I never really understood the ACOS thing... seems like a lot of money for something that's pretty easy once it's been apart. Not that I find taking the front apart fun or anything but I'd rather put the money towards a bumper or a winch and put an extra inch in in anticipation.
-
I don't have ACOS but they look like they go on like poly coil spacers which is over the upper spring column thingy. Unload the springs (more space for the pipe wrench) Pipe wrench off your bump stops Drop the axel (remove this and that) AND / OR compress springs Slide the ACOS over the column (maybe remove the stock bushing?) Reassemble I'll go get a pic of a bare column here...

Anyone planning on going? I've got a trailer full of junk from a local swap meet and I'm thinking of heading down to Cleves. http://www.gravelrama.com/iok/swapmeet.htm I might have my MJ up for sale too. Anyway just curious if anyone was planning on selling or buying there, if anyone has been there in the past etc. Jeremiah

I always though the opposite. In extreme opposite, setting it on a pencil set sideways seems like it'd wrap horribly. Yeah, more leverage but you're further out on the lever so less force...

You have to keep it oiled properly. I ran my K&N on the roof in pouring rain with no shield for about 3 hours and didn't have any indication of water going in the line or other problems. My thought is more along the lines of once one half is coated in solid mud it's not going to breathe. I agree that putting the whole thing underwater is a bad idea, but of course a shield isn't going to help with that. :smart:
-
Are you going to put any kind of shield between the K&N and the engine? Mine looks similar on my 2.5 and I'm thinking I'm going to be flinging a lot of mud and water that way with the fan so the shield is something I'm going to work up. Just wondering if you had similar plans?

I so want to have boys when I have kids. :D

No the 2.8L starter is different than the 2.5 L - they're not even similar. I have a nice 2.8L starter if anyone wants it! I also have a starter off a 4.0L if anyone wants that.

Removing siezed wheels.
jage replied to Kenosha Warrior's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The grand I stripped had 'luminum rims and one of the nuts sheared between the bezel and the hex, so there was a 2-3 mm bezel effectively welded to the alumnium deep in the hole. The price for the grand was returning the wheels so I just cut the rear axle off and returned the whole thing. The guy eventually had to use a hole saw through the alumnium rim just to sell the tires. -
idiot light question for an idiot i guess!
jage replied to Weezel's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I don't know about Weezel but around here there is a shop called Warner Spring. Most of their business is in dumptruck and other large truck springs, but they'll whip up a spring pack or rearch springs or whatever. The only down side is they don't really know Jeeps so they tend to think in terms of massive weight. But anyway, there might be some kind of spring shop in your neck that wouldn't think too much of whipping up some leaves. -
My latest axle build/swap and front leaf conversion

Dirty, Are you going across the spring hangers with something or just leaving them? Even a small cross piece would be a lot sturdier. Just my 2ยข -
Personally I went straight to the Atlas II. Wish I'd gotten the higher ratio - but the guys I wheel with didn't have much crawl beyond stock I went with the 3.8 because I needed to keep up. My thought was not buying an SYE is like a $300 coupon... My only regret besides going with the 3.8 is that the input is for an AX5 (21 spline I think?) and AX15s are 23 so it wouldn't fit on my TJ. It's one of the reasons I put my old AX5 behind the 2.5L instead of buying an AX15 to do a 4.0L swap on the MJ -- now the $300ish kit to change the input splines is too much. Don't quote me on the spline counts.

For the holes I'd just make even flat metal and then find out where the low spot is in your design. Assuming it's not backed by anything there, drill with a hole saw that fits either a plug from a boat store or a TJ plug. There are a lot of people who just leave them out of their TJs so maybe you can get some that way. As far as the heat shield, I've never used POR15, but in my XJ I used herc on the repaired floor and in the foot wells threw down some Husky liners. Before the Husky's went in, I put a 3/4" thick light blue exercise mat from the firewall to the middle of the front seats and just to the floor on each side over the hump. That was covered by a thin black rubber mat (for what originally I don't remember) that was slightly bigger and went all the way back into the rear. Water and mud did get under and between the blue mat and dried but it never got funky and the husky liners pull right out. I don't think rust would be a problem, per se, because all the saltwater tracked in goes on or under the huskys and unless you submerged the hump or sprayed directly up under it most of the mud and water stayed out.

I put this on my 3.4L and didn't change a thing except to plug some hoses and attache others to the breather: Always ran fine, although as you can guess I had no clue what I was doing

So.. the next question is how much are you charging to make and ship these to each of us?

Roof racks you can put stuff on... so yeah. Crome makes you look like a cheesy ricer poser... so yeah (works like it's supposed to I guess) As far as snorkles... http://www.jeepforum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=269764 Although I'm totally with you that most of the people I see just put snorkles on for looks. A lot of roof racks and lightbars as well are just for show. Here's (was) my snorkle- It's all utility, although in retrospect I should have had it chromed:

my curved XJ seats were high but I didn't notice any off-centering. if you're 5'10" or less the height would probably be a bonus.. um.. why don't the MJ buckets have MJ bucket brackets? I don't see why they wouldn't work. The front looks a little taller in the diagram, but that's assuming it's to scale.
-
curved swap in fine with bench seat brackets it's the power XJ seats that don't have any real bracket - it's all part of the seat and won't fit without effort...
