  2. indiana.... you title it, plate it and badda bing... I always say you could drive this if you put some taillights on it...
  3. those idiots... it doesn't come in solar yellow. they shouldn't use a solar yellow TJ. it's the coolest color and the JKs don't come in it. it's ironic that they have to change the color to make the ad... i don't know, some pics i really like the JK but i'm undecided about the JKL... i'm dying to see one in person so i can make up my mind!
  4. here are jaekl's brackets:
  5. i ran around with bfg 31"s on my 87 for years. stock jeep rims too.
  6. if you want pics of what the lift components are let me know ... got 'em laid out in the garage
  7. When you get a chance, please can you look and tell me how the skyjacker subframe fits with the extra bracing on the MJ frame lower control arm mounts? Does it sqeeze past or did the PO modify things somehow? Pics would be even better (now that you know how).
  8. That blue and grey cheormanche would be sweet if the frame was straight. Thanks for making me sign up to the yahoo group! D'oh!

You should be able to set email confirmation for this board. There is also a key code thingy built in (been at least 3 months since I set up a board - you know where you get a picture and have to copy the text to get an account. Keeps the automated ones down at least.... ummm.... here: http://www.brianpautsch.com/Blog/2005/12/1/Captcha/Default.aspx
  13. 135K miles out of a grand I'm trying to sell it locally... http://www.jage.com/offsite/jeepforum/forsale/engine/engine.htm I've listed it at $650 an no responses, been offered $100 for it sight unseen. I've got a guy in chicago interested, but there's one on ebay with a buy it now of $300 @ 167K so I'm wondering what I should ask for it for quick sale. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=200005517725&fromMakeTrack=true
  14. I don't think that's an MJ.... you'd be going the LOONG way to add to an MJ the short way to cut off some of an XJ... just guessing. Nice though.
  15. can you send me a pic in email? I'll post it
  16. Couple of intersting rigs come up if you put "jeep comanche rv" in google (no quotes) http://www.offroad.cz/pics/bazar/XJ_mach/86comm/02.jpg
  17. Using "it's not the fall that kills you it's the sudden stop" logic to justify jumping off a building doesn't make it smart!
  18. Yes, well I was assuming he wanted to put it back on to pass inspection. And don't forget the muffler hanger and e-brake bracket (at least that's how mine is)
  19. Your avatar can't handle another picture!

    whats it worth

I think the FCs are awesome. If it's really got no rust and runs good I'd say it's hard to lose, but I don't know the true values. There are some nice FC sites you can look at. You can always ebay it if you wind up not liking it. If you want snap some pics and email 'em to me.
  23. Don't forget you have to take the lip of the old rim off. IMHO I'm with pingpong, buy 'em or don't bother. If you're driviing at speed you could be risking your life on some info you got off a board. Certainly don't risk your life over anything I say... (can you say disclaimer?) I don't think the screws will work either. The first thing you have to ask yourself is "Do I really need beadlocks?" Keep in mind that they're aren't any DOT approved beadlocks. The second question is why do you need beadlocks? Beadlocks are mostly used for racing applications where you're twisting the rim inside the wheel because of high horsepower applied to pavement. I doubt your truck is that powerful... I don't see a blower or anything :D The sideways screws could work for this, btw. Otherwise you want them for low pressure. For snow or something running almost zero pressure I think the screws would work, if you put them in radially outward along the rim. Simply to keep the bead on. The sideways (parallel to the axle) screws would just get ripped out of the bead with a lot of sidewall force. For me, I was running a setup that was pulling the sidewall away from the rim under 19psi and stick shards and mud were getting caught in the bead. A pita to clean and the tires slowly leaked around the stuff. In this case the screws aren't going to help in either application, because neither protects the bead from opening. An even cheaper option for me would have been to buy 7" rims instead of 8" beadlocks, would have had the same effect. Or buying larger tires... really depends on your motivation. The only other reason that comes to mind is looks, and that's what they make all the look-a-like fake beadlock rims for. If that's what you're going for... well at least you're street legal that way. But other than that- crap rims and scrap metal, a shop and time to kill - go ahead. I'd make one and see how it turns out. I'd be really leery about driviing it at speed though. Again, you could wreck or die from a blowout.
  24. Look through the projects section of this site you'll find photos of the rear with the bed off. I'm told it's a pain to take the bed off- plus you're faceing rusted bolts at the least. There are other threads about taking the bed off... As for the inspection, we don't have inspections so I don't have a clue. I didn't know they inspected frames- or what they're looking for. Really your best bet is to post pictures of what you think won't pass inspection/needs repair and post you location so maybe someone in that same inspection area can give you more information.
  25. I don't remember exactly but I had discovered Jeepforum wasn't completely full of snobs and a**holes, and was posting over there. I've never been able to stand NAXJA or Pirate or any other boards so I was suprised to find myself posting and not totally pissed off in the first two days. Somebody, somehow mentioned ComancheClub.com and I wound up over here and found out MJer's aren't just like another bunch of XJ d**ks. I don't know if it's because they're more rare or this board just attracts the right kind of people, but I've heard it mentioned before by other people and it's certainly been the case in my experience. I'm sold on the MJ crowd. The real story was when I called up my local Jeep dealer asking about a throwout bearing for an MJ and they gave me the number of the only Jeep dealer in the country with the part in stock. I needed a measurement to make sure my kit had come in with the right piece, and wound up talking to some random Jeep dealer parts guy about it. He was explaining what to do to bleed the clutch properly and mentioned he owns a few MJs and lo and behold Turns out he's on this board too. What are the chances?
