  1. If you're going to take the coils out anyway you might as well drop a spacer in there... heh... :D
  2. Just don't say the floorboards were "perfect without a spot of rust" when you started ... that would probably kill me. :D

    yo ho ho!

I love the stack and the overhead lights... but mostly because it's not mine. :D I just wanted to chime in that I put 3 quarts of royal purple on my garage floor because the fill tube slipped out of the AX5 and I didn't check once I started filling because I was sitting on my cab floor trying not to get gored by bolts. I got a nice big stain and it cost me lots of $$$.
  4. Not sure that's what's meant by "Tech" :D Think of the wonderful usernames you could wind up with: "86878889909192MJComanches" Only 5 more MJs to collect, unless you want Long and SB in each year - or if you believe the czrap on Ebay, and then it's 6. Maybe you should just go with "MJComancheCollector" since you officially have a collection now!
  5. The 'manche I got from my dad had the same B&M shifter handle installed on the stick. I hated it... nice looking MJ tho. ...already a 4.0 manual and a 4wd... wouldn't that be nice (but not free like my basket case)
  6. Oh yeah and the ez-lockers don't last very long if you get water in the diff...
  7. There is FAQ software much like the forum software - the FAQ could live a slightly separate life on ComancheClub.com with a bit of hack and tap. It would certainly be easier to maintain and read.
  8. About the original post... The flex comes from the channel shape - what would you all think if stumpy boxed the full bottom? that way the stress isn't on the welds in the middle but carried through the full, now rigid, control arm? I'm thinking it would be more like building from scratch with square channel, and stumpy could watch for cracking along the boxing (non-critical failure) to indicate problems, as opposed to cracking along the join - which could easily become a critical failure of the whole member before noticed.
  9. I ran ez-lockers front and rear in my XJ for years with the vacuum disco replaced by cable. The only complaint is that I didn't like to unlock it on the trail because then 100% of the force is going on the connected axle. 2wd they're awesome, 4wd engaged they're awesome, but when it comes to tight turns... not so much. Also the guys in my club like the option of running open- it makes it a bit more challenging in the parts that your truck is way too much for. I never had that option. If you want to save money go ez-type locker in the rear and something that disengages in the front, the cheapest being the vaco disco.
  10. IDK about the rims, but everything else he says is clearly the truth. :D
  11. It was pretty obvious the plastic seats were going to be bad, but $50 each compared to $250+ each for other seats... well I thought maybe I could live with it for awhile. Can I come sit in your truck? :D
  12. The wiring seemed easy enough to do, a hot, a ground, and dome lights. He mentioned that the dimmer wires got cut because he didn't like it (skip it?), and that leaves the temp sensors, which is what you really need to figure out because somehow I doubt your 87 came with built in temp sensors. So, since I have one of these out of a Grand and this link now I'm thinking about doing it too - anyone know what is needed for temp sensors?
  13. You could BL the bed. (Actual advice I got from a fellow Jeeper  the other day )
  14. What about an "eazy out"? Can you use like a 1/4" drill and get enough of the body of the sender to get the eazy out to catch?
  15. Hard nothin, they're narrow. It's like they took another racing seat and copied the shape of the seat empty instead of copying it ocupado. You sit in one and suddenly $700/seat doesn't sound quite that bad. Anyway, called 4 wheel parts and they also want an outrageous $$ for shipping but what the heck I give up. Any guesses how much? $8.00 It just makes UPSs $116 that much more ridiculous. I'm going to start a business just so I can ship stuff on the cheap.
  16. I bought these: For $109.90 shipped OH to IN... figured if they were bad (they were ouch!) I'd just ship 'em back and eat like $30 for my trouble... Guess what? UPS wants $116 something to ship them back! And she couldn't understand why I didn't want to do it. They're only 24 lbs... and I went directly to the UPS dock too, not one of those UPS stores. FedEx wasn't much better, I guess it's because I'm just a walk-in and don't have a business contract. Anyway, I'm not paying near or more than I bought 'em for to return 'em. I'm calling 4wdhardware tomorrow see if they'll charge me for a pre-paid label to return them. If not I'll find somebody who ships at work who'll let me pay them. What a total PITA!
  17. I agree with all the take a break guys. And buy better tools. Wouldn't you rather have a cold saw than some pre-made bumpers?
  18. Nice and subtle.
  19. yeah that was my backup plan. luckily a little local hardware store had an old less automatic key grinder with different blanks. makes me feel like an old fart - I'm trying to explain to these kids at all the other stores that the keys should be square, no the other one, and round, and they don't believe me because they don't have blanks like that, and are sort of confused the whole time, with that questioning 'tude: "You like crazy? Like, don't all cars have just one key?" Reminds me- a few years ago I was in a bank and the teller called her manager because she'd never seen an old style $100 bill before... Now I *really* feel like a rambling old fart.
  20. Well I have yet to bleed and test the clutch... I may have to put your idea into action sooner than later (although as far as I can guess everything is AOK...)
  21. It's in. I put the bolts through the housing to make sure the length of exposed threads was consistent and then punched them through the bottom of an old kleenex box in order (a la the cardboard suggestion). Lining up the input shaft by yourself is a total :headpop: itch.
  22. My old manche (sold) had just glass no clip, no place for a clip (As far as I recall). The one I have now has a clip. Both are/were 3-pieces of glass. Also, I drove the old one up to Chicago once and the driver door lock was falling apart, so when I put the key in it was 1 time too many and it broke off. I slid the glass open and used a broom handle to pop the lock. It was a lifesaver and only took like 30 minutes. I wouldn't worry about it not having a clip. :) Speaking of keys (and because I'm a thread burglar  ) anyone hate the insta-key (Access+) version of the keys? Ignition key square with the hole in a corner and door key SQUARE too with a hole in the middle (the old ignition key shape). The old round door key shape is hard to find because almost all the stores and shops switched over to the Access+ machines. The Wal-mart of locksmithing... Since my dad just gave me 3 square keys with the truck, the old ignition and two door keys which were all indistinguishable, I went on a quest to find decent key blanks. Took me forever to find a place with actual round door keys, but I did so now I can tell them apart.
  23. I've seen whole cherokees just bolted on top of full size frames, engine, drivetrain and all. I thought doing that with a manche cab would be possible... maybe use the frame and stuff from from a JKL? But seriously, try running a 2.5L for a few years, then when you switch back to the 4.0 you'll think you've died and gone to HP heaven. That's my plan anyway :).
  24. Hrmmm. Don't have a dust shield at the moment. But thanks for the info.... we'll see how it goes
  25. You can save as a plain text file. The output isn't too bad and might suit your needs. Choose "Save As" from the file menu and set the type to Plain Text (IE Browser). All the browsers should have this option in some manner or another. Second thing you can do is get a copy of Adobe Acrobat. The real thing, not the reader. It allows you to print PDF files instead of printing to your printer. You can check the output before wasting ink and paper, and do some concatenation. Probably not worth it unless you can get a gold copy. Third thing is to set the printer to Landscape as that usually helps with printing web pages, although there is still no guarentee you will get everything to the right side. I guess then you start getting into things that aren't much better than copy/paste like saving the webpage as HTML and then opening it in MSWord... Anyway, hope this helps.
