  1. Dude....that thing is a SICK kind of clean!!
  2. I was gonna ask that too..lol. I am converting mine to 4x4 this week, so will have all the 2wd stuff left.
  3. Find an external slave bellhousing and swap them out....lol...never have to go through that again.

  5. Ok, I was misguided into thinking it had to be moved back. As far as the clocking...that is what a 20lb "persuader" is for. I plan on going to 4:10's....for now I just won't use 5th...lol... I actually have a line on the holy grail...an 84 XJ with 2.5 and the tow package...stock 4:56's. Just trying to get the guy to sell.
  6. So the internal slave on my AX4 went out...so... My question is this: I have been wanting to do a 4x4 conversion on my 87 2.5 SWB for a while, and I have a 94 YJ AX5 and 231 with external slave in my garage. Will the 95 YJ AX5 bolt up in place of my 87 AX4 without issue? It seems like it should...but just wanting to check with the knowledge base here before proceeding. Thanks p.s. I know about the cross-member relocation and drive-shaft issues already.
  7. This is all i need to finish the 4x4 conversion. Let me know what you have and price if you are close enough to me. Non-disco preferred. Thanks
  8. Just a question...and I searched but didn't find, so sorry if it is out there. Can a 4.0L full gauge cluster go into a 2.5L? I know the sensors would need changed, I just am wondering if they are cross-compatible. Also, can you swap out the speedo to keep the mileage correct? I have a low mile MJ and don't want to lose that distinction ;)
  9. Yeah, the angle on them are nice...the WJ knuckles are nice too.... But I am going to go SOA...so I will need aftermarket control arms.
  10. I know about gear ratios....just was unsure about the perch specs. Thanks
  11. I am getting ready to do this to my 87 MJ. Have a 94 YJ AX5 and 231 that is going in. 2nd advantage....EXTERNAL SLAVE!!
  12. Will a 99 Grand Cherokee Dana 30 work in my 87 MJ? Found one CHEAP! Thanks
  13. I think that is MJPioneer's stuff from here....
  14. The bolts just go straight through. Let them break and then replace them with grade 8 hardware.
  15. Yeah, someone bid with emotion and not sense.
  16. Mine..1987 MJ SWB 2.5 2x4. 20' paint job, all black interior, with gray ZJ seats. Gonna get the 4wd conversion soon. Recently redid the grill and wheels in black. 79,000 original miles.
  17. I used gear oil in my AX15....does 10x40 have enough viscosity for a manual tranny?
  18. :clapping:
  19. Guess this will put my boys at No. 1!! Go Bucks!!
  20. Unless you are going to run huge tires, the D60 is so big it will act like an anchor every time it gets hung up on a rock. Jimmy is in love with the 8.8 for reasons unknown to me. Yes, it is a good axle. No it is not the holy grail. I vote for a 97+ (some 96 as well, but not all) 8.25". They are easy to find, inexpensive, correct width, correct wheel bolt pattern, correct yoke and correct parking brake hook up, and plenty strong enough. Of course it is not the holy grail...but it IS good for the money. That sir, is why I am in love with it. The holy grail would be rock jocks on 37's...but who can afford that....
  21. Good find.... Look here for the ccv stuff... http://www.teamcherokee.com/
  22. :( to bad i thought by what the drain plug looked like it was the 8.25 :dunno: but that just reminds me i have a lot to learn still :ack: thank you now i know i don't want it. Brandon Point is, even if you get a Cherokee axle, you have to move the perches. So why not do better? The nice thing about the ford 8.8 is they are common (Explorer), there is a LOT of support for them, most come with limited slip, and post 95 come with rear disc breaks. Can be had at a pull-a-part yard for less than $100...spring perches at RuffStuff are $32.
  23. That's debatable... 8.8" is still c-clip and a semi-floating axle. Shaft size is the same and the 8.8" only has 1 more spline. Yeah the ring gear is bigger on the 8.8" (marginally) but the carrier's are junk and often fail under stress. I'd take a D44 any day over the 8.8"... No debate... The axle shaft strength tested by Warn Ind: F8.8= 6,500 (lb. ft.) D44= 4,600-5,000 (lb. ft.) D35C= 4,000-4,300 (lb. ft.) ------------------------------- COT: Continuous output torque rating MOT: Maximum output torque rating (Numbers from January edition of Fourwheeler, page 60.) Dana 35 rear axle COT: 870 MOT: 3480 Dana 44 rear axle COT: 1100 MOT: 4460 Ford 8.8 28spline COT: 1250 MOT: 4600 Ford 8.8 31spline COT: 1360 MOT: 5100 Dana60 semifloat COT: 1500 MOT: 5500] Just my $.02 And BTM24, yes, it is a ford.
  24. 8.8 if you can find one...stronger than both....Minor fab work to make it work.
