okay so I'm about to weld in the "new" 8.25 spring over. ive got it axle shafts out right now but i know you need to have the weight of the truck on it to set the correct angle at ride height. so should i just leave the wheels and shafts on/in when i tack it in then take them off/out when i finish it up or does it matter? i know ill have to drain the gear oil either way and take it slow with the welding. I'm thinking it doesnt matter if they are on/in the whole time but just wanted to be sure

i like reading/watching your builds. you throw up a decent amount of pics and take care of business! -
collecting is hoarding so i don't collect anything. i like clean, open spaces.

i started to buy that one from autozone but the people just kept arguing with me that it wouldnt fit. :dunno: then again they're just going off what a computer tells them anyway. the water pump for a 97 and my 88 are the same. i don't see why it wouldnt. i can get galvanized right down the road at the local parts store for cheap. i actually just bought some yesterday for hood spacers ill check it all out when i start doing the swap.

^^^ this. seriously. i think my body finally got to the point of being immune after years of not. i never got it in my body (just covered most of it) but ive got several buddies that it does. its rough stuff for sure and you have to live with it. theres no magic cure. itll run its course and then be gone. (with treatment). i use round up i get from farmers. don't know if its a special grade or what but it kills everything. other then that i don't @#$% with it if i can help it.

the radiator i have now has several holes in it and the on top of that the pressure bottle decides to go. its the second one from quadratec thats crapped out. no more. so i was just going to buy an open system rad for a 97 since i already had parts off a 97. figured why not keep it going. so I'm about to order one from radiator barn now. water pump screams at me sometimes to, so i know its on its last leg too. also when i replaced the tstat before i threw in a "fail safe" one. so thats getting replaced as well. i know the factory is 195 but what about a 192 degree tstat? would that be fine? also where can i buy the water tube that comes out of the water pump? i can't seem to find one at autozone or where ever. mines rusted as hell. so as you can tell, my WHOLE system is $#!&. yay!............ thanks guys

again. a leak has come from the pressure bottle. i said i was going to do the open system swap ages ago but never did. i have the overflow bottle from a 97 xj and hose that goes with. I'm looking 97 xj radiators now but I'm sick of looking around for a "good one" or the "best deal". ive got several questions before i do this and i need to do it soon! I'm going through coolant like its nothing and ive got a run coming up in a hurry. A. do i really need the new heater valve? some just run straight to the heater core. is that fine? i wouldnt mind the extra heat it puts out but if theres a negative to that. id like to know. edit: B. i answered myself. turns out radiator barn sells CSF  C. would running a lower temp t-stat be better since the 3 row rad would keep temps down anyway along with the open system. I'm sure ill think of something else later but for now we'll keep it to those. thanks

they can keep it over there IMO....

jeep clubs are the worst and best when it comes to finding things. someone finds something somebody needs. 9 times out of ten they post online in the club (dumb!). which then leads to nine million people calling/going/doing something to get that part or drive up the price. not cool but usually a first come first serve thing. so thats good if your there first. then on the other hand. you post up what you need and when someone finds it, they send you a PM. awsome. i look up online any and all JYs in my area. within two hours. sometimes four if i really want something. then proceed to hit them all up if local. if not i call every now and again asking for what i need. usually they keep stock but some places go off memory. in which case i ask them to look and say ill come buy it if you have it. that gets them off their asses sometimes. then its the same CL crawling few times a week or just posting my own topic on what i want on there. that works good to if you post enough to stay on the first page. ive found most people don't really want to dig through CL espcially for something someone else wants. using the search all craigs thing is good too but you never really know where what you want is going to end up being at. half way across the country, @#$% that! id still email and ask about shipping or meet half way but those usually don't ever happen because "shipping is more work then i want to do" or "pay my gas" which then makes the deal well, not so much a deal

if there are any other houses, companies, anything around. go ask. i wouldnt just go somewhere and start taking stuff.

$#!& try free. if your in a good club and know the people, offer to provide food and drinks for lunch. jeep guys like wrenching anyway, the food/drinks just draws more poeple in willing to help. we have "lift parties" and "gear install parties" all the time down here. its great being in a club. plus you get discounts from 4wp and 4wd and probably other places in the like
-
@#$% stock! you've already lifted it, go with one with a bracket for a heim joint. i hate and i mean hate the tie rod end type track bars though i see you already bought a new one upon doing the lift..

KJ discs onto XJ chrysler 8.25 write up
SW86 replied to agoldxj's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
i was just wondering about the studs again today when i just bought more 8.25 studs. i had some old d30 studs that are almost a half inch longer. IIRC we've talked about this here before but i could of swore someone said running normal studs was fine :dunno: -
mines an offroad "mainly" rig. random trip to the store happens but I'm not worried. so many guys running without, ill be fine. if any hippies want to show up here, ill pull a cartman and bear mace their asses :D

6 to 6.5" is prefect for 33s. gives the look and function you want. 4.5 and 33s is okay too and like mentioned. youll have to trim. i don't blame you on not wanting RC. i only got it because it came with Hell Creek springs. (good springs and you get a discount). it really depends on what you want to spend. it can go from Rustys to Rock Krawler to anything thatll work on the front of an XJ will work on the front of an MJ. i went RK but i wasnt too worried with my budget edit: you know what. i take that back. there are several guys running RC long arm kits on XJs and love em. i however hated the ride i got from my 4.5 coils and the shocks went dead almost immediately.

I'm just glad taking pictures of the VINs has caught on. it makes it a hell of a lot easier to know whats not out there anymore.
