oh and mountainman, love that avatar dude!

depending on what i need, i still go with 4WD hardware (thanks to rob for the discount deal) and my local 4x4 shop for aftermarket stuff. i go rockauto for most replacement parts. if I'm really in a bind, autozone :peek: :D
-
so i guess you went 35s..?
-
looks good but they spelled comanche wrong on the back glass. kind of hard to believe since it has badges that say it on the truck :shake:
-
yeah my spartan in the rear will do that sometimes just rolling with no gas but it hasnt been in that long. the front never really has though :dunno:

You may have never had an issue, but I look at it this way, the manufacture advises against it for legalities because they are uncertain if it could possibly lock in 2 wheel drive. After you installed the spartan and you did the lock test how firm did you need to hold your front drive shaft to lock the wheels? Regardless with you running the spartan up front with a straight axle do you hear the ratchet of the spartan at every corner? How long have you ran it this way? Do you check the teeth often? i did the unlock test as per the instructions. spun it to lock (jacked up the whole axle, spinning one wheel acting like power was applied till locked) then spun one tire the opposite direction to make sure it unlocked. it did everytime. i hear no clicking. don't even really think it did much after i put it in. however when i did the test after first installed, i heard clicking but per instructions again, you should hear the clicking to ensure its working correctly. once ran awhile, it will quiet down as the teeth get "settled in". which they said would do once used. ive helped install several spartans and aussies and everybody gets some clicking when first installed. after they run it, it quiets down because again, the teeth kind of groove themselves into the locker pattern so to speak. some say the aussies really click but some say they don't. so i don't know on that note... now ive heard if you installed it wrong, without the proper spacing it could catch like your saying when turning because it can't space to properly stay unlocked. maybe as the springs wear it could be an issue but out of the box it should space its self correctly IMO. after all its how they designed it but stranger things have happened... i check the teeth everytime the cover is pulled, along with ring gear teeth. its been awhile with it installed. decent street time and heavy offroad use. no issues with sharp turns or even regluar turns.

ive never had an issue with my front spartan locking up when I'm in 2wd....ever. if there is no power applied (2wd) it will not lock. as for the CAD. remove it, get a single piece shaft and new inner seal. replace when you install the locker.

i thought adam (?) was just on here not too long ago. but i also agree. service was,,, okay... prices were over priced. i always found better deals else where

more yellow is on the MJ now. its slowly getting there. why i always pick days with the most wind to do this,, i don't know. its not perfect but its a trail rig so I'm not going for perfect :D I'm thinking i might add two vertical stripes behind the back wheel/in front of the tail lights. then put a number in front of the back wheels. full and half doors will be painted this weekend. can't decide if i want my half doors to match or just go all yellow with them. either way I'm liking it more and more. for a jeep i bought as a toy, its starting to look like one :shake:

IIRC barnes4wd.com is cheaper then ruff stuff and just grab the spring plates from the xj the axle came out of. ubolts are a toss up. most are around the same price. i got some from autozone because i needed them that day.
-
really. youd probably have an easier time finding the ZJ discs than KJs. i don't think ive ever seen a KJ in the local pull a part yards down here. the more expensive "jeep only" yards yes, but who is going to pay those prices :shake: if you go ZJ, grab the tie rod for a quick, cheap upgrade. has to be a V8 ZJ though.

Diesel Fuel Only - Factory Diesel Comanche
SW86 replied to Automan2164's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
wade, i really like the black touches around the tail lights. almost muscle car-ish style. very nice. rob, i have nothing to say to you..... lol no seriously, glad the diesel made it okay. I'm sure most couldnt care less but the diesel is something i would look over several times for sure. thats cool you had some pictures to go with it too -
man makes me think of mine. we found a full blooded german shepard on the side of the road one day coming home from school when i was younger. she wasnt even a year old. almost backed over her to find her in the grass lol. it was the best dog ive ever owned. she knew what was going on at all times. loved kids. protected the house (and us). smart as hell. the only other dog we've had like her was a fully trained male lab who loved to drink beer. awesome, awesome dog he was. anyway for a second i thought you might have been talking about northern lights or afghani :brows: :rotf: :rotf:
-
nice :chillin: can't wait to see them on the truck. not many people are willing to put in the time and effort (or money) for half doors but they are a step above tube doors IMO. more protection and still great visibility for wheelin'. i love mine for sure

man this made me think of a show i used to watch called tank overhaul. what a killer show. showed a bit of history with the break down and rebuild of every tank. wonder what happened with it?
-

:peek: true... but still even with negative comments about the wrap, its still a comanche. we have MJ love here. plus everybody is entitled to their own opinion. if its their thing, they shouldnt care who says what.. id come here and explain why i did it or what it was for, instead of being ran off because a few people don't like it. after all, its just the internet but i guess i could see a feeling of not being welcomed
-
damn it. i keep thinking the owner has responded to this thread and explained why they would do such an awful, awful wrap. but in reality they probably threw the CC card away....
-
looking good. glad to see more half doors coming about
