  1. Thats the BW part I put on mine last year. It's the one that went out. I got out the BW book and looked at the resistors. I couldn't find one with 1.1 ohms. The one on my 2wd had part# and 1.1 ohms on it. So I chose to get mine from the dealer. Probably won't make a big difference, because I'm sure the mud and water did it in. Anyway back on the road and another spare part to carry.
  2. FYI, My 4x4 quit running, it was the resistor. Luckily I took one off my 2x4 and tried it, after putting a new fuel pump in and no change. I had put a used pump in a couple of months ago and assumed it crapped out, oh well, I feel better about having the new one in. 1.1 ohms. Replace it, I'm on my way to get one now. How many times have I been told to check the simple stuff first, I guess not enough.
  3. Sounds like a hint to me, but he didn't get it. :D
  4. Good excuse to buy an ATV? Thats how my thinking process would have gone. :D Cool anyway.
  5. Gorilla snot, you know the yellow stuff, glue it to the valve cover, let it dry, nothing on the bottom, just a clean surface. Works for me.
  6. Got FFII today, guess I'm qualified to stay.
  7. Wasn't boring at the Fire Station today. We certified for FF1 today, FF2 tommorow. Been on this dept 15 years, no one cared if we were certified. My best friend(the one who got me interested in JEEPS) made Chief and is requiring it(as well should be). Passed FF1 today and I'm feeling good. Better late than never. I love this job.
  8. Remove the fuel rail, replace o-rings. Later models you can leave the fuel lines intact, don't think I had enough room to do it on the renix. Soak the studs overnight if your worried about breaking them, I never did. The studs on the pipe are another matter, expect problems with those. The other problem with the renix is the EGR crossover tube its a pain to get around, and I bought 1 manifold that was casted poorly and I had to make some bends in it to re-install, but you won't have that problem if you just welding.
  9. It can get boring at a Fire Station....if you let it. I walk, work out, take home and JEEP projects. I always study at least 2 hours. Most of the young guys play computor games. My FF plays some kinda Battleship game, can't get him up to do anything else.
  10. Reluctent to post, but...I turned 50 this year. I'm still a kid at heart, always liked to play. Have kept myself in good shape. Raced mountain bikes up until last year in the 45 to 49 class. Can still run circles around most of my young firefighters.

    Wrangler finally

Speaking of money, my son was in the 4x4 Comanche today at Paddy's bluff today and he said a guy offered him $4000 for the truck. I asked him why he didn't walk home with the money.

    Wrangler finally

Got to fix the top, that place sticks out like a sore thumb. Anybody fixed a Wrangler top before?

    Wrangler finally

Finally bought a Wrangler. Still plan on DD'ing my 2wd, and hanging around here. I thought Comanches were fun, I'm having a blast with the new ride. It will be getting alot of my attention in the next few weeks. Put new shocks and control arm bushings in it yestrerday. Need to paint flares and the frame and do cosmetic things here and there. Some specs-didn't get the d44 I wanted, but super 35 with OX, Aussie in the front, regeared to 4.11, Warn bumpers and spare carrier, Tereflex 3", 1" body, Warn 9.5 ti winch, FXD tank skid and rocker protection. Got eveything I need, snatch block, tree saver, oba. Targa hardtop W/hard door tops bikini top, soft top, trail cover, the list goes on. I'm happy. :D Image Not Found
  15. http://elcaminocentral.com/article95.html Just did this job using this writeup. Not a fun job, but doable. I jst took my time and went slow. One difference-I never could get the part out that goes from the lock cyl to the other side, I don't think it comes out. Other than that, you'll just have to figure out where all the little parts go after they fall out. :D Like the top bearing, all the balls will fall out. Good write-up. Nevermind the difference I mentioned, I went back over the instructions And I must have misread it. Spent an hour on that  . Also, I found the tool for the pivet pins here in stock. It's a Lilse tool, the number escapes me. But, it's like $8, and saved me time from making a tool. So, call your parts stores that carry Lisle tools.

    What Radio to Buy?

Ditto, I have these in both my Comanches.

    factory upgrades

I found one here, on a truck with a blown motor. The guy decided to get it going. Still hoping to latch on to it. Of course, I never mentioned the front bumper, and he didn't ask why I was drooling. :D
  20. I would suggest Heli-coils for the tranny bolt holes, if you haven't thought of that. Stronger than simply re-threading the holes.
  21. I finally finished this job. Once I got the broken bolt out, it went fine. The threads were still good enough to get the third bolt in for the puller. There's just no room if something goes wrong. No straight shot to drill into broken bolts, you need to get dead center. Could have put in a motor in that time. Which might be the next project.
  22. Did this a couple of months ago. I had to take the brake cable apart at the junction, sorry.
  23. I'm still working on this job. I started Sat, I was so confident that it would be easy, I started on a day I had a surprise birthday party for my wife. Couldn't find my impact wrench, so I tried the 2 bolts and prybar method while attempting to break the big bolt loose, couldn't break it, but I did mange to break one of the bolts off where I need to mount the puller. No problem, I'll get back to that. Party Sat night. Work Sunday(24 hour shifts). Monday spent hunting down impact wrench and trying to find a strap wrench big enough to hold balancer. Start work about 3. Impact wrench WILL NOT break loose bolt. Strap wrench and a 4ft cheater bar on my breaker bar finally gets it loose. On to broken bolt, no problem, done it many times, have several good sets of easy outs. WRONG, won't budge. Hole wollered out to threads now. Quit work 4:30. Wife is starring in a play for community theater, having rehearsals every night. I tend to kids while she's gone. Work today. Back at it tommorow, I'm looking at rethreading the hole or Heli-coiling just to have a place for the third bolt for the puller, haven't even gotten the old balancer off yet. But, I'm still confident that I'll lick this 2 hour job. I'll be into my fifth day. I'm unbelievably stressed out right now.
  24. Not as bad as I thought. There's aftermarket ones available, but Advance said it would take a week. I got one at the dealer for $53.
