Dropped the 242 tonight and will replace with the 231 tomorrow and see if there is a difference. Video if anyone sees this. This is in FT 4wd.

Well, uhhh I believe these are supposed to be a part of a TC output shaft bearing.... They were hanging out on my garage floor. Which is perplexing seeing how it's sealed... Unless came from somewhere else that I'm not thinking of. They were dry which also was odd. I've got a metal-to-metal type sound above ~2.4k RPM that started 2 days ago. Haven't driven since the noise. My FT 4wd grinds nicely to compliment. Perfect timing as I am supposed to be driving it up to Yellowstone next week

Custom Tailgate Lock, who makes them?
howeitsdone replied to knever3's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Removed since I realized you meant for TG theft and not for handle locking. -
The Comanche Camper has been getting some work done. Got the skeleton of the bed & storage done. Then added some power. Lots more to do, but I'm currently writing this from dispersed BLM in the Uintas, so clearly it's working lol.

Well, been working on the topper/camp setup a bit. Slow progress, but moving. Last piece of the topper is the trimlok that I don't want to install, but has to be done. Still a ways to go for the bed portion such as drawer, shelving, etc... but we're getting there. Opted not to paint the topper. It needs some fiberglass work in a few spots and I don't want to spend the money polishing a turd just to fix it later on.

You'll be fine that part of CO. Mountains are west of Denver and sounds like you're going straight North 25 to 80. Also agree with Pete, Uhaul doesn't care what you tow, they care about your tow rig. You'll be more than fine with the Uhaul Dolly. I towed my MJ (in winter with snow and ice) that was fully loaded with a Uhaul dolly through the Rockies and had no trouble other than having a house full of items in the bed of the truck giving me a fishtail at times. If you are towing with another MJ, then you'll still probably be fine since it's a chassis, not a 4,000lb+ rig. Especially since you're not going I70.

I'm from Bay City! Been there too many times as a kid...
-
As of right now it’s a $200 paper weight. Let me know if you need anything.

Aaaand just realized it's an ax4... I didn't do the proper research and investigating when I purchased. It was listed as an ax-15. Fortunately I only paid $100 (+$100 in gas) so not a total loss, but enough to be crowned stupid for the week.
-
Got an absolute score today! Won’t shift into 5th so I’ll need to do some digging and possible rebuilding. Now to decide wether or not to swap input shafts on the tc or just find one… Those snap rings are a pita.

Picking up an AX-15 and crossmember Saturday. Just need the mount bracket to make complete.

Link if anyone has that group added. I might head down there. Was just there Memorial Day weekend. Not really able to do the trails, but I'd go and camp for sure.

Random long-shot here, but I've got an original 20th Century topper that I'm working on restoring and updating. The rear molded acrylic windows use a locking window gasket. The trouble I'm running into is that Trim-Lok (company that corners this market) doesn't sell the size needed. They sell for 1/4" Glass. The correct size for this topper is 1/8" Glass, 1/8" Edge. Has anyone substituted this locking gasket for something else? Or do you have a lead on the correct size? If not, I'm going to buy the 1/4" glass size and probably add some RTV as filler.

Chevy handles that work with MJ tailgate?
howeitsdone replied to VorTekX's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
He attached a file that contains them all. Got it here. latch handle jeep.PDF -
@Tex06 How much did you use for the job? I've gotten my topper pulled apart and want to paint it, just not sure how much to buy for it.

Chevy handles that work with MJ tailgate?
howeitsdone replied to VorTekX's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The bolt pattern is key here I think. Most GM are 2 on top, 1 on bottom where the MJ is 1 on top, 2 on bottom. That already limits to what you'll find. Then it's just the latch arm clips. GM are top & bottom, where MJ has both on top. Not sure if there is interference. I thought about trying this one linked below out because I want to get a locking adapter. https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-77487-Chevrolet-Tailgate-Handle/dp/B000TYVXIK/ref=sr_1_4?crid=FNZABWGQD30M&keywords=S10+Tailgate+handle&qid=1654102444&sprefix=s10+tailgate+handl%2Caps%2C123&sr=8-4 Then there is the Dorman 91028 which looks much similar. These are found on Dodge Ram vehicles from the early '00s. But the handle opens down vs up. https://www.amazon.com/Dorman-91028-Chrome-Replacement-Tailgate/dp/B00B9H44W8 -
Mediocre? The face/sticker still on the cap lol. Mine aren't perfect. Thanks but I just need one. I've got 3 others.

My center cap is somewhere enjoying the Moab desert... Looking for just one if ya got it.

Not sure if anyone is going to this event so I might be the only MJ around. I've got to get a few things to take care of before being able to ride (fingers crossed), but if anyone is thinking about It let me know! A few of the XJ guys from SLC are riding over. https://www.vernalrockrally.com/
