  1. Here's a useful link to some of the equipment involved on the Renix motors. http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Eng ... ostics.htm Your issue could be a few different things so test and research a bit more before buying a new EGR valve and if you do buy one, it shouldn't be anywhere near $100. More like 1/2 that. Rockauto has the Delphi on closeout for $25 + SH. (you'll need a gasket also)

  4. If you still need this, I have one from a black interior XJ (85 or 86). $25 plus shipping from 92025 Let me know.
  5. He's in Bellingham, Washington during winter season. There is no daylight! :D

  7. Place the 2" spacers below the OE coil isolator to truly add 2". Otherwise you will only gain about 1.5 ". Some sites like JEGS or Quadratec sell Cherokee 2" lift rear shackles and require no trimming off the sides of the bushings in order to fit.

    T shirts

I got mine today also. Now I'm BONAFIDE!
  10. I removed the switch from the firewall and cleaned up the bracket, ground wire, and electrical connector. I also replaced the vac line with new hose I already had. Put everything back together and the light was no longer on. :dunno:
  11. Thanks for responding but what do I have to do? This is my 1st 4wd truck and I have not used 4wd since I bought it a couple months ago. I'll look for a switch somewhere and when I find it, how do I flip it to "off"? Or is black tape over the light the common cure? I see a vacuum line goes from 4wd actuator to this thing. Is this the switch?
  12. While running errands I started up my 4x4 88 and the "part time" indicator light was on but I was in 2H (np231). How do I reset this or what do I look for at the TC to ensure I am not driving around town in 4wd? The TC handle is all the way forward in 2H.

    new year

Happy New Year to everyone and to John92131 who posted in Tech.
  14. You can disconnect the box and save it or buy a new one if you want to keep it as part of your 'from the factory' goals. I think teamcherokee sells them but as you already know, these emission timers serve no real purpose.
  15. Factory "hidden winch bumper" on a 86 MJ.
  16. Is it this? http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Eng ... ostics.htm
  17. Not really any difference in that respect but I have seen a difference in years. I scored some nice, black seatbelts from a 86 and they were narrower than the 88s. Also, the pillar mount bracket was longer on the 86 and will not fit into the moulded sheet metal on the 88.

  19. Why not buy a good condition base MJ with good title and transfer all the equipment and hard work over to your new one?

  21. The 87 e-brake cable snapped at the pedal a few days ago. Today I installed a new one from NAPA and it works great. I had also ordered one from Rockauto but the NAPA cable seemed a little better quality.
  22. Drove the 87 to the mechanic who has just finished installing a 99 XJ motor into my silver 88. Test drove the silver truck and gave the green light to swap several pieces of equipment and parts from the black 88 to the silver 88. ( D44, shocks, budget lift, etc. )
