  2. That's a decent price but I would look for one with a drain plug for future servicing.
  3. I don't know if any of these caps from TeamCherokee will help or not. http://www.teamcherokee.com/Engine/index.html

  5. Began swapping parts over from the Black Hole to the Grey Goose. Mostly interior stuff. The PO of the Grey Goose had moved the nice bench seat back to it's farthest setting and WELDED the slider in place. I'm 5' 6" on a good day so the 85 mile drive home was less than optimal. I took the XJ seats from the Black Hole and put them in as a temporary solution. They don't fold forward so I will install folding seats in the next few months.
  6. If that canister has a charcoal filter in it , it is the exhaust canister that filters fumes and should have a rubber hose extending from the bottom to emit the filtered fumes.
  7. I have never dealt with 4x4 until now, so sorry about what might be a silly question. The Silver 88 front diff says 3:55 but has a D35 in the rear. I want to put my D44 3:54 from the Black 88. Does the gearing have to be exact or is this considered "the same" ratio? I probably will not use 4x4 mode very often but when I do, I don't want to cause damage if the gears don't match.
  8. I put some pics in the Pub and Registry. I called the Flipper, Mr. Santos, who has the Street Comanche parked in his driveway. His friend owns it. They are waiting on the insurance carrier to make an offer of repair or salvage. I believe they will most likely salvage it and take it to the crusher. I told Santos to set up a meet with me and his friend to talk about saving this truck. This was three weeks ago but the truck is still parked. I will call him tomorrow to remind him. At the very least, I will offer to buy the black interior before it gets hauled off. Hopefully, he'll sell me the whole truck. I'll post up with any new info.
  9. I completely agree. I'm thinking nine ball! Actually I already started looking for a column lever handle but I don't seem to be looking in the right places. If anyone knows a source, let me know. Otherwise, I'll check the junkyards when I get a chance.
  10. Following Deziped's advice, I just bought it. Actually, the pull to the right wasn't bad at all but it did feel pretty sloppy on the highway. I drove it home 85 miles on a Southern California Free(for all)way and kept it between 65 & 70, which is about 20mph too slow for CA drivers. Good times!!

  12. 88 LWB 4x4 Auto (column) 4.0 D30/D35 Stock height 237k on truck 18k on motor. It's in pretty good shape but it has a rocker knocking and a slight wobble at 50+ mph. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found
  13. I'm going to look at a 88 4x4 4.0 auto tomorrow and the seller has stated the truck pulls to the right after blowing a tire. If this could be something major, I would like to know for the sake of negotiating the sales price. Thanks.

  18. Welcome! And yes we do love pictures. If you are comfortable with letting us know the area you live in, that sometimes comes in handy, depending on your questions.

  20. When you remove the corner mirrors, you should plug the corners up with the triangular trim pieces that are designed for that. Trying to rig something will most likely be ugly and leaky. I also like the towing mirrors look but be sure to get ones that are proportionate to the MJ. Some of those sets are made for full size trucks and can make your truck look like Dumbo.
  21. I believe the Laredo is the most equipped but other packages could be ordered with the works as well. Welcome to the Club!
  22. That's a tricky one! If you can't jimmy it open with a thin blade or wire, you may have to drill out the latch button and then replace just the button. You can easily swap in a new glove box door/hatch from any similar style XJ if you happen to ruin yours. Good Luck.
  23. I should add that I would prefer the column shift option.
  24. I may end up buying the 92 I posted in the CL etc. section. It's 4.0 2wd auto on the column. The tranny will need attention pretty soon. Will a (89 XJ) floor shift auto 2wd bolt in or would I be better off having the 92's rebuilt. I can get the 89 AW4 for $50.
