  1. Wife and I were on our way to the Mopar Show in Shreveport Louisiana when we had a "incident". We were west bound on I-20 @ 70 mph and wife said she was getting hot and turn on the AC. Wanting the gal to live in peaceful bliss.......I turned on the AC. In a few seconds the Comanche was blasting out cold air. About 20 miles out of Shreveport we dropped off the super slab for a pee stop. Back at it in a few minutes and no AC. Just hot air, couldn't even feel the compressor engage....... yes a few bad words we uttered........ Got checked into our hotel, walked across the street for dinner. On my return I popped the hood to discover freon all over by the AC compressor. Next day at the show I cleaned up the mess and figured out the problem. The high side fitting was finger tight and the low side was just slightly loose. I think it was a combination of events and vibration caused the issue. The AC ran great all last summer and lost no freon. I replaced the "O" rings, relocated the hoses, vacuumed and re-charged the system...... No contact between any hoses. AC is working great. Issue should not rear its ugly head again. ............ Having Comanche Fun, Ollie
  2. First show for our Jeep Comanche and he won 1st Place in the 1980-1990 stock pick-up class. Great show, cloudy but no rain, good food, about 100 vehicles and saw many friends. It doesn’t get much better!! Ollie & Teresa

  4. Going to Town Car Show Brookhaven, Mississippi March 6, 2021 This car show in Brookhaven, Mississippi has been going on many years. It’s the first show the season and everyone is ready to get out after winter hibernation. I believe I have not missed a show in the last 15 years. It’s the only local car show that is growing. Another record year, 297 vehicles. Brookhaven is located on I-55, exit 40, US 51 and on the Chicago to New Orleans railroad track. We usually see the City of New Orleans (south bound) passenger train passing thru town during the car show, but not this year. This is an interesting build……… Weather was nice and sunny, a bit breezy with highs in the low 60’s. Didn’t seem to dampen anyone spirits…………. See ya'll at the next show !!!!! 5. Alot of work going on !! I am impressed !! The AMC 4.0 is one of the best inline 6 motors ever made. Yours is not hurt. Clean and flux the block first. And go from there. Stripping is cool too. I like mine We were in Brookhaven for the car show today. Having Comanche Fun, Ollie

  9. I know your Comanche enjoyed his outing carrying you and mom around the country side. Having Comanche Fun, Ollie
  10. I love it, wish I had the talent to attempt something like that. I always gravitate to "odd Balls" like that at a car show. Sure going to be a head turner. Having Comanche Fun, Ollie

  12. Pete, I have a tailgate spot reserved for the event and will be there all 3 days. The tailgate spot is actually 2 parking spots and allows me to set up a 9' X 9' tent, chairs & table. I have a small generator that can run 3 small crock pots, one with chili, one with pulled pork, one with hotdogs and plan on serving chili dogs and pulled pork sandwiches along with chips and drinks. All supported by a donation jar. Do you have a Comanche Club banner that I can borrow and attach to my sun tent? I have no problems making it the Official Comanche Club hang out. I think it would be fun. Having Comanche Fun, Ollie

  15. Working on some running lights for The Comanche.......... Last week during cold weather in the Southland, I had to come up with in the house projects. We faired well as we had water and power all during the storm. Seven days in the teen's is rough for us. Bought some lights from Mossmj13 I didn't know when I purchased them they were Ford Ranger lights. I should have investigated further, my mistake. Working with what I have. I cut the grills off to look more like Jeep lights. During disassembly for cleaning all the reflector chrome fell off. Sanded and painted the reflectors glossy white. One bulb burnt out so will replace both. Everything ready to be assembled and mounted. Having Comanche Fun, Ollie

    washing machines

Just been thru this myself. Our Sears washer was 16 years old and all I have ever done was replace the timer and hot wire the door close switch. Wife says the machine is not spinning the cloths dry as they should and they take longer to dry in the dryer. Ok, so I "looked" at the machine, not knowing what I was looking at, and wow, what a rust bucket underneath. Really didn't know how it was staying together. Now the search for the "new" washer began. I didn't know what type of journey that was to become. Off to Lowes to take advantage of my 10% military discount. Looks as if you don't have a computer engineering degree from MIT most of the machines are in-operable, with agitator or without, oh, wash with or without water, liquid or dry powder soap? Its crazy. Seems like a Maytag Commercial washer is as close to a old school machine as possible. Actually has knobs, fills with water, two levels, has a agitator, uses soap powder.......... Read about every washer on line and the biggest gripe I find is they don't wash with water any more and the cloths don't clean. The only machine that uses water is a "commercial" machine to get around EPA rules. Settled on a Maytag Commercial washer. I didn't buy at Lowes. Their Maytag Commercial is made exclusively for Lowes and doesn't have a good warranty. I bought from a Maytag dealer, got a 10 year warranty on most parts and a 5 year 100% warranty on everything from Maytag. Sticker shock..... $975, sitting on the back porch. Wife likes it, so that's a plus in my book !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Yes, I would purchase it again. Having Comanche Fun, Ollie

  20. That's all part of the game....... I spent a couple of days in Cheyenne a few years ago. Water pump went out on a Rambler I was driving. Got a pump overnighted, changed it in a hotel parking lot; one of the girls that worked there husband came over with is truck full of tools. Nice friendly people, kinda like Mississippi folks. 21. Your "new" truck looks great. Hope you have as much fun getting yours up to your specs as I did mine. Look forward to following your posts. I like the name of your thread, don't change that. Having Comanche Fun, Ollie
  22. I have seen two, one was in Kentucky south of Cincinnati when we were on our way to visit the Ark. It was in the hammer lane doing better than 75 mph as he passed me in my Rambler. I was in the center lane of three. There was not much left of the box due to rust but I recognized the tail lights. I saw a second one pulled off of MS25 in a deer hunting area south of Louisville, Mississippi. It was rattle can painted camouflage. Having Comanche Fun, Ollie
