  1. remember that J-truck axles are wider than wagoneer axles.... and there is some possibility of it being an 8lug J20 axle instead of a 6 lug J10 axle.... Yes, '80 and up are drivers drop. Manual tranny FSJ's never got the vacuum disconnect axle: they reatined lock-outs.
  2. They are 245/75/16's (if stock) and run about 30.6" tall and almost 9.5" wide. TJ rims will bolt on, but if they are original Rubi MT/R's they are, IMHO, a crappy crappy tire on the road/wet/snow and have balance issues for sure.
  3. Aweome combo...If I had the cash I'd go that route. If you have the $$$, I would start with something like this:http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=IROR&Product_Code=IR-XDAXL for the front or go alloy. The rear you have a bunch of options. I always ran Moser axles in drag cars, but I haven't bought a set in 15 years so I am not sure if the are still a cool company to go with. Trusses work wonders, too. A common reason for r&p failure is the axle physically flexing.
  4. Many online fabrication parts suppliers offer spindles, latches, etc... to help with a tire carrier fab..
  5. Waggy rear springs are notorious for wearing out. The term is "wag sag" and is a common occurence. So as with any used spring set, what you wind up with lift-wise will depend on the condition of the donor springs well as the original application.
  6. That was my first thought: the site is locked for change or they have an IT issue. Most places like Hellcreek, in my experience, use a third party web provider so any number of things could have happened.
  7. Weird...
  8. My '88 4.0 auto WITHOUT A/c has both fans, but it has the tow package...
  9. ^^^ Good point
  10. For about $50 you can get extended shackles and front pucks at O'Reilly's or some place and wind up with 2 inches or so of clearance.
  11. Is that in English? :D
  12. That guide is about as in touch with reality as Lindsay Lohan... ;) And to answer your question.... replacing the mighty 2.5 with the 4.0 LOWERS the value by 10% in their world... http://www.nadaguides.com/default.aspx? ... 7205&da=-1

You shoud be able to find a matching 10.25 sterling rear for cheap...http://www.rockymountainextreme.com/sho ... hp?t=62393
  14. Morning is what is 3/4 over by the time this retired fart opens his eyes...
  15. That is kinda why I think that powder coating is a wase in the rust belt. The first scratch that goes through and then the contaminates get under the poweder coating, and it comes off in fakes. Paint is easier to touch up.
  16. I know people who are hard-core defenders of the D35, as well, even though "conventional wisdom" calls them disposable. Just another case of " you rmileage may vary..." :D
  17. I have no personal experience owning one, just a nephew's horror stories ( I witnessed) with the 2.8 in a Fiero. The thing I find curious is it is not just in the XJ world: That engine is panned across many platforms/makes/types of vehicle and has been a prime candidate for an upgraded replacement since they were a few years old. From the outside, the numbers in both power and MPG were not very impressive. If there are no issues, why is the hate so universal?
  18. The Wrangler eventually got the 2.4L Chrysler I4... But I am fairly sure that it was after the XJ run. The KJ got the 2.4.
  19. What was the source for you engine?
  20. Very nice. Wish I had one.
  21. Interesting question
  22. The big lenses under the headlights are the turn signals. It sounds like the truck may be new to you, so don't overlook the obvious: both bulbs burnt out....
  23. Some of the owners of the low production number and troublesome 2.8L Italian CRD in the KJ's look to Europe for their parts/ideas, as the engine is sourced from there. Might work for your Renault, too.
