I'm on the downhill slide. I have 3 sets of chains for my 4x4 GMC 3500 DRW, one pair for the rear duals, and two pair for singles. The single are a lot easier to put on, but the 3 rails have better traction. I made it out of the driveway without chains just after noon. Last two days it was.drive up to the main road with chains, take them off to drive into Vancouver, turn around and put them back on to drive.down my driveway. 4 changes of clothes into days. Sure am glad to be able to run the washer and dryer today... No blue sky, but 39 degrees when I fired the truck up this morning. Shoveled around the daughters car, so the grandkids can walk out to it without slogging through snow. Sure regret not just fixing whatever is causing the DW in the kids Cherokee parked in my driveway.

Helpful is an understatement. Thanks -
Sure they would. And Chrysler would have passed the premium price on to the buyer.

I don't. Do you have access to one? -
91 Colorado Red SWB, as base as you can get

I "mounted" 33x10.50-15 BFG Mud Terrains on mine. It would move without rubbing, but even the potholes in my driveway made it unhappy! That said, it wouldn't have taken much trimming to make them work. Other than the control arm issue... -
Ouch. I made it in and out of my driveway without chains, on my second trip. Had to back down, pretty sure I couldn't have turned around. Ice pics.

Well, power was out for 22 hours at my house. Sure am glad we have a woodstove. I got some Ice Photos, had about a 1/4 inch build up. I'll post those when I get internet back at the house those pics are on my tablet. I had to chauffeur my wife and daughter to work yesterday and today, I'm not convinced they will make it out tomorrow, either. They both have AWD, but it's more a ground clearance issue. My tires are 33 inches tall, theirs are less. We will see.

Sounds like.you in exactly the same situation we are, amazingly enough, our power hasn't gone out, yet. The forecasters aren't calling for heavy rain, but the long term forecasts show one dry day for the rest of the month. Obviously, that's subject to change. We had a similar set up in 1996,and we had record floods. Not this much snow, but had about 5 days of torrential downpours from the tropics, really warm, the snow just disappeared. And I worked 60 days straight, working on slide repair, FEMA damage estimates, repairing scoured bridge abutments.

Probably work better to find a manual PCM. I don't know the cost, so take that for what it's worth. -
I was thinking that, but who knows, maybe it's a '98.

I'm not even planning on asking, they looked like they had been there for a couple of years.

Hopefully you have your safety squints engaged.

The chains for the rear axle.
-
What does this mean? 60 front and Sterling rear is a great axle setup, if a little wide. Probably overkill until you go to 37 inch tires or bigger. What do you want to do with the truck?

Clutch, pilot bearing, rear main seal
BeatCJ replied to rylee144's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You would use one or the other. The early crankshaft has a smaller bore than the later.model. Do I see a needle bearing the same size as the oilite (gold) bushing? If it is, and it fits both the transmission input shaft and the crankshaft bore, a bearing is a superior setup to a bushing. -
Obviously, neither one.
-
That's not my driveway, I don't have asphalt. I spent 3 hours digging that truck out today. It was dragging snow with it's rear axle, some places with the bumper. It would never have gotten stuck if the chains for the rear axle had been put away correctly. They were put in the wrong bags, and moved to storage.

Had to work for a few hours today. Looks nice out now, but they are calling for freezing rain tonight. Hopefully the front scours out the east wind and it just rains. My GMC 3500 is the only vehicle in the fleet with enough ground clearance to make it out of the driveway.

parts and deals on Market place

Do you know if those are still available? I don't have the app, don't look there, and haven't had luck finding them. Seems like it only gives me parts that are close to me. -

No probably not wort churning out a website for one or two books, but a few reviews will help. Do you use social media at all? I find that we get more feedback at work from our Facebook page than our website. I have a high school acquaintance that has published several books, and he has a Facebook presence for that. Also, I think Amazon also has author pages, but I don't know if that's only for authors with more than one book. I'll post a review, when I get done.
