  1. I've had the ticking come from the crack that always seems to present itself in the stock header, it then gets quieter but is still present at operating temp. as you said.
  2. However, don't discredit the H-Beam/Blinker Post as it can also be the culprit as well if damaged.
  3. Yeah, I was apologizing so much when I rolled my XJ on the highway with my buddy. We were fine. The only injury he got was a bump on the head from unbuckling his seatbelt without realizing he was upside down. Looking back it's pretty hilarious, I suppose.
  4. Really is looking good, can't wait to see a full shot. And nice paint for garage booth, well done!
  5. Nice fan.
  6. Yeah, mine was the same gen, (2002) It was fastest when it had the fresh motor, NISMO CAI, and the fully functioning 6-speed, (after a warranty tranny rebuild @ 20K) and with a fresh set of Yokohama's it built just enough confidence to bring you to the limit, then spit you out. And yes, for a FWD, those cars liked to whip the rear out... and they didn't always have the ability to pull you out, as expected, even with the power to the front wheels. Glad you guys were OK.
  7. It's not the driver so much as the car. I had an SE-R Spec-V... the damn thing makes you stupid. I went through 3 wheels, 2 control arms, 1 fender, and a power steering rack in about a year of ownership. Not to mention spinning the POS out at a buck-twenty. Then at 60,000 the motor ate the pre-cat and scored the cylinder walls and had to be replaced. That car was bad juju... err sumthin...
  8. 2 things. Try priming the fuel pump by cycling the key a few times before igniting, see if it starts faster. If thats the case you've got a lazy pump. Check/Clean your CPS, (follow the wire that travel over the intake manifold to the sensor on the top, driver side of bell housing) they are known to cause long/no starts as well.
  9. He still have it? Rob :brows: No, he opted out for that reason exactly. There is the very off chance he still has his order sheet, as it was a custom order. 2 Door, 4.0 H.O., AX-15, 4x4, Sport, Red... took them about 2 months to put together. I got it when I turned 16, back in 2005, I put an Alpine in it. Then I rolled it in Late 09 or Early 10.... Makes me sad and angry every day... :grrrr:
  10. And on this day, not a single brick was sh@t.
  11. And just for thought, when my father bought his XJ NEW in 1993, a CD player was in fact an option. But I believe it is so rare because if I recall correctly it was an almost 800 hundred dollar option. So yes, they do exist. Somewhere.
  12. Make sure you've got the right flasher, I've always preferred electronic over thermal. They have them for 8.99 at O'reilly's. Also, check you wiring, make sure you're not grounding on something or you didn't reverse the leads. Good luck. And that does sound like a clutch to me, if I was under the impression that it was due to fail I might try some low rpm drops (not quite enough to break tires loose), just in case it happens to be stuck as opposed to hosed, has it been sitting? (Although I take no responsibility for you trying this, better yet I didn't tell you to do it, let someone else tell you something more intelligent. I break things.) And as far as the OPS, I know you'd be correct on the 4.0, but no idea about the 2.5, sorry. :dunno:
  13. Yes.
  14. This is Fast and Furious Bro! We's Racin' For Them Pinks!!1!11!! Yeah, it's basically a generic term for title/ownership documentation, I don't know the origin...
  15. Meh, my 67' Mustang's California title was blue... :D
  16. Yes, 91 is an H.O. (if original), same as mine. Is the Check engine light on? If it's not, it's probably not throwing a code. What are your symptoms?
  17. Looking good! You planning on doing the paint work in the garage as well? (post bondo) And just out of curiosity, did you get this as a salvage or is it still blue?
  18. Hey man, just keep pluggin away at it, it's worth it now with what you've done. And get that title in your name. ASAP :brows:
  19. Yup, no need for a new compressor. Mines converted. No advantage to R134, EXCEPT that you can actually buy it... Some will even argue that R12 is colder but is getting exceedingly hard to get a hold of. Especially if you don't have a license. So I'd definitely recommend the conversion... it won't cost you much but time and will save you money in the long run, for sure.
  20. To me it's not worth replacing lines unless they are leaking, as that requires an evac (pull vacuum), before you recharge because you've now opened it up to atmosphere. Besides if it's just surface rust you can make it look better with scotch bright / sand paper and metal polish. We have a place here locally that will make a/c lines for about $25-30 called hosefast, but since I'm guessing you don't that's definitely a reasonable deal for some oem ones. Good luck.
  21. Yup, I was lucky, my neighbor had one and I was able to open my girlfriend's 98 XJ with it. Aim for the right, and watch the lock for jiggling, when you see it begin to move you know you are close. BUT do NOT pull or pry with any real amount of force. Coat hanger will always work if you are not terribly concerned with paint or if you have something covering it (good idea), just don't use the door as leverage or you may cause some denting... which would be more expensive than calling a lock smith.
  22. Did more research, looks like 87s didn't have them from the factory. A few got them as a TSB but chances are pretty good that you don't have one.
  23. Should be by the hood latch area on passenger side fender of engine bay. Will have one wire on either side. It's a ceramic color.
  24. Yea, no need for an attorney in this situation it is not the time or place, nor will they even consider giving you a public defender because it is a Class C Misd. (i.e. nothing) I'm a 4th year CJUS Major and have more than my fair share of dealings with the court, oxymoronic, yes, I know... but this should be an easy win for you. I have a 67 Mustang, in my state I am grandfathered into not having to wear seatbelts, (although I have since installed shoulder belts), this was an easy win. Simply state that the vehicle is of age __, designated for the purpose of carrying passengers, and is not bound by todays safety laws, but, instead, only the laws that applied at the time of manufacture. Also, I recently beat a registration/inspection ticket on an XJ I had purchased the same night by writing a letter to the judge, call/visit, and see if this option is available, if so, you will not have to make the drive back up for the court date. You should have no problem winning this, people are expected to represent themselves in traffic cases, (most, but not all, do), and in the worst case, you lose and your out the same $35. So there is no advantage to pleading no contest now. That option is simply there to make you feel better.
