Photos of black MJs with chrome exterior trim?
grumpiebill replied to AP_MJ88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
My 1986 MJ has been a long project. Satin black chrome international bumpers front & rear, chrome side mirrors likely to go away...has SBC 305 with 700r4 trans. Never seems to be done, building it as a rat rod... Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

Finally got my driveshaft in after SBC 700r4 2wd swap. Measured driveshaft angle at 3 degrees (truck has been lowered about 2 inches)...need to know if this is okay. By my eye angle difference at transmission looks good and better at the diff... Sent from my LM-Q710(FGN) using Tapatalk

To fix oil leaks or not.

Not sure what we're working on but I believe 100 psi on compression is minimum. Did you block off everything attached to the intake? PCV? Other vacuum hoses? Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk -
I'm sorry I missed this. I haven't been on here in awhile. I've been focusing on my own MJ project. Would like to hear where you are with yours. I got my kit from Chuck Manis Performance in Ocala, Fl..I'm glad you decided to keep it.... Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk

I did this in my WJ. I got this from a guy that overheated his. Radiator cracked and he drove it till it quit. I bought it for $400. Went to a UPullit and found a wrecked WJ hit very hard in the rear (hmmm, that means it was running when it got hit...) My job was easy. Transmission was broken so bellhousing bolts were easy to get to. Lots of stuff already gone up top. $350 minus the core return I'm only in for $650 total. Took it home did a complete reseal for $100. Its running for less than a grand. Its been very dependable for 3 years now...good luck Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk

In my opinion the options are a low mileage 4.0 and reseal it before you put it in then crack the one you have now and see what would be needed to do a complete rebuild on that. Look to Titan engines for a kit. I got mine for around $375 included pistons and cam and lifters...Chuck Manis Performance is also a good source... Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk -

Searching for a ujoint to mate my 700r4 27 spline slip yoke to my 86 2wd LWB MJ driveshaft. The MJ had a 904 transmission in it. Drivetrain expert I spoke to needs to know what series ujoint was in this truck so he knows what I need.,. Sent from my GT-P3113 using Tapatalk

Same...I'm quite surprised they're testing. As long as I've been wrenching I've forgotten more than most will ever know about smog pumps and air diverter valves. I wonder if they inspected for system application to be sure everything was there that is supposed to be. Make sure the pump is there and there is a belt on it. If no belt pump could be seized...that is my step 1... Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk -

found a distruaght 86 MJ, what should I do
grumpiebill replied to Submariner's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Either way I see it as a good investment. Get it running, fix it up and sell it for ten times what others didn't want to pay $350 for it. Keep the old Jeeps alive I say... Sent from my SM-T560NU using Tapatalk -

Not sure this is appropriate here...is $100 for a tailgate with minor damage (top corners each end) too much? I just sold this guy my 2.8 motor & transmission. I was asking $400 and came down $200 and was expecting a better deal...suspect I'm being nieve Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk

Bed reinforced areas
grumpiebill replied to murdamanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I had mine off for about a month. Just reinstalled yesterday. Shoulda took pics but I didn't have any rust on rear frame area and only minor rust on front of bed where floor meets forward wall where 3 drain openings are located. I used picks to dig the rust out very little perforated sheet metal (holes) hammered it flat again, sanded down forward wall and underneath the bed including wheel wells then Rhino liner. Also did the rear of the cab up to the top of the bed. I think it was 18 inches from bottom lip of cab to top of bed. About 4 inches below the back window. Used 2 coats, took about half gallon of Rhino liner Sent from my LG-M210 using Tapatalk -
