  1. Mine are whacked right outta there and I didnt reinforce them back up at all. I asked on here before I cut them out and nobody said it needed to be done. However, when I cut them out, I only cut out the parts of the bracket that hung down, everything that was flat to the bottom of the frame stayed on and I welded the seams shut on them. So far, I've had no issues with them not being reinforced. If you look at it from a Statics point of veiw, now that there is no load applied from the stock LCA in that area, I can't see how they would do much, if anything anyway... Oh, I was in the same boat you are about not wanting to cut them out. I always had that thought about taking the lift out of the truck and whatnot. Truth is that you'll enjoy the ride MUCH MUCH more and in the long run they are well worth it. Now that they are gone, I don't miss them for one second for SO many reasons. ;)

Ok, sounds good. I like my engine the way it is right now. I couldn't ask for anything more as far as that 4.0L is concerned. I'm not gonna put this stuff in it. Thanks for the guidance guys, the biggest reason why I love this site!

    E85

This is probably THE dumbest question posted up today but since I haven't asked anything dumb for quite sometime, I figured it was my turn. 8) Can we run E85 in our trucks or is that just for the newer vehicles? I'm clueless on the subject of this stuff and an area gas station just started selling it... for 20 cents cheaper than 87 octane. Rather than research it for a few hours on the net I thought I would just ask here instead. ;) Thanks - Brent
  4. Yep, its coming along. A few more days and its done. ;) You and "Wanderin" are getting them  I can't wait to see your truck after paint. I think its gonna look killer! - Brent
  5. Very nice and clean truck!
  6. Yea, looks great!
  7. How much MJ is really left here? ;)
  8. I bought a gallon of the olive drab paint from the surplus store. Supposedly its made for amphibious vehicles. I figured I would go that route so its easily touched up and it was pretty cheap. :brows:
  9. Yes, it does  Thats the reason I got it cheap. It needed some welding done to it to repair a crossmember and it also had the remnants of that old camo paint job on it. Hopefully it will clean up with some paint remover jelly. If that doesnt work, I'll repaint it solid olive drab...
  10. Well, the seats are back in the truck and I've started working on other things as well. I had some problems with my radio and interior lights working. I figured them out and got them working again. Then I started work on cleaning up the body on the passengers side of the truck. I've also gone out and gotten some new rolling stock and a front face lift for the old girl. I bought the parts for the front end conversion from mrclean. There are all of the parts necessary for the conversion there but they are all painted a different color. I hope to get a quick shot of white on them all and get them on before I head back for college.
  11. Been Keeping Busy. I've welded up a canoe rack, bike rack and steering box brace for the old girl and I've been using it alot to haul parts for the white MJ.
  12. Anyone out there versed in doing this? I am still running the stock Jeep ones with the stainless steel caps on them but would like to upgrade to an ALL STAINLESS steel Lugnut for both of my trucks. I have seen far too many of the stock Jeep ones round off after they have been put on with an impact wrench by a tire shop and I don't ever want it to happen to me again... Anyone know of any places that I can buy SOLID stainless lugnuts, not ones with just stainless caps on them?
  13. Yah, I picked this one up for a song and dance, it needed some welding done to it and now that I've done that I'm going to be removing as much of the paint on it as I can. If that doesn't help its looks out then I'll repaint it olive drab ;)
  14. Just got it made up today, I'll let you know once I get it on the road
  15. Well, after a test fit of the design above (I made one out of wood just like it), I decided against it because it didn't seem stable enough and then I thought about problems with sight obstructions and all... I don't really like cops too much as it is. I ended up thinking along the lines that I was thinking originally and came up with the one that I built below... Pretty simple and still easy to store when its not in use... it bolts together and I just need to loosen them up to fold it down.
  16. Still want that sunroof? j/k I'm glad to hear you are OK. I can't imagine that was much fun... Is there a story behind it? Looks like you had quite a ride when it happened.
  17. Got it covered. Both engines are the '90 model year breed. ;) Never even thought about the possibility of a difference in them though, thanks for letting me know about it.
  18. Thanks A Bunch Guys! I'll let you know how it goes...
  19. Hey Guys, So I have been noticing a belt squeak on my '90 MJ and I decided to investigate it. I opened the hood with the engine running and noticed the Harmonic Balancer on the crank was turning in an un-true wobbly fashion and making my belt move back and forth with every turn. After shutting the engine off, a quick look at it again reveled that some portions of the rubber on the balancer were either already protruding or missing from it. So I decided that I needed to replace it. Question is: I have a parts 4.0L engine with one still on it and I am wondering how they come off of the engine. Will I need a puller to get it off? Also, will I be able to replace the one that I have with the engine still in the truck? (I'm hoping this one is a yes...) The part that I am referring to is listed on this website as #43 http://www.jeep4x4center.com/cherokee/E ... LowerC.htm - Brent
  20. Well, its been a long time coming but I did some more work on the '88 last night. I finally put my fender badging and other decals back on. :D I almost broke a sweat doing it too. Oh and I installed this gun rack to hold my fishing poles for the summer months. Another Tuffy ;) Truth is: I really am keeping pretty busy with building a bike rack that will mount in my rear receiver and a canoe rack to haul my aluminum one back to school in the fall. I still am doing things to the '90 (white MJ) as well. I would also like to fab up a steering box brace for the '88 and make some rocker panel sliders to put on it with the remainder of the time I have left in the summer.
  21. Well? What has happened? Still got it?
  22. I found out what caused the DW that I had by fixing things until the problem was taken care of...?
  23. You don't want to know... Pete, aren't these bolts the same ones used in the LCA's for the front end? If so, I would go to the yard and get some from there. I've never had one stick on the front end of an XJ/MJ... :dunno:
