No. Guys what I’m saying is I need one quick. Like before Saturday kind of quick.

Something I learned about the brand standard while working here at a ford dealer, Standard is the supplier of most, if not all of the sensors used on ford products. Granted ford products aren’t great but buying from standard should give another company that we can mildly trust with our Renix sensors.

Holy Schnikes!! Better be made of gold for that price. But I will note this when I go the route to change the flag nuts out on both Jeeps.

Anyone have a few spares theyre willing to part with? I ordered a new one but want to make sure I have one in time. Preferably from the states close to AZ but am willing to take a gamble on the mail the further out. Just need one. Thanks!

How to View HEIC Images?
eaglescout526 replied to AnotherOldJeepGuy's topic in Forum Issues, Ideas, Testing
Entirely possible. I’ve never fiddled with the settings but I just looked and haven’t changed them. Perhaps it has to do with me being on safari? Damned if I know haha. -
How to View HEIC Images?

What’s interesting is I’ve uploaded Apple photos before from my phone and they usually come out fine on both PC and iPhone. -
Ok I have been chasing the weirdest steering issue for the better half of 6 months now and I have boiled it down to the beam. My 2wd beam has been through hell since I have owned her. Burning the old bushings out, putting in poly bushings, replacing coils, replacing the poly bushings and cutting out the sleeves of the old bushings, not good and tight sway bar bushings which would lead to a death wobble which ruined what little gripping power the upper control arm bushing mounts had, ball joint replacements, stripped threads on the coil spring bracket, welded a nut where the old flag nut once was, oh and my slight accident I had where I crunched both drivers side control arms...yeah! Good times. Any how it is being replaced with this beam from an 86. I noticed a couple differences with this one, the UCA mount openings face the back vs the front of the Jeep. The mounts also have supports welded to them which I believe are factory. Other wise that is it. It should be an easy bolt in and should fix alot of the issues I have currently while fixing old issues of the past. Grabbing the beam from my parents house. Beam all cleaned up Beam reinforced to prevent future removals of the UCA bushings from damaging the mounts and had one of the existing supports welds fail and rewelded that. Yes I did do a test fit and the UCA with bushing clears just fine. I should be able to get this done before the AMC show. Beam swap should be started and done tomorrow while waiting on some new parts. But this should correct the steering issue I am having once and for all.

Decent 1989 XJ in KS

Good XJ right there. Had a cargo cover at one point. I do have one if anyone on here buys this. -
How to Straighten Bumper
eaglescout526 replied to James92's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
When I restored mine, it was heat and a BFH to knock out dents and fix any bends. -
Yeah it’s weird how AMC made nicer horn buttons on their budget vs Chrysler that actually had some capitol.
-
Should be grey actually. Chrysler at the end of that wheels life just shifted every color to black, I bought one years ago to just have a horn button. And those Chrysler ones are pretty meh for clip quality.

Fuel sending unit float

Sending unit between an 18 and 23.5 are the same. It’s the 16 that’s shorter arm. -
Yeah you stole it. Haha. Great 91.

Chunk, A 1984 XJ

love a good copper 84 XJ. Killer 2 door with nutmeg interior. -
So from my experience and knowledge, the aftermarket replacement clutch lines cater to the later years with internal slave but will work on the early years so long you have that line. You and every other 86 owner and me have the external slave with a special line that goes up and over the trans to the slave. I actually got incredibly lucky and scored two or three of them as NOS.

turn signals not canceling
eaglescout526 replied to Pete M's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Gotta clean every damn contact from the turn signal switch all the way up to the steering wheel and it’s surface it slides on to. It’s stupid sensitive. -
Orrrr Pete, the pressure switch is failing causing the system to cycle on and off like its doing. Thats another theory. But if its crazy cold, it could be charged correctly. Oh another thought that just occurred to me, our systems have a thermistor that cycles the compressor off to prevent the evap from freezing which is actually more of your issue now that I think about it. So if the thermistor triggers the entire AC system to switch off, why keep the fan running when the compressor isnt pumping any freon through the system. I dont have an Efan on the 2.5L to help figure this one out but thats just my idea on how its all operating. This being said, does the efan stay on the entire time until the thermistor reaches the temp to cycle the compressor on and off to prevent freezing?

Pre-90 steering knuckles

More like holy schnikes. -
Dirty contacts on the coil can be likely.

I…really didn’t take pics but I easily can. It was simple to do. But I forgot about the option above which is better, I just likes the idea of having some extra functions at my disposal.

One advantage to this set up I did with controlling when the axle goes into 4wd or not is that I now have access to 2Low when shifted into 4Low on the case. Not exactly why I did this, more just to have an early XJ piece that came with an advantage. I was able to eliminate the vacuum at the case and just get vacuum at the manifold to the light switch and down to the axle.
-
Or have some fun and put in an early style Selec-Trac vac switch in the console where the coin tray is. Did that on my 84. It’s actually fun, works and blends in as factory. But that’s just my 2 cents on what I did.
