Have any of my 2.5L brethren done any electrical fan installs? Kinda want to attempt to put a fan in front of the condenser type deal. I know there are low profile ones that could fit but just curious if any of you have tried this. No I don't want to swap out the mechanical fan.

This is the kind of peer pressure that isnt promoting the bad stuff lol.

Its your MJ. Purists will say not to do anything but restore it but were not all about that on here other than to support and praise each others builds.
-
You can replace the front with a chrome one, I would spend some time with the rear bumper and some heat and straighten that rare puppy out. Also Metric tons, including their nameplates, are not something we see a lot on here. Especially with a D44 and 5 pack leafs. I will be following this build.

Project: Cruise, a 1960 T-bird.
eaglescout526 replied to eaglescout526's topic in Member Projects: Other Cool Stuff
It really is! With them being home it will be alot easier to stay there and not have to worry about spending a little bit of time and waiting for it to cool off. Just gotta get the engine to run for a split second, wire up the new ignition switch and drop the gas tank and hopefully clean it, then try to actually just run it for a minute. After that, its committing blasphemy with the brakes by using an XJ master and proportion block. -

Have not. Grandparents will be returning from their stay in TN so I’ll be able to go spend some weekends with them and work on it. -
Just decoding some of the digits on the VIN. There’s a lot you’ll learn with the addiction.

This sounds applicable to 97-01 converted MJs. Is this true?

Well while CC was down I decided to touch up a portion of the dash that has not be touched yet. Figured might as well knock it out and make it look good. The velcro is for the dash cover for the glove box. Otherwise it looks damn good around there now. I also tried getting a quote from a dash company in CA and haven't heard anything from them and its been a few weeks. Figured something is going on over there or they are overwhelmed with orders. But the dash cover will continue to do its job in the mean time. Also changed out my coil springs(again and for real this time) to some NOS standard duty springs since they were $25 a spring. These ones have 9 coils over the previous 8 and JK 7. I wish there was a way to figure out which coil springs came on our trucks, in the catalog Chrysler says the springs are coded with 2 letters, could not find such with the VIN plates. But I am starting to suspect that 2wd 2.5L MJ's came with the light duty springs which makes sense. Would like to have gone heavy duty but those springs are pretty pricy. Some day.

This is an MJ Custom Metric Ton. Denoted by the eight digit. 65 says it is a 7ft box 4wheel drive. P is 4 speed column. Surprised to an 87 with 86 trim level.

Carbed 87 Comanche RENIX 4.0
eaglescout526 replied to kaidenlem's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Look into the AMC 4.2L set up to get you a good base on what you want to achieve. Then you can also look at the 2.8L and get an idea on wiring for the chasis there as well(even though the 2.8L was ECU controlled as well). In other words take a gander down the Jeep history trail and get some good notes along the way. You might have better luck securing a 4.2L intake manifold for your carb. But if you go the hot rod route you could take it further and build a stroker using 4.2L internals with the 4.0L block and head. Just a couple ideas and thoughts. -
in Kansas at a dealer
eaglescout526 replied to jdog's topic in Craigslist/eBay... i.e. Not Your Stuff
I would tell them to fix the decals and nameplate locations and spruce up the interior correctly and then I will consider paying them $6k for that truck. -
Is this mj going to be any good to get
eaglescout526 replied to Jesse J's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well as Pete said, it all boils down to what you want to do as it will be your truck. Biggest thing is rust which it looks like the passenger side floor board does not have. In terms of mileage, if the engine and trans have been well maintained, 312k on the odo is nothing for the AMC 2.5L or 4.0L. Overall it looks like a good MJ to work with. But seeing the truck in person will probably help you get a better idea of its shape. -

That’s absolutely wild. I think the owners took advantage of a photo op for them. I mean I do go there often. Edit. Dug deeper and saw that someone who was there the same time I was took those pics and posted them. Still really cool.
