Verify the injector is actually working.

I’ll create a separate thread this weekend but I figured I’d post that I got the ignition system working and it’s sparking. Apparently there was enough corrosion on the ballast to not let it spark. Soooo I dunked it in muriatic acid to get the crap off and now it’s sparking. Dumped some fuel in where I could and it sputtered and started.

paint matching Agate gray interior

Nope. I didn’t have the intention to find the later 97-01 colors as those have gone into the modern era of cars. If they are found I’ll happily put them in the post. -
Oh yeah haha. I still have that as a goal to run every last 8 of the VINs that comes across as an MJ…..I’ll have to get back to that one day

I’ve got some 2.1L literature. But that’s about it.

86 2.8L and etc value? Scrap it or hold out
eaglescout526 replied to ThatJeepGuy's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If it’s a manual trans, the trans has value not to mention its an external slave which is a nice upgrade for AX5/4 owners for the 87-94 years. -
Got the pass head off, broke some more bolts along the way and found that one of the exhaust bolts at the exhaust pipe was already broken half way. So more welding to do! Also got the pistons cleaned up I think they came out pretty good. Found out the lower head bolts were painted so I will be painting those now to match. Now to rinse and repeat with the pass head and get the exhaust manifold off and find some bolts to replace it the busted ones.
-
I think it’s one of those really specific things that I could look up manifold bolts all damn day and get nothing like this bolt. It’s like the CPS bolt for our Renix Jeeps.
-
Here is the bolt I broke. I am getting an NOS one thanks to a member for the lead on one. Not the broken one but that’s what these things look like. I keep telling myself MJs are hard to work with but so far the T/A 403 has proven to be a different animal despite there being more made than the MJ but I digress. Now for the rusted freeze plug one side is brass and the other is clearly iron to my surprise. On the bright side if it had any water, it all ran out this plug before it ever froze over. Also the head is in the shop. Probably won’t be ready till Wednesday when I will take the other head to be fixed.

I have one of these books. It sadly didn’t offer the 2.5L performance cam but it offered the 4.0L one.

AX-15 Mount Prices
eaglescout526 replied to howeitsdone's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Probably. Especially if people are tossing the BA10/5 and upgrading the AX5 to the 15. Hell they might becoming more scarce since it seems like nothing but the auto XJs are popping up more than a manual. -
Not many folks have stroked the 2.5L as most dump it and go for the 4.0L since it basically has the previous 4.2L crank shaft to help stroke it out. I say if it’s something you’re going to do, research the idea and do more research until your comfortable with stroking it out. I can’t say if it’s a good option or a good idea cause it just more depends on what you want to build and how you want to do it. A friend of mine and I want to stroke out the 2.5L. I have a spare block I’d like to try this with but don’t have time or funds at the moment.

Trailer Wiring Harness Questions
eaglescout526 replied to acfortier's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You can use those terminals. All terminals are created equal in terms of getting them connected to each other. -
What’s bad is I have two. Not including the one on my truck, my original and one I got from MJCARENA a few years ago. I really want to take my original one apart and fix it. But that’s a project down the road.
-
Well all there is is OEM for tail gates. Unless keyparts starts making them which they may not as that requires getting Chrysler to approve of the Jeep on the tailgate itself.
-
Well if there’s no aftermarket stamping going on for these, folks are gonna ask and if you tack on people making benches and tables out of tailgates and you find this one for the Jeep enthusiast to make either of those two, then it’s supply and demand value at that point. It’s like original tail lights.

Trailer Wiring Harness Questions
eaglescout526 replied to acfortier's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What about going weatherpack? 86 used those and they work fine and can handle various gauge wiring. Or if you look at other Chrysler cars in the yard from the same time period, you might find the connector you’re after. -
I had one guy a couple months ago pull up to my house while I was outside working on Chunk come up and ask if my MJ was for sale. Older gentleman too, in his 60's. I told him the she wasnt for sale. Told me about how they used to race them(which I knew about already but listened) and what not but I think they guy was upset that someone as young as I wouldnt sell a vehicle older than me but he seemed eager to get off my property in a huff after I said no...oh well. I rarely get asked.

No problem! Good luck!
