Hey guys, I was looking for some info on gauge clusters. The one in my mj is fine, but its the one with no tach and the dummy lights. I would like to switch it out for actual analogue gauges. I found a whole cluster on ebay and when I went to buy it, it had been sold. Now my question is there some sort of way to build your own gauge cluster in the original location or will it take too much work?

"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build

Sorry for the no update in a while. School and work have been rough, hardly anytime to work on Wendy. The goal is to have it done by Daytona Jeep Beach 2018 -
"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build

As of right now still not 100% sure what my next move with Wendy is. I don't know if I should prep the body for paint, or do all the interior work (buckets, center counsel, radio speakers), or finish the 4x4 swap (trans, tcase, driveshafts, steering), or do engine work... A lot to think about and ponder the next move for wendy -

I got the transfer case out, not sure if I want to use the np242 or np231. I have done some reading they both seem to be about the same minus the 4wd fulltime. do parts swap in between them? like planetary gears and such? I also finished taking everything I needed from the Cherokee I had and junked it for $150, not a huge amount of money but I didn't mind because it had served its purpose -
I'll definitely keep it in mind. Thanks bud

I was going to do the same thing when my transmission went out, get a nv3550. Where did you find the bell hosuing for it? I was trying to look for the 4banger one but no luck

"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build
Swampy replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Started to pull the np242 out of the Cherokee, Its almost out just 3 more bolts because it started to rain I also started to think about how I am going to move the intake up higher, I was thinking of doing a passenger side cowl intake (to keep the outside looking stockish) but no one seems to have done it with a tbi 4 banger -
Has anyone been able to snorkel a 2.5l tbi? Is there a company that makes one (even though I doubt that)? Is there a way to change the intake on the throttle body to make a cowl intake?

"Wendy"- 88 Jeep Comanche Build
Swampy replied to Swampy's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Sorry for the delay the Hurricane Irma has definitely messed with the timeline of this build. I am back, Wendy is unaffected. I am getting ready to possibly order a rusty's 6.5" long arm lift kit. I am still not sure about the lift but I am telling myself to hold out and get the longarms then to go short arms and upgrade to longarms. I have heard some iffy stuff about rusty's joints in the control arms Also noticed the Comanche has no power steering, I don't know if it'll be worth the upgrade once I get the bigger tires on and go offroading -

bump for more post -
The picture has some description that says like " this is not the actual product" or something along those lines

Where would you look for them?

I have read on the forum about swapping the bench for bucket seats and so on. But while looking for new/used seats brackets I found corbeau has seat brackets for our mjs and I wanted to know if anyone has used them or have heard about them Corbeau Seat Brackets

looks like they finally got around to making the AEV Brute straight from the factory

I think another thing I like about the longarm kit from rusty's is that the cross member is all bolt in, no welding required according to the website. guess the steering upgrade may have to wait a bit, or I can get them at the same time.

Rough Country 4.5 Lift Questions??
Swampy replied to ComancheLee's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You should still be able to use it. The front suspension of a 2wd is about the same as a 4wd one. The only difference between the two is that the 2wd version has a dummy axle in place of the dana 30 front axle. but other than that It should all bolt together based on the information I have gathered -
Thank You

Site looks good compared to the little bit of time I spent on the old format lol My one concern is that I went to edit my signature but I can't quite figure out how?

I have pieced together my own 6.5" kit with fixed lower short arms and adjustable uppers with parts from rusty's and iron rock offroad. It came out to about $1500 ( this is with steering upgrades, and all the perches for soa in the rear) The longarms themselves from Rusty's comes out to $830 for the crossmember and upper and lower arms. I don't know if I should go with my kit, or save the extra bit and just go longarms

I have done some reading here on the forum about rusty's 4.5" lift kit for the mj's. It seems like the lift that most go with from them. What I haven't heard much about is the 6.5" long arm kit that they also sell. Is it not worth it for the $1600+ price tag? It seems like most people run the rusty's 4.5" kit and piece together their own 6.5" kits. Can someone give a review or an opinion on this kit? Here is the Link

I love your truck I'm surprised I haven't seen you around. Once mine is on the road we should definitely meet up

Dang, so close yet so far. Well that answers that question. Thank you Pete

Hey Guys, I'm just trying to gather some more information about rear axles for my mj build. If going with a spring over axle setup the spring perches are 42" center to center? right? The Cherokee for example (the 8.25 rear axle) is 44.5" center to center on the spring perches, or is it the same as the Comanche at 42"? Correct me if I am wrong. Also I would have to fab a new shock locations for a SOA set up? Would the upper rear shock mounts provide an ample amount of flex and ride comfort if I move the bottom ones around? Or should I do them tilted towards the inside of the bed / \ <<< like that?

I like the way it looks already. I don't know how you held back from tearing it down already haha
