  1. WRONG!!! The Mobil 1 oil filters are made by Champion Labs, not Purolator. You may want to read these oil filter studies http://people.msoe.edu/~yoderw/oilfilterstudy/oilfilterstudy.html http://www.corolland.com/oil-filters.html Both of those web studies are a minimum of 4 years old... Do you know if the manufacturer of those filters has changed in that time frame??
  2. The wife is gone all next weekend... so I would be out.... So you bastards will scoop all the cool MJ swag....
  3. I was about to ask if that was the one that has been on there for sale for awhile....The pics made it look really nice.
  4. For the purposes of this discussion... the 2.5l requirements are the same as the 4.0l requirements. You still have a flat tappet camshaft motor and there lies the concern.
  5. Any question regarding the viscosity of oil you are using has quite a number of inputs into it that you haven't detailed here. Usage, environment and operating conditions are three of the major ones. Now when considering a multi-viscosity oil with a large differential, you need to be mindful of the additives in it. In a correctly operating engine, it is normally the additive package that wears down rather than the basestocks. The basestocks can be damaged by extreme operations, low quality, or abnormal occurrences(fuel dilution, coolant contamination, exhaust gases, etc.). The issue comes to the front when a particular oil has a relatively large amount of one type of additives. In this case a large amount of viscosity modifiers. 1 qt. of 15w-50 will have a larger quantity or more aggressive viscosity modifiers than a similar quart of 15w-40. Normally I don't like to run anything with a large spread, and I don't generally recommend my customers do it either. Now for the chart... An oil can still have above 800ppm of Zinc and still be SM rated, IF it is a diesel oil and carries the CJ-4 rating before the SM on the label. So one of three things has occurred with that chart. 1. They left off the CJ-4 rating 2. Its really API-SL rated and the SM was a mistake 3. It doesn't have that high of a level of Zinc or Phosphorous.
  6. And its on its way to its new home tomorrow or the next day. Originally I was gonna keep it around as a bit of nostalgia.. but another FSJ owner reminded me that another FSJ lover was out there looking for that specific piece to finish his or her project off...
  7. I can send you a complete V-8 ZJ set-up for $60 plus shipping. Direct bolt in.. but its solid Tie Rod and thicker ends rather than the hollow MJ/XJ version.
  8. Rob got some more pictures... but his GF's camera uses some sort of extinct memory stick and hermaphrodite PC cable. So he is trying to work that out... Pete forgot his camera at Rob's house(and his phone..guess his memory problems aren't just urban legend). I forgot mine on my kitchen counter. I think Brent may have gotten some and I know I saw Nancy with a camera. I posted the pics of my haul in the other thread though. In simpler terms they are out there....
  9. You won't find anything specifically saying how much zinc is the oils on your store shelf, because the API-rating does that for you.. If it says API-SM... its too low for the flat tappet camsharfts. That linked article isn't bad.. Its almost 4 years old so it does contain some things that were changed. Shell stated that they would be reformulating their Rotella oil lines to "match market requirements". In simpler terms reduce the Zinc and Phosphorous in it to keep it from clogging the DPF or any possible catalytic devices that may be installed on diesels in the future. Delo oil had some sort of change.. but I can't remember what it is....
  10. Here is what I bought.... A pair of Waggy fenders the same color as mine... A box of round headlight buckets and bezels... Final edition and Muscle grills for FSJ's A pair of Razor grills for FSJ's A box with some various wiring pieces for in-dash CB for FSJ's And the best piece of my haul.... Image Not Found A factory AM/FM/CB unit complete with the antenna duplexer and AMC microphone. And for of those that get the joke..... Image Not Found Image Not Found Are you happy now????? :fs1:
  11. Kids stole the batteries of out my camera when I left it on the counter here... :thwak: :thwak:
  12. Following you around listening to your rear axle hop around corners never got old...
  13. I spent WAY more money than I probably should have... :fs1: The guys got to see in person just how ugly the grill on my FSJ is in person. :ack: I have to stop giving Rob crap about living in "McMansion"-ville now... :( And... I managed to make my wife mad at me... I had forgotten I was taking her out to eat for supper. :fool:
  14. HEY!! That is my wife's number....
  15. Come on Nancy... get the skirt off and get your @$$ there.
  16.   :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Thanks I needed that laugh today....
  17. I've seen them both ways.. a drop down set on the tail.. or an air/electrically operated set that mounts underneath the truck.
  18. Funk you.... I'm usually waiting on you to show up...
  19. Totally agree.... After towing my XJ a few times with a less than desirable set-up.... Buying a proper trailer and cheapo tow rig.. was BY FAR cheaper than trying to rig substitutes up or the consequences. All told I had about $2k into a 17 foot car trailer and old Ferd P/U. Even now with swapping an FSJ for the Ferd, I'm still only about $3500 into the entire set-up, I've got plenty of room for the family and camping gear and the cool factor of tooling around in a woody.
  20. It would take ALOT of JD to make either not taste like crap.... Or a few Dos Equis first... ;)
  21. Voted.. Pepsi tastes worse than coke... but if we can help them spend all those folks money.. have at it...
  22. There is one near me also.
