  1. And the adventure begins..... Good to see you again.. Even if you did forget my bumper.
  2. I wonder if you could take one made for a Ford or Chevy and cut it down to fit. There are several manufacturers out there for them for the full-size guys. LMC being one.
  3. How enlightening. Then why do you continue to rent them if they are trash? OP, get a 6th generation (2004–2008) Chevy Malibu w. the base 2.2 L I4. No maintenance required until it reaches 200K miles. Then it needs an oil change. No class, no power, just runs and runs. Car of the year a couple of times during this span and runner-up also. Corporate policy... We have to rent cars in a certain class, you get whatever Hertz has in that class at that office. It used to be Taurus all over the country, but since Ford sold off Hertz its been either Hyundai or Toyota Corolla with the occasional Malibu thrown in. The Corolla and the Malibu are far and away better riding, handling and feeling cars than the Hyundai.
  4. NOOOO!!!! i have drivin a few focuses. they look cheap and feel cheap on the road. and my friend has a focus and is constantly having charging problems Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha..... a guy driving an El-Cheap-antra talking about how cheap something else feels... Every time I turn a Hyundai back into Hertz, I ask if they would like me to just wad it up and toss it in the trash. Want to talk about a vehicle that feels and drives like its gonna fall to pieces hitting grooved pavement.. its Hyundai Sonata and Elantra...
  5. For real. Jeep adventures with Rob are the best! x2.. he always seems to have something go completely sideways into funny-town.... Hence one of the reasons my trailer is probably going. Get the funny first hand...
  6. What are you doing with the pukey???
  7. Er... make that southeast. Make that stabbed/shot/carjacked then. Rob Yup.... and two hours east of me...
  8. Well.. mine is 18 foot.. flat, no dove tail. I have 4 foot ramps for it. They are fine to load a stock height Jeep. But forget loading any lowered vehicle on it. I have a 6-pin round connector for the lights and brakes. If its really necessary we could swap a 7 pin RV connector onto it. Brakes are good, tires are also.. I have only used it three times this year and all close to the house. I haven't checked the bearings this year. The wood deck has one crap board, but I throw a steel plate down over the hole, but the hole is growing a bit. If you wanted to go the dolly route... The Unicorn's plate and insurance would be fine to get you out there. Illinois does offer a temp plate for the return trip, but you would have to have the title on the new truck for that to work. Also State Farm has recently acquired coverage. You just need to call your agent and let him know.
  9. An hour east of Bobert... and you are real close to being wet... Welcome to our neighborhood of goofballs.
  10. Illinois is the same way. Rob.. I don't know what kind of trailer Peter has. But does the truck have a brake controller in the cab? My trailer has electric brakes on one axle. So the truck has to have a controller.
  11. I was gonna offer my trailer.. but if Peter offered his.. that's a moot point.

    BIG NEWS

So does mine.... Conely, GA???? That is that pretty close to your place Pete??
  14. My dad said his house in Mission is got blasted also. His neighbors called and said he had some damage in his yard, but his house was okay.
  15. Besides both being incomplete so the true cost is hidden.... Motion uses AAL and shackles for the rear...They might as well throw in some lift blocks for the trifecta of cheaply done lifts... Rusty's at least uses a leaf pack... Hmm... that parts list on the Motion parts sure matches up to the Rough Country one pretty close. Wonder if that is who he is using these days and repackaging their stuff. At the end of the day... neither of them is the right answer.. Both are incomplete, loaded with bottom end quality parts...
  16. One more reason to never go back to Colorado...

    New guy here.

Welcome Jerry!! I saw your post on IFSJA and wondered if Pat would get you on over here...
  18. The laptop I had that died right before the I got from you was a Toshiba. It worked fine for over 4 years. Then I got one of those russian anti-virus-viruses and that was the beginning of the end for it. I had a couple of trips close together and couldn't get time to get it in to have it worked on. Finally one day the HD just burnt completely out. I took it to my local computer place, and she gave me the 'its dead, Jim' news. The price of a replacement drive was really more than was reasonable for a 4 year old Toshiba.
  19. Why do you get excited by MJ stuff?? Same exact idea, different infection.....
  20. And yet.. George managed to get more work done than most of the people who work in customer dis-service at work...
  21. The mods will move this once they get awake... But there are a few in the St. Looney area and I think I remember one down further. There is at least one in the Central IL area. There are a handful of us in the Northern IL and Southern WI area.
  22. I've drooled on it...
  23. He said it was heading to somewhere just as salty...
  24. Apparently, so is rust. I had a '64 Gladiator with a 3"X16"X5' plank for a front bumper. I used it for a 'push truck' and used wood so I wouldn't scratch the chrome bumpers of the being pushed vehicles and I wanted it wide enough so it wouldn't climb over or go under their bumper. Worked great. Thought I'd seen all the local MJ'S but that's a new one to me. That truck has spent the last 15 years at least in the rust-belt. that's really not bad for a truck that has been used as a truck and not some garage queen.
  25. yawn..... Wooden bumpers are so...2005 I do like the trailer plug drilled through it though...
