It might not been the best idea but maybe placing a popup rig on a seven foot bed. Nothing fancy just shelter from the elements. Some thing that can be removed with jacks if needed. I like the idea of being high off the ground. Had bears in camp three times now and I hate it. Nothing like being woke up out of a dead sleep by the sound of having a bear in camp with nothing between you but a piece of nylon. Sucks, even with bear precautions if their use to humans they'll still come into camp. Kicking things around. I alway keep a 1911 45 next to me on camping trips but I don't want to use it. Maybe hooking up a small battery operated winch to raze and lower it. Use the space in the bed for storage and a ladder. Just a thought on an idea. I'm open to your thoughts. Throw it out there if you have any. Trying to keep it lower profile because of the winds blowing across the Mojave. Not trying to hijack thred Just see some great ideas here. Now I like that. I've been banging around some ideas on a 2 adult 1 child camping setup. Love the use of the MJ trailer. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Check the inventory on you local junk yards, check craigslist, letgo and offerup for adds that are parting out cars. Check all the yards near even the non self service yards. You may pay 70 for a set that are pulled for you or 35 at a pick-in-pull. Still well under the amount that you would invest n a set of after market gauges. Play out all of your options and be willing to put the time in to save the money. There are yards that handle nothing but jeeps across the country. They will pull it and ship it for you. Even if you payed 120 for a set with shipping your still way ahead of the game. Lot less hassle and money involved. Trying to make something work is a crapshoot. Then if it doesn't u have to pay for shipping to return it. I'm not sure if you can pull the idiot lights out of the cluster and replace the with factory gauges from a newer cluster. But they do come out relatively easy. The guys might have some better thoughts on this but that's were I would start rather then throwing down a lot of money that could go to new seats or tires or suspension parts. I have the same issue but mine is a column shift with the shift indicator window in the cluster. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's a hell of a good tip Whoway, thanks. That could solve some problems. That actually was the second set of seats I came across that I had to pass on. There's a greyhound station in KC about a 15min drive from my mothers house in Independence. Great idea. If you need parts and your taking a trip. Barrow some tools, take a morning and hit some of the local pick and pull yards. I have a blast each time. I treat it like a treasure hunt. I honestly believe theres allot of Scottish blood in every MJ owner because we can be so creatively cheap. But that part of the fun of it for me. Our club logo should actually in corporate the map of Scotland some how. Maybe a picture of BraveHart running down a hill to his MJ. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If the styling even gets close to this it's going to sell. The overseas sales will be huge. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ya that's what I'm thinking. To see this thing in person was quit a thrill for an MJ guy. I'm kicking myself for not getting a closeup of the badging. That would have told the tail. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Mom's 85 still alive but I would think about selling her to get my hands on this. My daughter better be really be a good girl. Because I could make this could fit in her bedroom. As a matter of fact it would make a really nice garage. My mother in law you could have her for a decent spare. No returns on her. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Found it outside a supermarket in CA. I absolutely loved it. Just a tough looking truck. Not sure if it's a kit or not. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Found this outside a supper market in CA. It must be the kit but I'm not sure. OMG it was a sharp truck. If the new truck even comes close to this truck then they have got a block buster on their hands. This truck exuded a toughness that no other pickup in its class can even come close to. There is going to be a lot of wranglers traded in for a truck like this. Hope the pic came through. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was 21 making a trip from KC to Dallas. My girlfriends dad told me to do 55 through Malissa TX because the town had annexed part of the HYW to run speed traps. It was 2am when we hit Melissa. Hardly anyone on the HWY. I was doing the speed limit 55 in the fast lane. All the sudden the car lurched and went into a side skid towards the median. I felt the car go into a roll. We rolled three times across the median and landed upside down in the in coming traffic I was upside in the set watching a semis lights coming rite at me. His breaks were locked up and smoke rolling out of his tires. Luckily he stopped with about 15 feet to spare. If he hadn't we would have been hit again and surely died that night. With help we both crawled out of the Datsun Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The older XJs are drying up in LA area too. I talked to a manager about it. He said he buys them and they go straight to the crusher. He said they don't sell enough parts off them to make it worth taking up yard space. I cringe at the thought of what he is crushing. You still can find some of them in pick and pull yards. These days I always check the inventory lists and the dates they were put in the yards before I put in the drive time. The Renix for sure are really getting thin out there. I'm from KC MO. When I go there I bring a extra empty hard case. I pay allot less for the parts and there is more XJs in the yards and the occasional MJ. Parts go in the case and they come back with me. 2wks ago I found a 2 dr xj with great seats in it. It was late in the day and I banged my head against the wall trying to think of ways to get them back to CA that made financial and logistical sense. They were about 36.00 for each seat. I eventually had to walk on it. It still drives me little nuts thinking about it. The suitcases can't weigh over 50 pounds, both of mine were rite at 50. I got one of the cases at GoodWill for 5 bucks. Just an old Samsonit but though as nails. On this trip I hit half price weekend and pulled 4" lift off an xj. There still was shiney not scratched up paint on the on the parts. Got the entire lift for about $35 including new set of Rough Country N2.0 shocks. They had some dirt on them but 0 rust. They look new. I pulled allot of parts and I only pull parts that look new or just flat out hard to get. I'll shut my pie hole now, but KC has some good you pick junk yards. 3 are pretty close to each other and 1 is on the KS side. I didn't see any MJs this time but heading back at the end of Oct. Fingers crossed that I will find an MJ. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Be nice to know if the motor or trans had been rebuilt. I'm rebuilding an 88 Eliminator and an 88 Pioneer. I lent my buddy a truck for about 7 months he suprised me and gave me his 93 Cherokee with 450,000 miles on it. It's not in that bad of shape and it had recently rebuilt tranny. That thing has saved me so much time and money. Instead of heading to the jk, I walk 15 yards to get my parts. I love hunt Jks for parts but it is such a crap shoot on finding the parts you need. Especially that part that's not produced any long that everyone needs. It's so nice to be able have it so available. Just the time saved not searching for parts is worth hundreds to me. Each time I drive to the closet pick part it costs me $20 in gas alone. So I say buy it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Well the MJ hook is in you deep now. This truck is going to be your baby. Wait till you get a chance to use it in the snow. Soon after I got it we had a snow storm. The snow was up to the doors and even deeper in the drifts that covered the roads. That old truck just plowed Rite through it. I was so impressed I thought rite then " I'm never getting rid of this truck". Once its in your blood it's hard thing to shake. There is no cure and you will love it. Welcome to the club. The loss of a child is the worst news a person could ever get. That pretty much goes without saying. The news leave us speechless. We imagine our selves in the position of those parents and our soul cringes at the thought and we push it out of our minds. My father retired from GM. He was working there when seat belts were becoming mandatory on cars. He saw the industrial films GM put out regarding seatbelt safety. To drive home the point they were quit graphic. Dad wouldn't leave the driveway without seat belts being buckled and he started that in 1969 or 68. The point of the story is I learned from him. Not just by his wards but his actions. Kids learn what they see. For a lot of us it's not a thought, it pure muscle memory. We sit in the seat and hands immediately go for the belts. Our children and grand children see and mimic our actions. So if your a big guy and belts are uncomfortable think about getting an extension. If the shoulder harness chafes your neck get a pad for it. In the past I kept an extension in the car for my friends so they would put on seat belts, it worked. When people say to me I don't believe in seat belts. I say would you like your grand kids not to ware one? That stubborn logic is a killer and it has taken many lives. The facts are that if your in a serious reck your chances of death increase by 63%with out your belt on. That is a fact from the (National Highway Transportation Safety Administration) it is not an opinion. The little ones that we love learn by watching what we do. If we buckle they will too. If we don't at some point and time, and it could years into the future, they won't buckle. Good and bad they follow the example we set. Every time we get behind the wheel it's a roll of dice. When we don't buckle we increase the chance of being on the other side of the dirt by 63% and 17% of us don't do it. It's a variable that we can control. By setting the example of not buckling we pass that increased risk on to the ones who look up to us for guidance. Eventually they will do what we do. I lost loved ones because they didn't wear seat belts. I'm sure allot of us have had that same experience. Expect the unexpected because it can and will happen. None of us are immune to that. If you think your are immune then your living in a fantasy world that looks like the inside of a coffin. I apologize for the highjacking of this thread but the subject matter couldn't be more important. Thanks for letting me share my thoughts and it is just that only my thoughts. I'm done. You could pull the valve cover make sure every thing is tight and within spec. You can pull the pan and start wiggling things get on the net and find out how to diagnose it from the bottom with the pan off. If it's a piston pin that's a lot easier to fix then changing the motor. If you don't know about piston slap get informed on it. So you don't miss anything. Another option is to pay for a diagnosis then fix it yourself. I think I can give you a place to work on it up here in Palmdale. I'm on three archers up here. I can help you out with some tools and know how too. Hell you could spend the night if you have too. I'm kind of FUBAR rite now with my knee replacement. I'm getting better every day but I would be limited. If it's the worst case and you need a replacement. I've got 2 HO long blocks I've been sitting on both have about 130,000 on them. Ones out of a 96 the other out of a 98. Don't lose hart though. I have had the worst engine noises turn out to be an easy fix. I've got s mechanic in that I would trust with anything. He owns two shops one in Santa Clarita the other in the valley off the 5. The only thing is it's a 2-3 day wait to get your car looked at. He runs an honest shop witch is like gold here in LA. Like I say don't let it get you down. Just think of it as a challenge it will work out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I would run the vin and see if you can verify mileage. Do a car fax on it. Check for accidents. Do you know what's under the seat covers. Is the upholstery in good shape. Not quit sure if I by the amount of money in the axles. Was the engine rebuilt or tranny recently. It's a nice all around truck. Maybe start at 11,250 and work up from there. See if you could get it for 12,000 or 12,500. One thing about buying it is if you keep it up you could drive it for 5-6 years and sell it for about what you have into it. It's a special truck and it's going to hold its value. Ask about any sound proofing that was done. Try verify the mileage. Those odometers can be changed. It not that hard Looks like he is doing a flip. Ask how did the paint if it's MACO beware. It really looks like a fun truck. It would be an attention getter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
