  1. Recently bought a short bed. Steering was really loose lots play. Got it up on the highway and was driving at home on the 405 in LA. Crazing along in the far left carpool lane. Hit a series of bumps just rite and thought the truck was going to shake to pieces. Felt like an earthquake. Made it home and this is what I found. Worst one I've ever come across. Replaced it, now there's just a slight shimmy every now and then I have to track down. This was the po's daily driver to and from work on LA highways from Compton to Long Breach. I just thought wow dude. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  3. Ya that's always lurking in the back of my mind. I'll be selling it in the LA market and they are making a move upward. But I known for getting very detailed witch in this case wouldn't be a wise idea. I want to build a safe reliable truck. It can become somebodies baby and they can put the details into it. Spending to much time on details could sink the ship. I like DurtyManches idea of pulling pulling the shell off of it. I think I could sell that separately. It's got to come off anyway because it came with a broken sliding rear cab window. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Roger that Durtymanche So Cal is correct. Thanks for the input. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Retired hospice nurse for real. You don't want to know what I used my Comanche for. That's typical hospice nurse dark humor. It was a copping mechanism yeah had to have it. Hope my last ride is in a Comanche. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Guys I could use some input. Picked up an 88 eliminator a few weeks ago. I've already got an 87 4 x 4 Pioneer that I love and a 2001 XJ Sport up country. The Eliminator I'm fixing up to sell. The purpose is to fix it up and flip it and get it back into circulation. Make some money buy another and do it again. It was a work truck and on its way to the crusher if it wasn't saved. The decision I'm banging around in my head is to change to 4wd or leave 2wd. I come from a hotrodding background and love the idea of a sporty speedy little pick up but I also think that if I change to 4wd it will bring more money. I really like the history behind the Eliminator package but more money =s more parts for the next truck. It's the old leave it original or modify dilemma. I'm going back and forth. I would like some thoughts on it. I brought this to the forum because it's a jeep thing and I'm not sure if others would understand. . Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

  9. Welcome, you did really good on that truck considering the scarceness of the Comanche there. It looks in decent shape. It might be cheaper to have brackets made there. Take that bumper to a mettle shop and get an estimate on getting it straightened. You might get lucky and your headache will be gone maybe for allot less then shipping. Some of the dodge trucks ran the same type bumper. I have a bent on both ends original on my 88 Eliminator and FRY bumper on my 87 Pioneer 4x4 long bed. Frankly I prefer the FRY much stronger. An auto restoration shop should have a line on a good mettle guy. I'm kind of liking that red interior. Your lucky it's in such good shape. Makes that rare truck even rarer. Best of luck to you. I'll look for your build. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. If you do a search on this forum you should be able to find some great info on that subject. Frequently found under the older 4x4 mj and xj. Found 1 under an 86xj wagoneer with a tow package in a junkyard 2 weeks ago. Car was in very good shape for its age. It was to late in day to do anything about. Got some good parts off it. Went back the next week and it was crushed and so was I. CA is like that they crush them and they are drying up around here. Make frequent trips to the junkyards or look for a downer. You can still get what you need just getting harder to find. I looked for 2 yrs for an out of the ordinary lite wood grain door trim and I found it on that xj. Best of luck to you. 18. Looks great, love to see these trucks get a second life. Good job. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. I have those flag mirrors on both sides of my Eliminator. Good lord those things are useless. Flat out dangerous to depend on. It seems no matter how you set them there's a significant blind spot somewhere. It's like their set to far back towards the rear on the door. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
