  1. Ditto here!! I did'nt even think about it, figured it was just the way they were. Now if you want flush, try a Ranger.
  2. Lower left - blinkers Upper right - emerg. flashers When my blinkers indicators were always on I checked the sockets. I was able to clean the rears up but the 2 in front were toast. I replaced the sockets, now all good.
  3. Simple Green "Automotive" works great and doesn't stink up the driveway. The local pressure wash place here won't let you spray down a motor with anything else. I guess it's "green". Over and above that, like I said, works great. Spray on, let sit, garden hose, ba-da bing!
  4. Great for corrosion/oil gas etc. but I'm really looking for a fireproof mat, in bulk, even the rubber spray on "underliner" can't claim any temp. limit...I'm still looking for sound deadening. What I really need is some kind of fire "resistant" blankey, glued to the inside of the hood. Aircraft, ship, DeLorean? :dunno:
  5. Look at my picture (avatar)...I didn't see a Jeep logo...I'll go with the Ferrari, I'd be so cool at the AM/PM. People would think my MJ was a Ferrari!! Totally!
  6. So, other than a pad from another Jeep, is there a product for hood insulation??
  7. I'll run down there with my domestic engineer. She's politically correct, I think it's a bunch of %#$*&_'n bul%@*!! caused by the &@#%*#. Any hoo that's what I was thinking. Thanks for the target donor...though it seems that my favorite ASE is a RENIX gold mine. Anything over 95 still has folks living in them!!
  8. I'm searching for recemmendations for some sort of blanket, insulation or mat to put on the inside of the hood. More for sound deadening than "insulation", but something that will hold up to the heat. I have hood vents, but I'm looking for something that will make the hood sound like THUD instead of KLANCK.
  9. In my search for a camper shell I've found that the closest to an MJ is a pre 94 Ford Ranger. S-10's are about 1" shy width wise but almost perfect length wise. I have not looked at the earlier Dakotas or Toyotas Your results may vary, break out the tape measure.
  10. No year of seat bracket is a direct bolt in from XJ to MJ (the floor is different). Almost any year seat will fit if you remove the bracket from your current seat, bench OR bucket, and re-install them on the new seat. Do not get seats with the curved (rocker or rocket) sliders. They will seat you about 2-3 inches taller. If you are 5'5", OK, if you're 6'+ you'll be rubbinbg the headliner with your head.
  11. No, those are Toyotas. I don't know about the later models, but I've personally never seen them as stock.
  12. I installed those on my XJ, I like them. I also put in the LED dash lights, white too. My only regret is putting an LED in the hi-beam indicator...MAN, that sucker is bright. I've been meaning to replace it with a regular bulb cause it shines straight into my eyes at 5 am on my way to work, my eyes ain't so good at 5 am.
  13. ID is 5/8" OD is a little bigger :dunno:
  14. Also posted on NAXJA but I guess just about everyone's on vacation. My 88 MJ has a tick, especially when cold, but it doesn't go away completely. I've put the stethoscope on the valve cover, nothing. It has a slight exhaust leak (proven when I seafoamed it) towards the rear of the engine. I stethoscoped the manifold, all the front components are new cause I've revamped the thing (water pump, alternator, A/C compressor, P/S pump, harmonic balancer). So my question is: I know the AW4 has flexplate bolts that can work loose and cause a tick, but is the same with a 5 speed? Can the flywheel bolts work loose and cause the same tick? OR would the exhaust leak increase or decrease the tick as it warms up? Like I said I've run the stethoscope all around the engine bay, top end, oil pan, sides of block and cannot isolate the ticking. I've also changed the oil twice, seafoamed, MMO the first change to clean things out, Lucas oil stabilizer the second change. No difference in ticking. When it's at operating temp the tick is less pronounced but still there at idle. When I'm reving or running the tick SEEMS to go away, but I know the ticks just get closer together and blend in with the engine roar. It doesn't seem to affect the performance of the engine, still runs very strong without any stuttering, backfiring etc.
  15. X2 on the injectors. ...but, I had a pretty significant leak on both of the little rubber hoses that the fuel filter attaches to. Couldn't see it unless I had the key on, or running, but it was leaving puddles. I have a gravel driveway and I couldn't see a puddle until I was in a parking lot.
  16. Just my own opinion...but...fuggin fugly. Put a trailer behind it and drive it to the Senior Center. May be up to the job, but really, would you take it to Moab or even to the store?? Turn in your MJ badge. ...and those pipes?? Somebody is overcompensating for shortages elswhere...what a nudge!! ...once again, my own personal opinion. If anyone listening wants to pimp their Jeep, this is surely the way to go. Great workmanship, I wish I had the time and skill to do alot of this stuff, but I don't have a pimpmobile.
  17. If the clock works at all you should be able to see the display, if you look carefully, lit or not. The bulb socket is just a little plastic thingie. There are no wires to it, it's powered by a sort of mini circuit board. Look on the back, little white thing, twist it out, there's the bulb.
  18. If you go to the other end of the cable and pull off the speedo gear housing you should find the other end of the cable. If not hold the sheath and push from the other end. It has a square end too. That square end has to be engaged in the T/C end, and the other square end into the gauge cluster. I thought I broke mine too until I went to remove it. It was still intact, it had just been pulled out of the T/C end.
  19. Well, it certainly is purple supercalifragilisticexpialidocious back at 'ya
  20. OK, Is it a vacuum disco axle or not? I know my 90 XJ is...and I think that some 91's were. I'll go out and look. But I'd bet you a nickel it has something to do with the light. I don't really know enough about the light switch to know for sure. Pete?? ...OK, I just went out to look under the dash in the XJ (90). All I see is the yellow box (cruise), the aluminum box (ECU) some relays, blue, white, black and a blue box in the fuse block area with a plastic stud on the end of it. I didn't get a great look as we're having a kick @$$ T-Storm here and it's hailing and raining but I did not see anything I would call purple I'm driving the XJ to work tomorrow and I'll look again...or maybe I should look at the 88 MJ???
  21. There is no D30 Rear. D35 Rear? D30 front.?
  22. Jeezus Creezus did you guys go to school?? antidisestablishmentarianism the H happened to the H. Prolly just mist it. Prolly I've never seen a purple box, and I've been through 2 XJ's and an MJ, but if it says Dana on it it's likely something to do with the light for the axle (Part Time, Full Time) or it's a relay or...I dunno...what year? There are lots of differences with FI and electric between <90 and 91>. Please include that info, all XJ's are not created equally.
  23. Just make sure you have all the pieces & parts, including a front axle (sorry, but you didn't mention an axle). You'll need: ECU TCU Shift plate, cables, etc. T-case linkage Wiring harness Just to name a few pieces. ...and a front axle.
  24. I removed mine altogether in the XJ cuz I have a clock on my CD. Put the spot to better use.
  25. Vents - either stationary or moving. I got my movable vents for my 88 MJ from a 94 XJ. Rollups - same window Not so sure about the windshield, top of the cab is shaped slightly differently, but probably fit in the hole. Back doors & hatch - Ha Ha - thought you had me there huh?! :D
