I like my XJ for trips to the snow & skiing WITH my wife. I like my MJ for trips in the summer and camping WITHOUT my wife. Lots more comfortable for those not in the driver's seat. Where I live there is an XJ or a ZJ in every parking lot in town. Not an MJ to be found.

The fact that they won't turn off is a problem likely in the switch itself. To remove the circuit breaker for the wipers just pull it off the bottom of the fuse block. Straight out. You could also try pulling the wiper module out and reattching the two halves of the plug...you won't have intermittent wipers but it may solve the problem until you can troubleshoot the main (switch) problem.

Cant figure out my steering issue
ParadiseMJ replied to The_Devils_own's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would do the whole pump (w/reservoir) and lines, pressure and return + o-rings. I did the pumps on my XJ and MJ in lesss than a day...and I'm no pro. Hardest part was flushing the fluid and bleeding the air. Open up the reservoir while it's running and see what's going on. Is the fluid foamy or milky? The MJ had tranny fluid in the PS reservoir, it looked like a Strawberry milkshake...water, air and low level...but it still worked!!? The XJ had the blackest, black, blackness for fluid. It whined and moaned like a Jewish princess (NOI)...and did NOT work. -
leaking slave cylinder...
ParadiseMJ replied to aquiring93's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So now I'm confused... :???: are we talking about a clutch or brakes?? -
You shouldn't need to pry on it at all. Hard to see but in the engine compartment (on the engine side of the fuse block) right in the middle of the fuse block there is a small (like 6 or 7 mm) bolt. That needs to be removed, it can be a pain to get to but it's gotta come out...and then the 4 screws on the inside and it should just pull apart.

AHH Ebrake blows Brake fuse
ParadiseMJ replied to XxStirCrazedxX's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The only electricity around (or actually through) the e-brake is for the dash brake indicator. Do you mean the whole circuit for the brake lights is popping? Or is just the dash brake indicator fuse blowing? -
I have the piece that bolts to the underside of the bed. I do not have the little piece above...where the cables come together...the equalizer?? This is what I have MINUS the small piece. Yes, I have PayPal. Just PM me and we'll do it off the board. Addresses and everything. Can't say for sure but I don't think shipping will much over $10-15.

I have a good one that I've been trying to sell, but if you pay shipping you can have it for free. I pulled it out of a rust free SWB MJ. It's slightly oxidized but in perfect shape otherwise. A little rustoleum and it'll be perfect. Just PM me and I'll try to figure the shipping. Don't know about compatibility for an XJ.

The extra hole is a keeper hole. It goes nowhere, no other end so putting a plug or a screw in it does zip. It's just there to orient the MAP line and keep it in place. You can easily put some RTV on it to hold it in better.

That's an indication that you have a "problem" with that side light (front or rear). Could be a bulb...but I'd have agree with Pete that you'll likely need to address the socket, up to and including a new socket. I replaced all my sockets when I was building my MJ up, there were just too many issues with each and every socket. The only ones that did not need replacing were the little yellow push in type.

Jeep comanche window tint prices?
ParadiseMJ replied to Paul Bruchal's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I was quoted $90 to do the rear slider in limo black and the sides in a light UV layer. Technically here in CA, according to the tinting guy, it's illegal to put any tint on the side windows unless it came that way from the factory. He'll do it, but the ticket would be mine. This is the same guy that charged me $180 for my Nissan GXE and $200 for the wife's Camry. -

Speedo needle sticks at 5mph
ParadiseMJ replied to 1987Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Make sure the square peg is inserted solidly at the transfer case and behind the dash. I pulled my cluster and just pulled a bit on the cable and it dislodged the spinner. There is really only about 1" of play back and forth from the t/c. -

Here's the vac lines from NAPA, start here: The valve cover lines, front hose to the mess in your first pic. In the back is the CCV without the grommet. Here's the old grommet: ...and the new one. The front vac line The rear vac line goes from here to the intake manifold ...here... Line from FPR to manifold the left side inthe pic above The big front line goes from the VC thru the plastic "loom" to the intake The MAP sensor -

IMHO The second one is the EGR solenoid, the MAP sensor is on the firewall, that's the fender. The vac lines are hard plastic and kinda fragile...but you need those. Even if you could get past smogging it it'd make you truck run like crap...or super bad mileage. -
Welcome. Your numbered issues. You will hear alot of things referring to RENIX for the 90 and below engine/drive train etc. A combo of RENault and bendIX. 1. 4.0 engines (especially after sitting?) will make lifter noise. I got mine from a barn after had been sitting for 3 years. It made noise. I changed the oil, ran some Marvel Oil through it, changed oil again. Ticking really reduced. since I've been driving it it makes almost zero ticking except at cold start. 2. Another problem that seems inherent with the 4.0. Turn the key to on, wait 5 seconds, turn to start. 3. Here's a labeled diagram of the main relays for a RENIX 4.0. There are more relays in and around the dash area. 4. The good: RENIX era diagnostics can be done with a digital multi meter as there is no on board diagnostics The bad: there is no on board diagnostics. 5. Yes, I use Simple Green to clean engine. I have also taken apart almost every eletrical connector and cleaned and greased them and put them back together. 6. Lots of people use those stores and sites you mentioned...some parts just can't be found except at a junkyard. Anjything from a RENIX Cherokee willlwork for the MJ. Good luck. More info to come from this group...

Interior Plastic Part Restoration
ParadiseMJ replied to glundblad's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I use diluted ammonia to remove grimy stuff on plastic/vinyl. I use Oxy-Clean on cloth/carpet/seatbelts. I use stuff similar to the 3M product on plastic/vinyl. Lasts, looks good. I like the heat idea too. -
I have to agree. I've had rectangles on my XJ forever...it just figured. I bought round KC's for my MJ and took them straight back to the store after I held them up there. Just didn't look right....but everybodys got their own idea of what looks good.

I agree. I had the rocker sliders in my MJ...way too tall! Easier to find different seats. -
New aftermarket MJ Bumper!
ParadiseMJ replied to Rymanrph's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I like the way it ties in waaaay back. I have a ball on my step bumper...I don't trust it much. I do like my step bumper though...a little wider would fit the bill nicely. It coul also stand be diamond plated, shiny or black. -
Are you expecting trouble with the marijuana or cocaine cartels, mafioso, swamp men?. Sorry, but pretty much any real bad @$$ criminal that comes at you is going to be better armed and much more determined to "getcha". So, are you prepared to stab, slice, hack or shoot someone because they're messing with your tool box...I didn't think so! You have a much better chance of hitting a deer or getting creamed by a Casino Tour Bus gone crazy. Relax. Just enjoy your road trip and carry a AAA card with you. If they do "getcha", disregard this post.
