  1. Been thinking about fabbing up a steel rod with a slight bend to it if nobody has any better suggestions. Probably going to need both of them replaced eventually.
  2. This is the piece that pushes down on the Park release when you push the floor shift button in. What is it called? Do they still make these and where do I find it? If unavailable any ideas on fabbing one up?
  3. Very nice that blue really sets it apart.
  4. I commute about 250 miles per week so everybody gets a turn.
  5. The brackets are very different, the MJ column bracket is shorter. Not sure on the cable year 96 or older the yard didn't have anything that new. Going to mess with it some more and see if I can make the column cable work. The shifter ends look like they match up.
  6. For those that have done this swap did you use the column cable bracket at the transmission or did you use the bracket off of the donor? The reason I ask is that with the donor fs cable on the donor XJ bracket the cable is about 3/4" short. Another question can the shift lever on the transmission be moved an still function correctly?
  7. I'm in Oklahoma hauling crude oil and we are filling up here as well. They are trying to keep us working as much as they can for as long as they can. Taking some time off next week to help free up some work for others.
  8. Morons! Maybe worth about $20.
  9. Went back and looked at everything no luck. Is it possible that the sending unit has kicked the bucket? I can run without a gauge but it would be nice to have it working again.
  10. I finished the 4wd swap and pulled the full gauge cluster to change out the speedometer cable got all the gauges back except the fuel. I think I had the plug for the pump undone (can't recall why). Fuel pump works fine but gauge won't move (needle sitting level under the f mark). Gauge was working before I started all this. Any idea why it suddenly quit?

I replaced my Craftsman ratchets with Snap on 90 tooth ratchets I found used on ebay. Night and day difference between them, should have done it years ago. I wouldn't make my worst enemy use a Craftsman ratchet.

Very good post above Eagle thank you. Not sure if this would be good example but here goes anyway. Stop all hunting for 1 year. I know this would a hardship for a lot of families that depend on the meat but stay with me. When all the people that whine about hunters killing poor Bambi are then hitting one with their car 3 times a week and watching them drop dead on the lawn from starvation, they would then be screaming for us to kill them again. If you remove guns from the common people there aren't enough police and military to protect us all from the evil that will be brought upon us.

Harbor Freight sent me the 20% off coupon for the new line of Icon tools. I've been using the cheap torque wrenches for years and the Icon looked a cheaper alternative to the truck brands. I bought it and the 12 pc. torx bit set. I haven't used them yet but the torque wrench feels like a real quality tool.
  14. Can you use the rear door check in the front? I thought it was only the front door checks worked on either side.
  15. Driver side door check is broken inside the door. I need to replace but I would like to know if the after market ones are any good or would I be better off with a used one?
  16. Seen about 6 in my travels around the state. I live in central Oklahoma, and I have the only one in our town (pop about 6000). There was a long bed across the river but it disappeared awhile ago. There is a black one with a factory roll bar about 40 miles from me that I have thought about trying to get once I have my shop built.
  17. Awesome that you got it fixed and running good! When I end up doing the wife's KJ it's getting a new engine. Over 235K and it uses oil like it's free. No joke on the heater core it was about an 8 hour job and hopefully it will last another 10 or more years.

    Shifters

Automatics for me anymore. Been driving big trucks for over 20 years and my left leg is worn out from shifting (mostly local driving). My current company went all auto late last year and it is so much nicer to put it in D and go. The YJ got the AW4 3 years ago best mod yet.
  19. Just the pan. The 4wd trans I got didn't have the cable so I pulled the 2wd one and used it. Real PITA to get it installed.
  20. About 1200 lbs of garden soil and peat moss for the garden this last spring. Front end was a little squirrelly on the way home.
  21. That's kind of the way I was leaning with the powder coat too. Got the Dirtworx bumpers for the YJ powder coated about 3 years ago, still look new.
  22. The Mule is 30 years old and is really showing his age. The bumpers are faded and more gray than black. Any suggestions on the best paint to use on them? Something that will last for another 30 years would be nice. Thanks in advance.
  23. mjeff87 The passenger side valve cover is the one that leaks (known issue). Drips oil on to the manifold/exhaust pipe area and then enters the passenger cabin. Never had an issue on the driver side but I had both gaskets so I dove in head first. Wife's 04 (235K and still chugging) is burning oil so if we hang on to it I'll be dropping an engine in.

    scam or not...

That 20V XR impact is a workhorse. No more busted knuckles using a breaker bar. It really is like having an air impact without having to drag out the compressor. I bought the 3/8 version for the hard to reach areas just haven't had a chance to use it yet.
  25. Still looking for a dark blue console.
