  1. I do 75 mph on the way to work every day , sits at about 3000 RPM , maybe out here on western side of things we drive a little faster , I wouldn't drive my truck if it couldn't get out of its own way . 31"s with the 456's , it straight gets up and hauls , once I upgrade to 33's I'll even get a better highway ratio . So my opinion is just throw the 410/411 gears in it and be done with it . All in all I've improved gas milage as I've learned the new gears and how they effected my gear box .
  2. Yeah and I was going to take the pass this year , doesn't look like they'll open it up anytime soon either ... :shake:
  3. damn, I had one of those and gave it away. :fs1: (I even had a chunk of diamondplate covering up the gap  ) Even if I got chrome blinker posts for the front bumper, I can't compete with a plaid seat cover AND a gun rack. :ack: (from the sounds of it, I just KNOW that plaid seat cover has the magazine pouch on the front edge  ) :rotfl2: At least I still have the topper ...
  4. It's on! (furiously digs through JC Whitney catalog for gun rack, curb feelers, and chrome plastic hub caps) :rotfl2: Don't forget the topper that does't fit ...
  5. No rust anywhere , its actually cleaner than my 92" , its actually funny everything that works on the 91" doesn't on the 92" and vise versa , however Bam-Bam is way too clean to part into the 92" ( Pebbles ) . Future plans are mainly based off of a street truck foundation , I'm going to keep it a DD but my ultimate goal is to run this as a drivable street rod . Plans include : LS1 V8 swap Direct port fuel injection 4 linked D60 W/ 410/411's depending on tire and motor selection . Probably going with a column shift auto 3 or 4 speed trans ( don't know whats available ) All this is a pipe dream but we'll see , the body and all other components will be restored , not modified .
  6. The AMC 20 was an OEM part they put on the MJ , to find one sprung under is the way to go if your looking at a direct bolt in , However so was the 44 , They have put both axles in Jeeps as far as I can remember .
  7. WOOOPS , Sorry when I hear front end , I start thinking of 90% of the whole truck is front end . Header panel and front clip ? New style fenders and doors , front header panel , lights , wiring and vac canister relocation ? What else ? Oh' the new style strikers in the jams !
  8. Thanks , I'll be working on it as a DD for when the 92" is apart for body work .
  9. What parts ? LCA's , UCA's , coils . They can be done for a major improvement over stock . Non disco HP D30's were common in the 90"s , brake upgrades and motor upgrades as well . Let us know what you want to do ..
  10. Thanks man , I kinda liked your grandpa street Jeep project ... Figured I'd get one of my own ..
  11. Ok , I'll admit I was jealous of mr Jimoshel for snatching up a super deal on that free MJ the other day , so I've been holding off for a sweet deal . I figured thats not the kind of thing I'm ever lucky enough to find . Well I was wrong . Just by chance I had come across an add on NAXJA about a guy who had a project that needed finishing , originally it was posted for 1200. then 1000 about a week later . To my luck no one snatched it up before I could get my hands on it . Gentlemen , meet our newest edition to our family , say hello to Bam-Bam ... He's a 91" SWB Sport-truck , 4 cyl , 2wd , D35 w/410 gears . Motor runs rough but runs , steering sucks and there are some cosmetic issues I'll have to deal with . However it rides like a champ and smooth and quiet . Picked him up for 500 $ . By far my best deal I've ever found . Image Not Found These are some picks of the work I did today , not bad for a days work . Image Not Found Image Not Found All the extra parts he came with .. Image Not Found They finally meet .. I got a new battery , hooked up the intake and rewired the terminals on the battery cables ... Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found Got the saggy headliner out as well . Image Not Found Image Not Found Ran out of sunlight ...
  12. I finished painting my D44 Diff cover last week , got it installed with some cheerleader bolts . Also I've been working on a 96+ XJ console refurbish and install . Before : After: Installed : Got the console finished ! Before : After : The console dried to a satin matte finish and I'll probably throw a coat of clear on for better durability .
  13. You know you'll never really be done with it , if you get another project that one will feel left out ... You'll start feeling guilty and find something to do to it .
  14. Humorous part = Imagination ! Mature part = No pics !
  15. I'm just going to throw this out there , 5 ton ?
  16. Yep , 410's with 31"s you won't regret it , my 456"s are too steep for 31"s as we all know but the 410"s are perfect . A nice blend of performance and function . I can still use first even with the 456"s , I just don't need to ... Actually installing my gears helped with milage since most of the roads in town are tall hills , way better than the ever hated 307's .
  17. That ones pretty rich ... :clapping: I think the price needs needs some mods ..... :shake: Jimoshel , you don't count anymore , I think your a couple MJ's away from being the unofficial center for rehabilitated Manche's .... :rotfl2:
  18. I'd like to but thats a good drive for the princess , I may talk the wife into it . I don't know if I'll have my bike done by then ? I sure would like to make it up there .

    NEWB.

Nice score on the 91" , looks like a good base to start project .
  20. Thanks man , Its all about this site right here , before these guys if someone were talking about an MJ , I would have said " I don't smoke" .... :chillin:  I'll have some more pics of stuff I've been working once I have time .

    NEWB.

    Welcome and .... :needpics:
  22. I'm just throwing my two cents in there , I wish I could find a complete XJ to part out , that would make my job allot easier and cheaper in the long run .
  23. I still say snag the whole truck . ;) By the time you add everything everyone mentioned , might as well score the whole truck if you can .
  24. Gee, Guess I was wrong. :rotf: Well at least you know a story behind this one , our own advise got you a truck ... :rotfl2:
  25. I run 35" tires and an Aussie locker in the stock D30 with the larger u joints. I have had the front axle hopping and bouncing without a problem. All the breakage I have had was initially caused by a seizing Timken unit bearing on the freeway. Have not had a problem with the diff or shafts. A friend of mine runs 35" tires on a ZJ with an open D30 and he has blown two sets of spider gears so far. I have no spider gears, so.... Thats why is has a good reputation for a small axle , however if I threw 35"s on a stock open diff , knowing my luck the turdy would $#!& the bed right then and there . Of course , I've had my own D44 buy the farm from a bearing going bad right out the box ... :dunno: Maybe I'm just used to Murphy's Law always laying the law on me ... :dunno:
