  10. I just read the book again just to make sure my ADD hadn't taken over through my reading and yes , it states that the 92" chain cover and timing chain are different from the 91". It also shows no need to install a gasket on the cover ( 92" only ) ..... :rotf: I knew something was up when I say my 92" had a gasket . :hmm:
  11. Your right , its the Hayne's manual ... :shake: , I checked NAPA and they said it was the same part# as the 92" . i Also ordered a timing chain gasket set and seal from them as well . Thanks for the help , thats why I asked you guys , I knew something was wrong .
  12. Thanks Jim and Geonovast for the input , I think this dammed Hayne's manual has me confused , which isn't hard for me considering my ADD .... Jim , your not getting another one that easy ( this time ) ... :clapping:
  13. See now the parts store and my Hayne's manual said that there is a tensioner on the 91" but not the 92" different part# from NAPA as well , In the book its installed different as well from the 92" . Or is it all the same thing , I can not get any info on the difference on timing chains from 91-92 on the 2.5 L . At least in the book there is no tensioner ?
  14. The thread is about Jeep building a production pickup truck. If we're willing to suspend belief long enough for that topic, the thought of selling them for $24,999 should be a walk in the park. You should be glad I didn't mention that I want my to run on Unicorn Tears & Puppy Farts. ;) :wavey: :D  :rotf: :clapping: That things just too bad@zz , if they actually come out with it I'd find a way to sell all my puppy farts to get one .
  15. I am replacing the timing chain on a 91" 2.5 motor with the tensioner . Since its been making a loud noise I thought was coming from the cylinder head . I figured I would go ahead and just purchase an entire gear and chain set , with the tensioner from NAPA . My question is why was there a difference in the 92" 2.5 being that it has no tensioner , can I use the new style gear set without the tensioner or do I need the old style gear set ? I don't know much about the 2.5 but in most of the things I've been reading I don't see very much on either motor . Are there any other things I should replace wile I'm in there ? Water pump , timing cover gasket ? Thanks for the help !

    Wheel Choices

Yep , those are sweet , I was thinking of something in that flavor for the street Jeep .

  20. Plans for a V8 swap are in the future for me as well , However I'm gearing myself up the amount of work it will take to fabricate almost everything it will need . The radiator and fan system will be some doing for sure , suspension will have to be modified to hold all the new weight , wiring harness and CPU will probably be real fun .... Gauges and meters will all be redone , Unibody frame rails reinforced with steel , motor mounts and brackets will have to be either fabricated or modified aftermarket . Lots of other little little things like intake box and other little clips and sensors on the newer motors . All in all its an amazing amount of work but I thinks it would be badd@zz ..... Its going to be easier for me because I plan on just using two wheel drive , I'm going to let all that power to the rear wheels and see what happens ...
  21. Sometimes it can be cheaper to find rolled XJ's for a couple hundred bucks , then you could have a few more parts for spare or sale . Just gotta find the right one ...
  22. AX-15 / NV3350 , Super low first still usable with 31"s and 410's . I love the low crawl speed . I don't know about cheap though , the AX-15 is kind of sought after in the Jeep community .
  23. Yeah, for the most part all the stickers bed and motor is all stock . I did find out it has an aluminum 4.0 HO radiator , buckets from an XJ , and steering from a chevy .. :dunno: Drivetrain is all stock with a turdy five . Stock slider and the console is from an XJ . It may have come with buckets because there hasn't been any modification to the bolts or floor brackets . I think its kinda cool but it was built in the half year of 90" so I guess it could have been some of the first Chrysler production trucks ... :dunno: It has old school sport truck stripes but Chrysler drivetrain , even though it looks like they changed the 2.5's design slightly from 91"-92" , I've been finding this out trying to replace the timing chain and tensioner in the 91" . So maybe its a half Renix half Chrysler .. :dunno: He's a mystery boat thats for sure .
  24. Thats cool , what gears does it have in it ? Is it two wheel or four wheel drive ?
  25. Alright ! He sailed the maiden voyage yesterday and all is well , there is a nock from the timing chain tensioner so this week I'll be putting in a new timing chain . Other than that the gear box is smooth , syncro's are all buttery and the suspension is sound . I thought it was going to be in worse shape for 500 bucks . The 2.5 with 410's really scoot with only two wheel drive and a much lighter truck than the 92" 4x4 . I felt the difference on the car dolly , the 92" bogged down the crappy ford really bad , I also felt the trailer yanking the truck around more than the 91" , its amazing how much weight I've thrown into the 92" .
