88 Commanche in STL I want to customize and lift.
DJM/78 replied to BPD's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Welcome !! I have a 2" rubicon express lift, I love the ride ,but you can only get up to 31 " tires to work even w/ mild rubbing on the inside fender. However I went to a 31x10" wheel . I just can't do any real off-roading, until I get a better kit . -
We'll call it : The REPUBLIC Of NEW MANCHE ; :rotf:

After!! I just bought my truck and was looking for a couple of guys that had posted pics on some bad-@$$ Mjs . Found the site. Member since. I don't think anyone can compile this much information, on trucks that really don't exist anymore!!

I have the same problem , when I bought my truck. The front dances around like, Speedy Gonzales on meth. I replaced the front track bar , that took allot of it out but, still there . I took it to the shop and my mech. said it was in the steering. I wonder if some energy suspension bushings will help, allot of my friends swear by them. Mostly because of the bump steer that we get on our nasty roads. I'm interested to see what you come up with.

I use several ultrasonic cleaners , and to tell you the truth , I use Mr. clean. Depending on what your cleaning I've found any degreaser with the proper amount of heat will take anything off. Most of the household cleaning products are eco friendly and fire resistant. I try to get my solutions almost boiling temp, the mild solutions don't oxidize the metal either. Its kind of like the old ,hot water , cold water salt dissolve test back in science class.

After putting allot of merchandise in my store , I wanted to be able to sleep at night . So I remembered some things I saw in the service. A LEXAN product that was developed for the military, that is more like window tint. It's applied clear and sets in a couple of days . You won't even know its on . The glass still breaks , but won't fold too easy. Its allot like windshield lamination. Check out some of your local window tint shops. I think there is a couple of products aval; LEXAN, 3M and one or two more . Take nothin away from it, this stuff is pretty tuff . You still have to replace the window , but all your stuff is safe and sound. And it really pisses off the jackass trying to get your

Alright , I had to post. Colorado is the place to be. We got all the hardcore trails , drive-thru liquor stores and all the guns you can buy. Rust doesn't exist here ,and sorry Cali , Boulder CO, is the new herb capital of the states. Leave the swag to the immigrants. :chillin:

:agree: I am a small business owner. These are some of most important issues that effect everyones pocket book every day. Our country has lost some of the basic core structures upon witch it was founded. However , I think that the focus on small business and the privatization of social infrastructure is some of the best ways to get and keep jobs in our own towns. We could probably all make a living . :agree: I'm going to try to find the part # I need those too!!!!

I was going to work on my valve cover gasket , but the weather decided to snow about three feet and and stayed about -8 for a week and a half. Next I was driving through downtown , when all of a sudden ,,,, my lightly worn front tires broke free on what seemed like a professional skating ring dusted w/ fresh powder and instantly zeroing in on the biggest curb it could find. Presto "!!! :wall: :wall: :wall: So !!! I had to pony up the cash and put a new set of BF AT's and wheels . Suspension is next on the list . Dave M.

:agree: My sport bikes barely run 9 sec 1/4 s with 160 @ at the wheel and weigh less than 380 lb dry. and their Honda's too . Best Honda makes . :smart:
-
:agree: It's all about power = weight ratio ( to the wheel ) forget horsepower and you have to add in wheel weight and resistance. I doubt he has the cheese for a direct-port injected nos kit , besides the stock honda motor wouldn't take it very long anyway.. Just get an avenger 4x4 supercharger and blow the bondo off his door skins . More bolt on power than that motor even produces stock !!!!! :chillin:

Yeah , I'm going to inspect the valve cover this weekend. I may have to deal with the leak for a while , because I'm just set on doing everything while I'm in there. Oil pump, fel-pro seal, fel -pro gasket , timing chain and water pump . I'll probably replace the bearings , serpentine belt and all the radiator and heater hoses as I read the thread on heater hose problems Great info , I didn't even think of ear plugs!!!!! thanx : Dave M.
-
Thats what I need , I want to do everything right the first time. I'm not that great as a mechanic ,don't want to do it all again. I learn as I go and now I'm like G.I Joe
-
Great info , I feel a lot better about the project !!!!! I like Fel-pro too :D I have used them in the past. :clapping: I'll replace the oil pump & the timing belt as well. As my truck just went over 200k Thanx Dave M.

Thanks !!! I plan on doing allot more restoration , It's always been a dream of mine to have one of these trucks , all brand new and badass like . It's also my daily winter driver . I just broke the 200,000. mark on the od and she still runs strong. My little gem. Hey if I ever get rid of some the stock parts I'll post them!!!!!

I need some advise on a R.M.S for a 92 4.0 5 sp 4x4 . The leak is at the flex plate and loses about a 1/2 quart every three weeks . I am replacing the seal , but what else should I do or look for while I'm in there ? :???:

Just thought I'd represent . : Dave M

I am a avid bike fan . Race bike fan fabricator and builder. I have a saying; Race bikes are like race horses, Their expensive to breed ,ridden hard ,and forgot about when the new one shows up next year . No matter the brand or company , thats the sad reality to all race bikes. Once the company quits racing the bike its not even profitable to the manufacture anymore and thus the dealership. I have several bikes but my fav. is a Honda 929 RR 2001 fireblade . Its a formula extreme bike and honda quit racing in that class that year and there went the bike and all the aftermarket. Just doesnt exist anymore. Its sad to see another American Icon find its way in the history books. :( don't worry I'm sure Harley has a couple cards op their sleeves. 'Dave
