  1. I have posted before , however I am starting a new thread on my truck . Last of the manches project is a tribute to all of the Mj's and what it means to have one of the last of these great trucks . This is my truck , I bought it bone stock in sept. 09. One drive around the block and I was hooked . Its a 2-92 build , all stock , w/ 200k on the ticker. It looks clean but needs work. I am kind of a perfectionist . So I am going to fix it up to the best of my abilities and keep it for a long time . These are some pics after the new wheels and I cleaned the door panels . All works are still in progress . Mostly with the help from you guys !! before my door cleaning and paint: After: For those who like pics: Tanks ahead of time for replies.
  2. Thanks guys ", that means allot coming from this group . I'm starting a build thread on my mj called : " LAST OF THE MANCHES " a tribute to a badass truck . I'll get more pics soon . I believe those spring shackles that cw and I were talking about are found through quite a few different manufactures . The ones I'm getting are from Rubicon Express , I think mine are adjustable . They have a couple of different holes to slide the bolts through . So I can get the ride height correct , and what cw was saying . Dave M.
  3. I don't , but the product brand was Gum-out , Carb & Choke cleaner . White can , red label , just like my prep spray . I believe GUM-OUT products are sold in all auto parts stores everywhere . I bet there are other carb. cleaners with the same chemicals. Spray it on and curse profanities , let sit for about , 5-10 sec. , and wipe clean . Repeat until desired blend of color match . Soak in w/ some kind of vinyl or plastic protectant . This only worked on my grey interior . I don't have the balls to try on anything else . :fool: Dave M.
  4. So this weekend , I was washing my door panels wile servicing my door hinges and made a big mistake. I had pulled some parts for paint and was using a paint prep spray, when I grabbed the wrong can sitting right next to the prep spray , clearly marked , " Gum out , carb & choke cleaner " , and sprayed the bottom of the door panel . Instantly realizing my mistake , I felled profanities whilst franticly looking for my rags . when I wiped the surface , I noticed a bleach - spot where the chemical stayed on the surface . However staining the surface. I decided to do the whole door panel to match. Wiped it all clean and then soaked them in Formula 2001 protectant. Took about 15 years of oil , grease and paint off . As bad as it sounds , It looks great !!! Before : After:
  5. I don't know , I was told its better to get a wider tire if I was going to lift it . It did help with the stability and ride quality . I like how it looks too . :brows:
  6. I believe they are 4" offset , they told me that is the normal size for that truck. However I went to a 10" wheel . Even with the lift there is slight rub right in the center at the bump , on the inside of the fender . Also my trucks old suspension is sagging .
  7. Hundred mile an hour tape, 5-50 cord , blue mag light and a beat - stick. Oh", and extra lighters!!! :chillin:
  8. Cool thanks for the help I'm on it !!!! Dave M.
  9. What years of WJ LCA's should I look for ?? I would pay more for nice ones!!! Dave M.
  10. Thanks !! I didn't know exactly what to do about that . I trimmed the inside a small amount and helped. The reason I am replacing the springs is my truck settles a little to the passenger side . I am hoping the newer springs and new bushings will help prop it back up. I did use the 4" Offset wheels this time instead of the 2" . I'll try the WJ LCV's as well !! :chillin:
  11. Help !! I have a 92" 4x4 4.0 HO , I already have a R.E . 2" lift kit. ( pucks & shocks ) With the extra leaf in the rear , it sits good but, with the new 31"x10" wheels , I am still getting all kinds of inner fender rub. I want to put the ZJ v8 front springs and the rubicon 1" leaf extension brackets on top of the lift I have now. Will that put me close to an extra 1"- 1.5" . I just need a little more room for my turning radius . Or am I :dunce: Dave M.

Personal weapon of choice , Springfield XD . .40 Combat Arms . Issue model . ( no safety ) I've seen 380's and 9 mil's go right through people without any resistance . They keep running and might eventually bleed out, but never the less you have to shoot them again. If your going to carry, there is no point in using a weapon that you might have to shoot the S.O.B more than seven times, they might just have time to shoot you back!! No offense , the 380's and 9 mil's are perfect for accuracy , round cap. and ease of carry . However , I prefer the .40 , .357 , 10 mil. and .44 , for overall peace of mind. The newer models have faster fire rate , more round cap. and are far more accurate than the older models. Dave M. U.S ARMY AIRBORNE INF. Ft. campbell Ky. Ft. Benning Ga.
  13. Wow ,looks fun!! I bet your truck gets good traction with all that weight. Dave M.
  14. Them old men must have caught the Mj bug way before us !!!! Must know something we don't. Can't they at least , find a camper shell that matches the truck. You know , they sell spray paint now-days. :rotf:
  15. Hey CW., don't know if this will help , but there is a shop here in the Springs that makes all kinds of armor. I don't have a link but, its ARMOROLOGY.com . You may have seen them but, they have allot of great ideas. Everything they make is way BEEFY.

EEEEFFFFFFF that !!! You better have one badass MJ , all that money their paying to be in those conditions. As you know it gets bad here in Colo. , but never stays long . Living on the great divide , it comes as fast as it goes. 8) Dave M.
  18. O.K . Ever since I got my truck , I find myself always looking for other MJ's . Up until now , I would almost never see one on my day to day driving. Today on my lunch break , In all of about 10min. , I saw three almost perfect swb ,4x4 4.0 MJ's , all driving down the road . All stock and cherry looking too !!! I'm thinking to myself , " W.T.F . " Am I the only one strechin' my neck , trying to get a good look or what . Just wanting to know if this has happened to anyone else . Or am I just
  19. 40 lbs. !!! Hell", all you need is an illegal immigrant . Just make sure the parts don't fit his truck and you just might get them!! :rotf:
  20. Mine was coming in through the door seal some how . The rear window slides, at the rubber, leak as well. Check side window seals as well , I found my leak when I was power washing the side of my truck . Water is a good way to find air gaps.
  21. You can also use the upper stock bolt on the hump side, If your using the newer seats and just drill the three other holes. Weld plates to the bottom and drill through them. Also , the newer brackets are taller, you still have to modify the brackets or the floor . Either way it takes time to get right . I can still take mine in and out easy enough.

They can pry it from my cold dead fingers!!!! Dave .M
  23. I think you have to use the newer brackets from the xj. I used the 95 brakets but they still don't exactly fit. You'll still have to do some type of modification. do you have pics??? There are a couple of threads that guys have done around here. Dave M.
  24. Sorry guys , been mostly a beefy chevy fan all my life. Fell into motorcycles and muscle cars at a young age and has been in my blood ever since. This winter I was looking for a truck that would be capable and reliable . Thats when I saw a craigs list posting on a rare 92' jeep pickup. I said huh' I don't think I've seen to many of those around. All it took was a test drive and I've been hooked ever since. :chillin:
  25. Hell , I'd love to have ya'll come on down . ( Might have to bribe wife). Pete's right though, If your trying to run a marathon, best to head strait to the hospital and get your head examed.
