  1. 98 XJs had it under the rear end on the driver's side. That's the setup I used for my 97+ swap, Id imagine you could make that system work on your 88 with some modifications.
  2. Of you or the truck?
  3. So the next truck I look at buying, I'm bringing Minuit with.
  4. This^^^ Pulled the plug out of the 12ga tube and have all AR/handgun mags loaded and ready to go. Very slim chance of getting hit where I'm at but ready to go, I won't be caught with my pants down.
  5. The National Guard just rolled into Ankeny, IA and staged at Walmart. It's a transport and refueling convoy but it looks like they will be staying the night there. All the businesses around here closed at 5 so they could board up and get prepared. All I needed was some damn PB Blaster and grease, but nope! Damn rioters.
  6. Holy crap, at $750 it better come with the rest of the truck too!
  7. $250-$300 depending on condition here in Iowa (slim pickings around here). The similar strength C8.25 is my preferred upgrade because they are easy to find. I paid $100 for a 98XJ C8.25 and $200 for a 03 Libby C8.25 (disk brakes). The upside of going the D44 from an MJ route is that you don't have to relocate the perches. The extra $50-$100 is worth it to me, not having to mess with the perches. However if you will be lifting the truck, the perches may need shimmed or otherwise tilted for driveline angle so the extra cost may not be worth it at that point.
  8. Last night turned deadly in Davenport. One officer in the hospital and two people dead. No word yet on who was killed but the officer is said to have non-life threatening injuries.
  9. Thanks Pete!! Whoelse looked at every single picture again? This is the first time I noticed the axle end of the trackbar has the hole relocated for the lift, a little surprised they took that approach given they put in the effort to change the lower control arm brackets.
  10. People are idiots. There was a bunch of rioting here this weekend and even a fire started at the courthouse that luckily was put out real quick. It's gonna be a rude awakening when the rioters in Iowa realize we have the stand your ground law, meaning we can defend ourselves with firearms. Minnesota doesn't have that luxury.
  11. Yeah I'm fairly certain he recently obtained a street Comanche as well. I talked briefly with the owner of that truck during the sale to him.
  12. Big event in history right there. Marks the beginning of commercial space travel!
  13. Haha yes! Aka the avoid these years unless you like chasing you tail eras.
  14. To simplify what everyone is saying, these trucks share 99% of the parts of an XJ from the A-Pillar/dashboard forward assuming the same year XJ and MJ. There are some changes year to year but they are small so most everything will still work in different years but it's good to ask about some specific parts like electronics or brake parts. The big year shifts to pay attention to are the Renix era (87-90), the HO era (91-96), and the OBDII era (97+). The MJ ended production in 92 so the later part of HO and OBDII usually doesn't apply unless you swap parts from them. If there are specific parts you want to know about, we can give some more details on if they will work or not.
  15. Next attempt is Saturday afternoon at 3:22 Eastern time with a follow-up window on Sunday at 3:00 eastern time. However it sounds like the weather isn't going to be great then either, last I read there is about a 40% chance of being able to launch. It's annoying but this time of year is tough to launch in because they need good enough weather basically along the entire coast. Fingers crossed it goes airborne Saturday.
  16. I like the idea but will echo what is said above about vastly different pricing by area. A $500 truck in California would be a $2,000 truck in Iowa. Big reason is rust. Rust means the cheaper trucks are rusted out and the non-rusty come at a premium. Even bigger premium if they have some work done to them. This means a $5,000 California truck may sell for $10,000 here. MJs just don't exist around here anymore either so they are incredibly hard to find, which also affects price. Maybe you could set pricing categories based on in or out of the rust belt to be as simple as possible but I think it's way to big of a variable to leave out entirely.
  17. I hope those corners are free or dang close to it. Pretty rusty to be using as patches.
  18. The steering stabilizer reduces bump steer. For normal driving conditions I would consider removing it but this truck is being built to race with so bump steer could be a major problem. I believe there may be a requirement for one in some classes as well, have to check the rules on that.
  19. Launch is scrubbed. Next attempt will be Saturday I believe.
  20. Still red for the weather but they are loading propellant now. They can still abort all the way up to launch if the weather doesn't clear. They won't take any chances, sounds like the weather is continuing in the right direction.
  21. Yeah I've been seeing the same. I will probably be going with a custom trackbar as well but I've been having issue with figuring out where to go with the steering stabilizer without fabricating a crazy mount or making it too close to the ground.
  22. I would love to see a launch, you guys are lucky who live down that way. Shuttle was my favorite vehicle we've had so far and unfortunately I also will never get to see one launch although there are plenty of videos to give a little taste. I did get to see a shuttle somewhere when I was really young but can't remember where it was, need to go see Discovery now that I can actually appreciate it.
  23. Anyone plan on watching the launch today? First time astronauts have been launched from US soil since the Space Shuttle retired in 2011. Also the first time a privately owned company puts astronauts in space. Coverage starts at noon, launch at 4:33 Eastern time. https://www.nasa.gov/nasalive
  24. You can take a sticker off, someone is a lot less likely to remove a dealers badge if it's actually mounted to the truck. It would be pure evil but I could see a dealer going that far for a little advertising.
  25. As fiatslug87 said, the factory emblems were held on with double sided tape so there were no holes. Is it the original tailgate to the truck as far as you know? Dealer tag of some kind would be my guess, can't believe they would put holes in it though. Maybe a PO did it?
