  1. Got most everything buttoned up after the wiring harness replacement. No visors so I had a tint strip installed on the windshield. Need to install the clamshell around the ignition switch and decide what I'm gonna do for mounting the blower and wiper switches. I've got some carpeting to finish off the area around the shifter/hump to cover where the factory console used to be.
  2. "New" harness getting installed.
  3. Finished it off yesterday afternoon and went for a drive. All systems "GO".
  4. Yep^^^^. Nothing else other than a ton of horsepower is gonna help you. The measly 6 or 8 horsepower difference in an HO versus Renix is like peeing in the ocean and expecting the level to rise.
  5. Did you do Tip 5? That checks the ground circuit for multiple sensors.
  6. TEST the CPS. Most replacements are JUNK. http://cruiser54.com/?p=50
  7. The HO isn't gonna help. What gears are you running? What kind of shape is your Renix engine in?
  8. Go to a junkyard and get a pair of the ones that don't open.
  9. Well, the harness is out of the donor car. I think I'm done removing all the circuits/wiring that I won't need. Hopefully, today I can start verifying everything with the diagram and prep for the removal of the stinky, crispy wiring from Old Red. The pic with my foot in it is what I've REMOVED from the original harness. The jumble of wiring with tape and felt marker descriptions is the harness I'll be using. --
  10. 53005084. Amazon or Crown.
  11. Well, huge bump in the road. Yesterday morning I plugged the 2 plugs from the donor cars console into mine thinking I may use it. The harness smoked from the passenger side dash real fast and damaged wires all the way to just above the steering column. so, this is the donor car and how far I had to disassemble it to get what I need for the harness. Almost..... Still on the fence though. Thinking of rewiring it with a proper fuseblock and tidying everything up.
  12. They'll all work 87 to 90. 89 and 90 give a little more power. You can use one from an automatic also.
  13. Last November and he/she has only posted once............
  14. This is my second one. First was full resto. Never again!! Did this yesterday. Booster. Pretty easy. All done but the road test. It was below 40*F when I finished. No top....... I've been driving it with the vacuum to the booster plugged. Wasn't that bad. I can't wait to drive it today.
  15. New brake booster. My old one was full of skanky old fluid from a previously failed master cylinder. Used my Hobo Freight brake bleeding tool and bled the brake and clutch systems twice. Haven't had a chance to test drive it since it's 47* and very windy. I'll do that tomorrow. I've been driving without any boost and it's not that bad.
  16. Just an FYI. The most current Tips are now on a website. www.cruiser54.com
  17. Yep. Been down the same road. The MJ prop valve has smaller orifices to the front brakes than the XJ. Smaller than the I.D. of the brake lines themselves. Huge difference eliminating the LSV, T the front lines and adjustable prop valve to the rear.
  18. And before aliens from Mars take over our load sensing valves, poison us, and chew through our metal brake lines. It's a conspiracy, I tell ya!!!!! Not only should we put on our tin foil hats, we should wrap our brake valves in tin foil also. Let's stop this insanity!!!!!!!!
  19. I'm just glad you got it fixed!! It could have been a combination of all those things you did. some folks want a silver bullet cure handed to them....... I commend your diligence in taking the bull by the horns and doing something rather than pissing and moaning expecting someone to provide the silver bullet.
  20. Put it on the lift Saturday and changed the trans and diff fluids. The Alfas have great transmissions, but don't like to be shifted fast. I used BG UltraGuard 75W90 in the trans and took a quick road test. Immediately noticed an improvement in shifting. Quick road test because it started raining and I have no top!!!!
  21. Dialed in some positive caster the other day. Way better straightline stability and quick turn in for the twisties. I could get in trouble with this thing. Have a rollbar on the way.
  22. The stat from the dealer has no aftermarket equal.
  23. The Limeys were kludgy compared to the Italians.
  24. Just cycle the key a few times and go for it.
  25. You beat me to it.............
