  1. anything else i can use from the ZJ besides the engine? or are these just turds with wheels?
  2. really? oh well at least i got a good 4.0 to play with... and some good tires...
  3. is the 42RE better, worse or similar to the AW4? the reason is there`s a grand cherokee (ZJ) i can get for cheap, it also has a 4.0 HO and runs pretty well, the interior is in very bad shape but the rest is good, if i were to get it i plan to have it as a donor for the MJ, engine tranny and whatever fits any site i can find more data on this tranny?
  4. the one in the back of the head is fine, the coolant comes from inside the clutch housing.... the hissing was right before i heard something poping off, then the coolant came out... open cooling...
  5. Yesterday, rigth after coming back from work, after shutting off the truck i noticed a hissing sound coming from the bottom, as i was trying to see what was it, boom! a bang a lots of coolant pouring right between the engine and the clutch housing... which only means one thing... i don`t have enough free time to drop the tranny and fix it,at leats not soon so it`s gonna sit there until then... my poor MJ, you are broken but don`t worry i`ll put you back together...
  6. it`s pretty obvious whats wrong with it, hope the damage is fixable...
  7. Which solenoid is that? either the B+ latch or the Fuel Pump wasn`t closing properly, to be sure changed both, it`s working so far...
  8. never mind, guess what was it? a solenoid... :fs1:
  9. can not unplug it anymore, since the last one did not have a conector anymore, i cut the wires and soldered them there`s no C101 on my MJ havent done that... the thing is, the truck when it starts it works flawlessly, no random stall or revving up ord down or anything else related to a failing CPS, the problem is to get it to start, sometimes i turn it off and then try to start it again and boom nothing..
  10. so this thing may be $#!&ting on me too, i already changed the CPS sensor (PITA btw) and now starts almost instantly...when it feels like it today it did again, i was driving to the store, stopped to get a few things and boom! i had to crank it for like 10 seconds to get it to start...
  11. idle stepper motor?
  12. been looking for it in the web, anyone has it?
  13. why do you want the 86 guts on the 91?
  14. :hmm: You don't put in new oil after you drain out the old? Dammit I knew there was a reason I was going through engines every couple miles hahahahaha who needs oil anyway...
  15. i changed the oil six months ago and now is black and muddy again, time for an oil change... last time i drained the oil pan with the truck sitting horizontally and i felt that some oil was left, and even sludge, if i lift the front tires do you think it will drain better?
  16. too much of a mess... good they got rid of it...
  17. the 302 blocks with the stamp of "hecho en mexico" are known to be tougher
  18. now that i`m wrestling with my CPS i realized that heat damages it over time, with all the proper places to put it, Jeep had to chose place it right next to the exhaust pipe,a source of intense heat well done Jeep! any similar comment from you guys?
  19. today the CPS gave me the middle finger again, started right up in the morning (cold) drove to work, and a few minutes later it won`t start again (hot this time) so kicked it and went to work. after my shift (nigthtime) starts right up again... whata piece of ... at least i was able to get back home... from what i read, this intermitent "no start when hot" syntom says the CPS it`s dying, i had replaced the cooked wires but the sensor itself is done too so it must be replaced... but why is so difficult to reach from above? the cherokee i was going to trade for my mercury sable had a lot fo space, i was able to reach the CPS sensor easily, on my MJ i can barely tocuh it from below, or XJs have a larger notch?
  20. what if chrysler went cheap with the 4.0 after buying jeep and later the extra webbing was made to compensate the weaker blocks?
  21. are you sure the camshaft was installed correctly? backfiring means the intake is still open when the spark ignites the fuel... or the CPS is sendign the wrong signal...
  22. cut a little of the floor? what could happen...
  23. if while cranking you feel no detonation is taking place and a weird smell of gasoline comes out the exhaust check the CPS... if there`s a faint detonation but the engine can`t turn on then the fuel system is not pumping enough gasoline to it, or is pumping too much...
  24. yes, it`s a 90 XJ with renix, i saw it myself...
