  1. whatever, disconnected the TPS... starts right over now... excuse me i`m going to hang myself...
  2. ok i get that also there`s a crank signal coming from the relay to tell the ECU the engine is being started, if this wire is not connected, it means the ECU will stay in "key ON mode" and thus not start? damn it a HEI won`t be that picky...
  3. i was reading the modes of operation of the Renix ecu and that during the "crank mode" if wide open throttle is detected the inyectors would shutdown, to clear any flooding.... btu what about the ignition? does the spark is shutdown too?
  4. stroke it and turbocharge it? otherwise you can have 100+ HPs out of nowhere...
  5. it a bolt on piece but AFAIK you need to drill holes in older blocks to put it...
  6. mixed parts = renix block (89 or earlier) with HO head (90 and later) and the crankshaft girdle from a 96+ whole engine = 96-99 OH of course
  7. ? from what i understand: you are buying a 1990 MJ with the 4.0 and auto tranny, when it reaches 55 mph downshifts from OD to D?
  8. bringing this thread back from the grave guess what? i came across a crashed 93 XJ with the AW intact (except for the TCU) so i for sale cheap, since my recently acquired 95 ZJ has the bad rep 42RE i`m considering a swap when the 42RE dies. the ecu is not a problem i plan to make a shifter for it and both engines are HOs so the swap must be staright forward, both a 2WD must question is about the crossmember and trans mounts, which ones will bolt up? 1995 ZJ HO engine 1993 XJ AW4 ? trans mount ? ? crossmember ? or is there some major mod i must do?
  9. too difficult to fix considering it`s basicly a magnet with a coil around it, rocket science
  10. the injector itself is releasing smoke? must be shorted, change it ASAP before you blow up
  11. idle stepper motor? the only air the engine gets when idling is throught this port...
  12. anyone have installed some sort of amplifier circuit on the CPS? weak signal seems to be a common problem even with brand new units...
  13. my manual renix has the 4 pin plug TPS for the auto tranny, and it was a manual from factory... maybe on some trucks they used whatever harness they had at hand...
  14. if it starts it`s not the fywheel, leave it alone drievability problems usually track to a bad MAP sensor... Or a vacuum leak, even a small leak can make the engine miss and backfire
  15. remeber the ZJ i got cheap? the steering column and is bad shape and i`m lookign for a replacement, it`s an auto (the so hated 42RE) so i`m going for a column shifter of course, i have seen dakotas with colum shifters and they look suspiciosly similar but are they swappable? there are a couple in the junkyard i can make into a working one after a close inspection to this truck... it`s in overall good shape, engine is good, transmission works as it should, virtually no rust... i`m starting to like it...
  16. damn the clutch fluid on my MJ is dark, gotta fix that asap...
  17. Harnesses had wires for both manual and auto trannies, also all conectors for accesories even if the truck doesn`t has them, you always find one or two hanging around...
  18. i was wondering if i could cut the old fuse links in the MJ and put regular fuses in their place, if so, how many amps? the web says red/brown fue links = 30 amps, is that correct? i have a feeling that those are also $#!&ting on me...
  19. grinding means the clutch is not disengaging...
  20. if it doesn`t leak, it`s not a Jeep
  21. luck, came with it... some PO must have swappedit thought...
  22. has rear disk brakes but is a Dana 35, not swapping my 44 for it just for the brakes, unless the 44 breaks somehow it`s a 2wd so no front axle... again only if my current one breaks...
