Instrument cluster ground
Ωhm replied to Vineyard86manch's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Instrument Cluster (IC) has two (2) grounding points. C102 & C103. C102 pigtails out near the bottom of the steering column. C103 is under the hood on the middle left side of fender. If grounds are good, check C203 where it connects to the IC, could be loose. -
That's a great statement. Spending available voltage to force current through a connector/wire that's designed to pass current will generate heat. Thanks to all for your responses.
-
Question is, does a unwanted (between M/F terminals) voltage drop generate excessive heat or not?
-
Take a circuit with one (1) inline connector. That inline connector is designed to pass current unimpeded. If resistance increases between the contacts of the inline, voltage dropping will force current to flow. The resistance on the contact will start to act like "toaster wire". This inline was not designed to drop voltage. Ohm's Law, only apply to circuits, with components designed to handle the wattage. Keep in mind, this is how I justify to myself, how a voltage drop works on a connector designed to only pass current. So what I'm trying to say is "I don't know". Time for CC forum members to chime in.

For your reading enjoyment. Modes of Operations start on pg76. Jeep FI Manual For real time data, checkout Renix Engine Moniitor (REM). R.E.M. I'll take it that the ECT sensor didn't help your HOT START issues.

Generally speaking, O2S heater circuit goes OPEN. Good find on the IAT. Check ECT, also a known problem for hot starting issues.

Does your Heater/AC panel lamp work? Can you dim it? Do you have a factory Radio, if so, does your Radio Display Backlighting lamps work? Can you dim them? Do you have a Automatic Transmission, if so, does your PRNDL lamp work? Can you dim it?

Noticed lots of utility vehicle convoys heading north or west. In VA now (I-77 & US58) for the night. JD, got out voted on which route to take. Majority said follow the vehicles on-board computer. So far, so good. Beautiful part of the country.

Dorian put the hurt on a lot of good people down there. Your route makes sense.

Google Maps kick us off I-75 at Findlay or Dayton OH to head South-East. Knoxville KY, as suggested, might be the way to go.

Google Maps show me Interstate Highways with traffic lights and stop sign. Hence my question on I72, I73 & I74. Interstates seems to be connected by US roads. Hope they got good signage to follow.

UPDATE: I just got off the phone with the DoubleTree Hotel and a couple of things. 1 – They have lost power, but were told to expect it to be back on by noon today 2 – Since they have no power, the phones do not work. When power is restored, they will be back on 3 – There is debris on the parking lot and property, but that is being cleared right now. 4 – They are de-sandbagging now 5 – They have to go room by room and take the beds off the risers they had put them on so that in case of water in the rooms, it would not damage them. They also change all the linens in every room and that process started at 9am this morning. 6 – The meeting rooms served as a storage space for all their equipment they had to place inside, so they are in the process of emptying them out and will be completed this weekend at the latest So……bottom line is, we are GOOD TO GO. Those who are arriving tomorrow morning may have to wait until tomorrow afternoon to be placed in their rooms, it depends if they have competed the room to room cleanup and after inspection of those rooms. I have told them to have 2 bartenders at noon and plenty of Miller Lite. They asked me to apologize to those who were coming in early for this “hiccup” and look forward to seeing all of us next week Appreciate your patience and again, I will keep everyone up to date if there are any updates or if anything changes. If you have any questions, please feel free to email me. On behalf of the 100th Promenade Nationale Corporation

Leaving in the morning (Sat) from MI to Myrtle Beach SC for a veterans convention. I think Dorian missed or just missed. Any updates would be helpful? Also is I72, I73 & I74 mostly all the same interstate highway? Tough time reading SC roadmap.

A/C Clutch Relay engages the A/C Compressor, this relay is controlled by the ECU with information from HVAC Controller. B+ from C236_A (connector for circle in picture) , thru A/C Low Pressure Switch, thru A/C Clutch Relay (87 (4)) to A/C compressor.

Starter relay blown fusible link
Ωhm replied to Cheapamanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Wish we could have put a handle on your electrical problems better than what we did. Check C102 (Engine Harness to Front Lighting Harness). This connector is a known problem. -

No pics necessary if connectors look clean, no popped out wires touching other wires or strange growth on the terminals. -

The ECU (KEY ON) controls the Fuel Pump Relay and NO, I don't think the short is before the relay. Need visual inspections of the following: Disconnect Bulkhead C100 (Engine Harness to Instrument Panel Harness). Backside of Fuse Panel. Both ECU connectors. Was this vehicle ever driven underwater? -

Remove Fuel Pump Relay. Determine if fuel pump still primes. -
Starter relay blown fusible link
Ωhm replied to Cheapamanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Let's define "primes my fuel pump". Too me, that means fuel pump ON for 2-3 seconds, then OFF. This primes the fuel rail with pressure. Is that what your seeing or is fuel pump just ON? -

With PARK fuse installed, Headlights ON, does turning the DIM knob, control the fuel pump motor? -

Remove HD LP DLY fuse. Does fuel pump run when headlights are ON? Does engine START, RUN and shut OFF?
