  1. The fairlead looks to low for it to be the factory setup. It used a special 6000-lb Ramsey winch that was a little different so it could be oriented the right way to fit. Here is the install directions: http://www.ramseypdfs.com/owners_sea...s/295153-D.pdf Parts list from my FSM (Ver. 8J, Figure 13-1000) Item/Item#/quantity/description 1 8350 1124 1 EXTENSION, Rail 2 8350 1125 1 EXTENSION, Rail 3 8350 1126 4 BRACKET, Angle 4 8350 1127 2 BRACKET, Angle 5 8350 1128 1 RETAINER, Rail (Not Serv.) 6 8350 1129 1 BRACKET, Winch Mounting 7 8350 1130 1 SHIELD, Bumper 8 8350 1131 1 SHIELD, Bumper 9 8350 1132 1 STRAP, Inner 10 8350 1133 1 STRAP, Inner 11 8350 1134 1 STRAP, Outer 12 8350 1135 1 STRAP, Outer 13 8350 1149 6 BOLT *** 14 BOLT S012 1887 4 (1987-89) 14 BOLT J018 0020 4 (1990) 15 J018 0079 10 BOLT *** 16 J999 8112 2 BOLT, (Not Serv.) 17 8350 1150 6 SCREW 18 J012 0361 6 NUT 19 J012 0375 10 NUT 20 J012 0376 6 NUT 21 S012 0378 2 NUT 22 S012 0217 6 WASHER, Lock 23 J012 0380 10 WASHER, Lock 24 J012 0392 2 WASHER, Plain 25 J012 0214 6 WASHER, Lock 26 J012 0393 2 WASHER, Plain 27 S012 0384 2 WASHER, Lock 28 8350 1136 4 NUT, U-Type 29 8350 2247 1 GUIDE, Solid Cable And no, they are no longer available from Ramsey or directly from Jeep....
  2. 2 of the dimensions on that one are wrong. The updated one is found here: http://www.greatlakesxj.com/tech/bumper_mount.pdf
  3. My wife is the manager of an Old Navy store and knows nothing about it either...
  4. Illegal wheeling is a big no-no....
  5. Something on the front looks "odd". Looks good though! EDIT: It's the white grill with the black header panel trim.
  6. Actually it is a switch and will work without issues; several (including myself) have done it without issues. The key is to use the wires as I stated above. They can be found in a ribbed protector running down the left hand inner fender. Out of this ribbed wiring sleeve will be a connector with a yellow and black wire. Also TurboCity sells a GM thermo switch that will fit the housing as well. It only has 1 wire coming out of it, so you'll have to use a relay for it to do it's job correctly. This option is popular if you want to put your fan on a switch as well, as you can simply run 2 lead wires to the "switched" side of the relay.
  7. The polarity of the wires does not matter as this acts just like a like switch, you are supplying power to the switch, when it gets hot it simply closes the switch sending power (12v) back to the circuit and viola the fan comes on. Just for reference, the yellow wire from the wiring harness is the hot wire and the black wire is the ground.
  8. PSHH! I pulled that Wrangler up that hill just fine! -Lead_"has no rear bumper or hitch to get cought up on while wheeling"_Follow
  9. If you ever wheel, they are a good thing to have... -Lead_"hate it when I have to pull someone out who does not have tow hooks"_Follow

  11. Are they RE drop brackets or TrailMaster drop brackets? The TM's won't work on the MJ as the holes do not line up correctly....
  12. Right Click, view image and it works...
  13. I'll probably be there depend on when it happens. Baby comes end of April, so we won't be wheeling very often for a few months after....
  14. Throttle Position Sensor. Located on the throttle body. See above link on how to test it.
  15. Check your TPS! http://www.greatlakesxj.com/tech/TPS.html
  16. WOW, SOA with a 3 or 4" lifted spring!!! Thats tall!!! Care to give a measurement from the ground, straight up thru the center of the hub to the top if the bed? ;) What springs do you have, 3 or 4" of lift? He went back to stock packs and did the SOA....
  17. CW, I'm just curious as to why your do not like the 3-link setup? An added benefit with the 3 link over any other setup is that it, unlike most LA setups, is it maintains caster angle through the full range of travel.
  18. doesn't Bob run the drop brackets? Yes he does and everytime I've talked with him about them he seems to love them (for what it's worth).
  19. Just a FYI, as I'm not sure it was stated in this topic yet. The braces for the RE drop brackets will NOT fit on the MJ. That is the reasoning that nobody runs them on the MJ's, as they simply do not fit.
  20. I'd love to meet you and FINALLY get to wheel with ya. I'll believe it when you show up. :fool: ;)
  21. Rock magnets, is what they are. The '88 MJ had them on when I bought it. I wheeled it for a couple of years with the brackets, a 4" lift, and 31s. Then I took off the lift, removed the brackets, and running 30s I can go anywhere I could go before -- with less scraping up front. They are for street trucks that want to run big tires. I somewhat disagree with that statement. Drop brackets should be used at 5" or higher. And I'm going to assume anyone who's running 5" of lift will be on 33's, if not 35's. Yes running 31's with drop brackets they will be a rock magnet, but if you run them with larger tires your not going to have as much issues. Running them with 31's your just asking to have them hit on things. Every time the topic of drop brackets comes up we have a pissing match over them. Go with longarms, you'll thank yourself later that you did. Also RK just recently re-designed their kit to th the new x-factor (3rd gen) so make sure your getting quotes on the new kit, not the 2nd gen kit.

  24. I wouldn't trust those 4 bolts that the factory crossmember uses to hold the front suspension on. You at least need to weld it (I'm assuming you had that in your plans). A photo of the clayton's kit welded up. I still think for all the work that they have in their design that the mounting points are some of the worst on the market. I know they have a good rep, and their arms are bomb proff, but you'd think they would of designed the mounting system a little better. Just my $0.02 worth though....
