Oil Pressure and Engine Options?
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to GirsMJ86's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
How are you verifying your PSI? The 4.0L is known to have faulty sending units to the gauge. To check the gauge turn ignition on (do not start) and needle should go to zero. Unplug at oil pressure sending unit and gauge should go off scale to the right if the gauge is working. Most likely it is the sending unit. However your numbers do not sound bad. If you "punch" it and it goes up thats normal. -

1990 AW4 spline count
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to JeepcoMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The year was '90. Early '90 had a 21 spline, late '90 had a 23 spline. So saying a '90 is 21 spline is not always true. For instance our '90 has a 23 spline. "Lead_"I've been through 4 AW4's in my XJ"_Follow -

Those are the rails on my XJ. Let me know if you want/need any other pics of them.

I don't think Wade will be cutting his rockers out anytime soon... That being said, I think he's going to build something more "bolt on". I'd use at least 3/16" thick tube. Also make sure you make a bracket to attach to the pinch seam to help spread the load if you do come down on them hard. Nothing is worse than having a set of rock rails and coming down on them and having it tear up your rockers more since you have them.

http://formattfab.com/product_tube_door.htm info@formattfab.com Rumor has it though that Matt stopped making them. You'd have to email him directly and ask. Also just a FYI, any XJ 4 door front tube doors will fit an MJ.

I have no personal experience but rumor has it that the mile marker kits like to fail. Like I said, no personal experience but I've seen pics of them in the past totally trashed. If your going to spend the $$, go with Warn as they are tested with good results.

The XJ and the MJ are 95% identical from the cab forward. What is designed for the XJ is designed for the MJ as long as it's the cab forward. -

I ran the Pro Crap MT's a few years back. I think they've probably changed the design a bit since I purchased my set. Tire wear was ok, not the best. They were loud on the road. Offroad they performed ok as long as you didn't get them wet. Wasn't a bad purchase, but probably wouldn't buy another set if I had to. However that looks like a killer deal, hard to pass it up... -Lead_"Anyone who knows me knows I'm anal about tire performance"_Follow

I just cut the rear lower's off. If I didn't they'd be smashed up from wheeling. A few pics: -

Turbocharged 4.0L?
LEAD_NOT_FOLLOW replied to jtdesigns's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It won't fit under the hood on the XJ or MJ. I have the KB setup on my Golen 4.6L stroker in my XJ. I had to have a custom set of motor mounts made to lower my motor 1.25", do an adapter plate for my intake manifold to lower it .5" and than have a custom pulley made to get the rest of the clearance with the hood. If you factor in the blower, I have around $6K in the project, not including the cost of the engine management. Took me 2 years and it's finally on as of about 3 weeks ago. Search Jeepforum, I have a lot of pics and info of my project.
