  1. My $0.02 worth on TBS'... The idea behind a TBS is to swirl the air thereby somehow making a more dense charge in the combustion chamber. I do know, that if you make a more dense air charge in the combustion chamber, you will have more oxygen in the chamber, therefore making a bigger boom (= more power). What I do not know is, how swirling air can make it more dense as they advertise... If the fuel is injected at the lower intake near the cylinder head, what exactly is the TBS combining with air in order to make this "super atomizing mixture"? If it is beneficial to "spiral" the air at the throttle body; than how is that "spiral" maintained once the air hits intake manifold and has to be distributed (we're not running multi-throttle bodies are we?)? If air velocity is good (as in forced induction through supercharger) like has been proven in 1800BC; than how can reducing air velocity be good? I personally think that the spacer would have to be about 20 inches long in order to have a swirling effect on the entering air. I think it could possibly produce a "tumbling" effect caused by the low pressure area on the backside of each machined "swirl". But once again; how is this good? Why do we polish intake manifolds and heads to get it as smooth as possible to increase flow? And a raised "swirl" is doing what? Does it work? Not from my dyno experience. Ok MAYBE on a highly modded engine, but not on your stock 4.0L. They look like they might make good cupholders though, for what its worth. Expensive; but the helix core design would probably keep the cup from falling out easily. Maybe they should add that to their advertising campaigns... If your looking for gains, the best option is to do a bored throttle body. Next would be to upgrade to a 99-01 intake manifold.
  2. Actually the info falls under Public Domain. The underlying idea that is expressed or manifested in the creation of a work generally cannot be the subject of copyright law. Collections of data are generally not copyrightable. If information is not copyrighted prior to release to the public it immediately becomes public domain. But lets say it was copyrighted (which is done threw the US copyright office and cost $$ to acquire). All copyrights have always had a finite term, though the terms for copyrights and patents differ. When terms expire, the work or invention is released into public domain. Under public domain information can be reproduced but can not be sold for a profit. If you sell the information for a profit you are bound by other legal terms to the original creator. In reference to the injector page on GLXJ, actually Dino is noted in the page source. Even though the page is 120% legal I will have it changed to please you yahoo's and give credit to Dino publicly. Even though Dino didn't "create" anything... As far as the FSM, they actually are no longer in valid copyright (it expired) and as stated above, once the copyright expires it falls into Public Domain. On that note, I'd be glad to pull the tech page on GLXJ. But with over 100,000 hits a month to that page directly and it being 120% legal with ALL the info provided on it I'd really hate to take away such a good tool to fellow Jeepers across the world. But I'm sure you all knew this before you accused me of everything...
  3. More info w/part numbers can be found here: http://www.greatlakesxj.com/tech/injectors.html
  4. I've broke 2 of TW's d-shafts. And no not at the joints. 2nd one was "maybe" my fault as the yoke on the axle broke and the shaft was spinning under the Jeep connected to the TC for about 2 mins. After the 2nd one I said I was done with them and went with a JE Reel shaft. Haven't looked back since.
  5. I've drove with just a front shaft because I "had to" to get home from wheeling. Would I do it if I didn't have to? NOPE! Will you be ok? Probably. With the SYE you at least won't worry about leaking any fluid out the rear output. One recommendation though... don't drive with just a front shaft in the pea-gravel at the Badlands to take a "short cut" back to camp. YOU WILL GET STUCK!
  6. We have Mellow Yellow here. Served in most restaurants and easily found in grocery stores...
  7. I'd vote for him to... that way he can afford a "nicer" truck and I can buy the MJ for cheap. :D
  8. I've got a 2.5L S14 that would fit nicely in there... or actually if I was doing it I'd drop the 3.0L M2 stroker out of my E30 in it. :D Wish I could find a nice 2002 in these parts that don't have the rear shock towers shot.
  9. Could be. Their were also long shaft one's and short shaft ones based on what year you have. I think 87-93 are long shafts and than 93+ are the short shaft ones. The long shaft one's shafts are almost twice as long. 93-2001 use part number 520676xx replace the xx with the tooth count you want. 91-1993 us some funky part number that seem to not have a rhyme or reason to them. It starts out at 520681xx but than I think it is 51-62 based on what tooth count you want. 51 = 29 tooth than 62 = 40 tooth. You can do that math to figure out what's in between. 87-1991 use part number J32127xx replace the xx with the tooth count you want.
  10. I would guess it's based on the axle and not the SWB vs. LWB. Are all 3 of the MJ's equipped with the same axle?
  11. It is, and as stated VERY easy to swap and relatively cheep as well. Not a huge issue...
  12. Mine has developed a MAJOR leak around the doors (hince the plastic bag on the seat).
  13. Gray buckets in my XJ will be for sale shortly... :brows: But yours is a 4dr. Not flip forward option. Good point.
  14. Gray buckets in my XJ will be for sale shortly... :brows:
  15. Just remember that XJ seats varied by model even on the same years. Laredo seats are different than "normal" seats when it comes to the cover as well as how the seat is "stuffed". I don't think I've ever seen any 2 sets of seats identical in the 87-92 range, even same year/models. Just don't want someone to get a set of wrong covers and have Pete waist his time getting you the wrong set....
  16. Recent posted in this thread from Motion about DPA's.
  17. I've get several sets of 17's for my E30 M3's.... (Heck I think I've got like 3 sets of rims sitting in boxes new; including a set of Alpina's) I'll look what I've got and measure the center bore and get back to you.
  18. What kind of 17" BMW wheels? -Lead_"got way to many sets of BMW rims"_Follow
  19. Bob, My wife says bring your wife. She wants another female there. But the grandson will work as well, we always like having him around.
  20. Just the angle of the pic in relation to the sun. They are the chrome ones in that pic. She's not diggn' them, so we'll probably be doing a swap here soon...
  21. The 1st cut is always the hardest, but trust me; it gets addictive!
  22. He's moved to TN now.
  23. Like some type of HammerTone Powder Coat or something.... I'm kinda diggin it.
  24. Any chance at a picture? Thanks again. Will try to get one for ya in the next few days if you still want one.
