Wow.. It's been forever since I've posted an update. I've done a lot since the last post and have learned a lot. Let's start with the backfiring issue first. Turns out, not the injectors. I guess the diaphragm on egr valves don't like baking in the desert for over a decade and then being abused daily after all that time in the oven... I have no idea how I passed smog in the first place last year. Swapped that and champion coppers and she runs a lot better when she's warmed up. Doing better there. I have smog due this month so I'm replacing the o2 sensor, manifold to cat exhaust pipe, and a new cat. As for the swap, that's a whole other can of worms. However, I do have the 4wd front axle installed as well as new steering including the v8 zj tie rod upgrade. Way better. I rebuilt the front axle before installing it aside from ball joints which I should've done but has been driving absolutely fine since the swap. Will get to those eventually. Only downside is the passenger side axle seal is leaking already.. Bummer there but oh well. I was leaking oil from the oil filter adapter but on the last oil change I replaced the oil pan gasket with a felpro permatorque gasket and a new oil filter adapter seal. When I went to replace the RMS I tried my hardest to remove the top half of the seal but to no avail. Hammer and a punch? Nope.. More drastic measures like attempting to use a wood screw to try to pull it out some and grab with needle nose? Didn't even budge a tad. The bottom half was so hard and brittle it took a solid 15 minutes of smacking with a hammer and degreaser and was a pain removing even the easier side. I know I should've replaced it but I will be rebuilding the bottom end before too long so I will definitely replace both when I do. I have the 4wd trans awaiting the opportunity to order the driveshaft but that's where I'm at an impasse. If I keep the truck SOA it'll be about $1000 for the setup since the trans is the np242 instead of the np231 and have less options for an SYE. OR, I can switch back SUA and get 4" rustys leaves and just hack a driveshaft together for a few hundred instead. Decisions, decisions. I recently replaced the headlight switch and now my dash lights work! I also finally got around to wiring in a set of euramtec cab lights the other day. At first they didn't turn on. Pulled the fuse and it was toast so I replaced it. Then, they didn't want to turn off... X.x did some reading and checked the driver side door jamb switch and it was pretty dirty so I hit It with a wire brush and cleaned it right up. Reconnected it and boom working cab lights! Next project on the list is installing the new steering column from the parts cherokee. It was burgundy but I painted it black and tried to match the original as best I could but it ended up a little too glossy but not bad. I also replaced the turn signal stalk beforehand since the wiper switch was all gummed up. Once I install the column, I'll finish up installing the cruise control. I mounted the servo and snagged the vacuum harness for the reservoir as well as the reservoir from a jeep at a local junkyard for cheap. I think that just about catches everything up to speed so I guess it's photo dump time! Stay tuned y'all! Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

I'm after a vinyl (I believe) one. Not the metal flex ducting. Here's a couple more pics. Of I can't find one of these I'll end up using the metal one to at least pass smog but would like a newer one of these. Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

No worries. I wish it was only the weather lol Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

Thank you! While obviously I would like to keep the price as low as possible, including shipping I would like to stay around 20 preferably but depending on shipping and condition I'm willing to pay around 30ish. Shipping would be to 93436. Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

Oddly enough living in CA and aside from smog, yes. While I do need it for smog and that's the main reason, I do live in a relatively cooler climate with occasional mornings in the low 20s in the winter. While it's not winter now, it does like to run pretty rough unless I let it idle for almost 10-15 minutes. Again not my main issue/concern but would be nice. Really only NEED it for smog since they are pretty strict in the land of fires and things overpriced. I know if I have to I can battle the metal ducting, but it sure would be nice to have the lock tabs. Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

All I was able to find were one for cjs. There was one round type but it didn't say the diameter of the hose. Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

Hi all. I'm after what I believe is called the heated intake air duct/hose. It's the one that goes from the exhaust manifold to the air box. I've looked all over and can only find the 2" dia. Metal flex ducting and have tried that before on my old cherokee but was a pain in the @$$ to fit over the 2" dia. fittings as one would imagine.. On my comanche though, it has what appears to be a vinyl duct with metal clamps on both ends making installation MUCH easier. I've already tried wrapping it in duct tape and it worked for a while but now the tape has started melting and it's probably best I just replace the hose this time. Was just hoping someone had one laying around they would want to get rid of by chance. Here's a pic of the one in after. Thanks all! Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

Heck I'll take it! Don't actually need anything but wanted to at least participate to maybe get more people to join in! On a separate note, the hitch is sturdy and putting in work! Got stuck in the riverbed and buddy had to pull me out and my drop hitch made the perfect recovery point being the only thing in the back that wasn't buried lol. That and a while back I had to move our 30ft rv with the truck and held up awesome! Thanks again! Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk -
Adding a center console and bucket seats
IronManche87 replied to DDJeep89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Actually I may be wrong and the screws aren't on the shifter and the short console and full console have the same front bracket because I pulled both brackets and didn't end up using either as I pulled the old console and out the full one in and it screwed right in. Can get pics after work. Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk -
Adding a center console and bucket seats
IronManche87 replied to DDJeep89's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I added ironically a maroon console to mine and have not yet installed the bracket but with the bucket seats I've had no problems with it moving. There should be a couple screws up front that screw to the shifter if you have a floor shift. Also grab the air vent that goes with the center console and make a block off for it since it'll be blowing air into the console instead of your feet. I used cardboard and plastering tape (just what I had available at the time) and riveted it. Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk -
I'm at 5.5" on 31s. I actually pieced everything together for my lift and couldn't have been more satisfied considering in all spent about $1,000 and have a really nice setup that will definitely last. The grand Cherokee tie rod was super easy since it bolted right in no drilling, reaming, or welding required. Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

I would go with the v8 zj tie rod and the regular mj drag link for steering. If you're lifted get the proper track bar to align the axle As well as control arms to adjust for castor and pinion angle as well. Pic is of the 4wd axle I just installed during the swap you can see the zj tie rod is solid and as thick as the drag link. Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

As nice as it would be, my truck isn't quite a looker but I've poured countless hours, parts, busted knuckles, and quite a few thousand dollars reviving her from the grave. 14 years in a Visalia junkyard does start to take its toll but thankfully only a very small handful of rust so I got lucky there! I'm currently in the middle of 4wd swapping her and she's coming along but not as fast as one would hope! Perhaps after I get her all back together I'll try for MJOTM! Would be an honor! Although I will gladly share one of my favorite pics of her! Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk
