Wow.. Second build in and I can't believe what I stumbled across.. https://comancheclub.com/topic/14435-87-mj-lifted-y-linked-n-more-to-come/page/3/ I'll start with the build sheet first. Caged Stroker Long armed 97 swapped 4.0l and interior Now for my discovery.. That red truck that they picked up at the junkyard? I noticed the interior looked exactly like mine did then seen the plates and it IS my truck!! I had lost Brandon's number shortly after buying it a couple years ago (broke my phone) and never got the chance to ask if he was one here but turns out he is lol I am beyond stoked! Just for reference this is the red truck now Sent from my LM-Q610(FGN) using Tapatalk

Beautiful truck! Congrats on MJOTM! It has been too long since we've had one! More pics of the interior! Maybe an engine bay shot? [emoji16] Sent from my LM-Q610(FGN) using Tapatalk -
It WILL be once I can get some time off lol still working 7 days a week so not much time to work on the truck but I'm getting my duckies in a row so before june I'll be able to take my 4wd truck up to Oregon to check out my property! That's the plan at least [emoji28] we all know how plans go lol Sent from my LM-Q610(FGN) using Tapatalk

I've ran everything but the scrapers so far but I've wrenched on them here and there! My favorite has got to be the 330 excavator at least so far lol and it was probably the easiest to pick up aside from the haul truck and skiploaders lol but its a blast! I also got my fire safety cert to run dozers on fires come season! A while back I had the idea to be an operator for CALFIRE and now I get to work WITH CALFIRE! Howdy y'all! Sorry this is so long but lots of good stuff! A while back I had posted about a recent change of work and just wanted to share some pics with you guys as I've been thoroughly enjoying the last 4ish months with this opportunity! It's been tough going some times but most the time its been a blast! I had no idea what exactly to expect when I put my notice in at the landscape supply yard I had previously worked at for 3 years but I'm beyond grateful that I decided to take the opportunity!! I've learned a great deal and only going to learn more and more! I had no idea what I was getting myself into like no benefits or anything like that but I benefit in the knowledge I'm gaining every day! I started out doing the usual grunt work but was quickly getting thrown onto machines I never thought I'd get to run. It was intimidating at first as my boss would routinely say "you ever ran this before?" ...no never... "Well hop in and get to it" ...uhhh whatever you say boss... [emoji28] but the best way to learn is to do and I'm grateful he has enough faith in me to do so. While some days I'm running equipmment, other days I get to work on it too! [emoji106] best part is I get to work in some out of the way places that I had never been too even though it's all been relatively local. It's awesome learning skills I can utilize when I start breaking ground on my property in Oregon! I've learned how to install septic systems, grade house pads, driveways, and we are currently digging a reservoir! All of which I would've had to pay someone else to do and its always nice saving money! Just wanted to share with y'all how its been going as well as some pics of some of the equipment I get to play on with some pics of the truck squeezed in the frame as well lol if you've made it this far, thank you for taking the time to read and please enjoy a nice photo dump! [emoji106] thanks all! Sent from my LM-Q610(FGN) using Tapatalk

Howdy y'all! Don't have much to update but I DID however finally get the driveshaft for the 4wd swap!! Still working 7 days a week so not much time to work on stuff mainly just wanted to post some pics of the truck lol hopefully I'll be able to vet to it soon though! In the meantime, enjoy a nice healthy load of some pics I've taken on my new phone! At first I wasn't so sure if it was that great of a camera for the price I paid but after taking some more holy cow this thing takes some really good pictures! The pic with the excavator was on my old phone but it's a pretty dang good one. Yes I get to work on both [emoji23] Enjoy y'all! [emoji106] Sent from my LM-Q610(FGN) using Tapatalk

2wd to 4wd comversion
IronManche87 replied to brooksstangl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It definitely does matter what you'll be swapping in but in my case, I got an 87 parts xj for my 87 and literally was entirely bolt on. But if you plan on swapping a newer drivetrain the work will be more extensive but you'll be able to piece together a pretty solid drivetrain. Just depends on the use of the truck. 2wd to 4wd comversion
IronManche87 replied to brooksstangl's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It's surprisingly pretty darn straight forward for these trucks. I too have an 87 I'm in the process of swapping. Mines a long bed which the only difficult part is/was finding the rear shaft. On a short bed (correct me if I'm wrong anyone) you can use I believe a front xj shaft with an SYE. But things needed would be as follows: Front axle Front driveshaft 4wd trans w/ tcase Rear driveshaft with correct length and spline count for your tcase output shaft or SYE 4wd shift selector Correct Speedo cable/connector into tcase Shift linkage bracket that bolts to trans tunnel That I believe is everything minus the badges which once you swap is just a nice touch [emoji106] I found it nice to do it in stages. I've been driving around on the 4wd front axle for a couple months now as I tried tracking down a cheaper rear shaft and haven't had a single issue even with doing the alignment myself. If you are lifted it's easier but I also had to get a new track bar since the 4wd axle sits the front a tad higher. I also would suggest rebuilding the front axle before swapping it in. Makes it a million times easier replacing everything beforehand. Then it's literally unbolt the 2wd axle then bolt the 4wd one in. If it's lifted I'd recommend adjustable control arms and track bar so once everything is in and you get it aligned, they can center the axle up as well as adjust caster. For the entire swap, you only have to drill out 4 pre dimpled holes for the shift linkage bracket. HOWEVER, this would be the perfect opportunity to swap out the crappy z linkage and get an aftermarket shift linkage kit which will eliminate 1) the z linkage setup which is prong to popping put and 2) will eliminate the need to drill out those holes. Unfortunately, I learned that AFTER drilling out the holes... If you have any questions feel free to ask away here as there are fellows here that are WAY more MJ saavy than myself but feel free to drop a pm as well with any questions! I'm sure plenty of us can provide pics as well as helpful tips and tricks when the time comes! Good luck and happy jeepin'! [emoji106] Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk -
This is actually a pretty cool idea! Just seeing this thread now but been here for a bit now. My name's Trevor and like everyone else here, I have a jeep problem [emoji23] most recent photo I have since I take way more pics of the jeep than I do myself lol Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

I think if we all team up and work together to share as much knowledge and help each other as much as possible, I don't think this place is going anywhere. We all share a passion so deep, that losing such a valuable friend and resource should bring is together and make this community stronger! I live in central California and the closest member to me is over 2 hrs away but once I get the 4wd swap done, there's nothing I wouldn't like more than to meet up with some fellow enthusiasts and have a little meet and greet! The closest OHV area to me is Pismo like 45 mins north but been dying to go on some trail rides! Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

The crop looks clean but honestly I'm a fan of both. The rectangular one would be easier to fit more places and less wasted material but I like the crop cut for a sleek look. Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

Actually I still have two more pieces to track down that I almost forgot about! Still need a tan ashtray and a tan full center console! Aside from those everything else is there! For the glove box, I have the original lock but not the key so I have a burgundy lock and key for now until I get the tan one rekeyed. Sent from my LGMS210 using Tapatalk

When I first got the truck it was missing a few pieces nothing too major. The headliner of course was gone but thanks to SMS Headliners I got an awesome replacement! That and the visors are the only lives that aren't OEM as I snagged visors from a mid 90s xj to have the plastic instead of the cardboard ones. Made it super easy to cover them with the supplied material to match the headliner! And thank you! It was my first experience with body work on my own and I'm pleased enough with the outcome! I'm sure a pic or two are repeated but who doesn't love some good ol' MJ pics [emoji41] the next update however should be one of the most significant in my build as I FINALLY found a driveshaft for my 4wd swap! Just scrounging up some funds and gonna pull the trigger! A fellow on one of the comanche FB pages had one laying around and soon it shall be MINE!! Stayed tuned y'all!
