The only way I would ever part a MJ is if it was a rust bucket. This one isn't.

89 4.0 Cam 180 Degrees Off?
jimoshel replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
If it's exactly 180 degrees out it will run, if the timing is set right. The pistons will still be going up and down in the proper sequence relative to the valves opening, closing. -
Well that sucks. Found another bolt and after trying 5 minutes to get it started with no luck I got a sinking feeling. Removed the starter and sure enough, the bolt had broke off just below the block surface. Now I got to pull everything so I can get to it with a drill and EZ out. Trying to look at the bright side, I have to drop the tranny any way to replace a leaking slave cylinder. When it rains........ No. More of a clattering with an occasional clunk.

Crawled under the DD to see why it was making funny noises when starting. Suspicion confirmed. One bolt was missing and the other one was 'a couple turns loose.' Can't slack off on the maintenance of a over 25 year old vehicle.

Not mentioning any names but................................................

Made it worthwhile, didn't it?

It's really hard to judge color in pics, but I think this is the shade of Blue you're looking for.

I've got a couple more. One is in my DD. Don't want to get rid of it. Got one on the shelf, condition unknown and a couple still in a Jeep. I'll check them out and get back to ya. I was referring to the wire coming out of the back of the radio to the plug. Sometimes the wire will break, or come loose right at the plug.

Deal! I'll even throw in breakfast before you leave.

Cracked head? Picked up a '87 MJ this morn. 4.0, AW4, column shift. Traded a 12 gauge shot gun straight across for it. Shot gun may have been worth $75-$100. Been sitting about 3 years. Took me 45 minutes and 'couple' shots of ether to get it running. Big grey cloud came out of exhaust. After running for 30 minutes it cleared up. No noises or rattles, sounds, runs good. Drove it around the yard, shifted good. Drained oil, estimating about 2 qts of coolant with the oil. Compression readings were interesting. Cyl idle 1200-1500 RPM 1 60 PSI 75 PSI 2 60 75 3 50 50 4 60 75 5 45 60 6 60 75 All 6 plugs were rusty and gunky on the end sticking in the cylinder. Anybody want to give me $5,000 for it? As is, where is.

Father in law had a still behind the corral. Haven't had any decent shine since he passed.

'94ZJ 4.0. Can anybody explain to me why it takes seven bolts to hold a PS pump on? What was wrong with two? One for a pivot and one to clamp the adjustment. :dunno: :hmm: :???:

The clusters are a direct swap. The speedo cable hook up is different on some years. Easier to swap the speedo head than the cable. Change the oil pressure sw and temp sw on the engine to gauge sending units.

Red. Is that the radio I sold you? If so it was working on all four when I removed it from the test bench. Might check the wiring from the back of the radio to the plugs. First get some contact cleaner and spray the Volume, Balance and Fade control. Make sure you use electrical contact cleaner. Then check the wiring. White going to pin H and Black going to pin A. Let me know what happens. Jim

Pat. Congratulations on growing up.

Not much. Between it having to take a backseat to more pressing projects and the weather. Got a adapter plate worked out so i can use a AX15 instead of the Chevy T5 and the piping for the turbo, Stripped a '97ZJ of it's brakes, and both axles to swap onto the MJ. that's about it.

Yes, you can drive it like that. Why not just remove it and install the idler pulley?

Has any body here, switched a 2wd Dakota to 4wd using XJ,ZJ parts?

Saw this on ebay. Don't know if it's been posted on here before or not.

Mjotm - April, 2014 - Blue Xj's '88 Longbed

Congrats on MJOTM. Beautiful machine, and a driver. Not a pavement queen. -
And we have a winner. Ben. When you come to claim your prize be sure and bring your cousin. And thank you for the hundred dollar bill . I am sure you realize that it did not influence my decision in any way.

Let's just substitute 'female family member' for 'sister'.

Is one of the administrators having a little fun here? I have submitted the above post three times. All three times the letter M has been changed to a X. What gives?
-
I have had several CC members suggest that perhaps I was a little selfish in having so many MJ'S and keeping them for myself. After giving it much thought I decided that they were full of it and ignored them. However being a fair person I am today, and today only, going to give away one of my precious trucks. To every body that introduces me to their sister I will put their name in a hat. Tonight at 2000hrs, (8.00PM) I will draw a name from that hat. That person will become the new owner of a mJ. Hint; The better looking the sister, the better the chance of winning. Good luck.

I don't think they had a set rule on where to put them. I've found them behind door panels, under the seat cushion and behind the seat back.
