    Team Cherokee

Mon noon I ordered 2 quick connect repair kits from Team Cherokee. The UPS delivery just left. Now that's service.
  2. Good thing it was a Virginia deer. If it had been a Colorado deer that thing would have been totaled. Nice score, and I love the color.
  3. 3rd gear? Do they still use those things? Nice lookin car.
  4. Received a letter from Mke. Had the title and keys to the MJ in it.Mailed from Las Vegas. No note or anything saying how he's doing. OK I hope and wish him best in school.
  5. What engine? I would assume from the Question it's a 2.5, electric fuel pump in gas tank. Sounds like you just got the wrong pump. Take your old pump in to the parts store and have the jerk,er clerk compare it.
  6. Get an American BF. :rotf: :USAflag: :Canadaflag: Atten Pete, Can't we get a British flag in the smilies? Canada's close but not it.
  7. [quote. Yes its only the stocker now but its got plans . Gotta start somewhere.
  8. 5 and 6 exhaust seats cracked from seat to water jacket.

    nice jeep ad

Think they could have found a bumpier road.
  10. Sounds like I might have to put another squirrel on the treadmill under the hood to keep up with that one. Going to be up one of these days and mooch a cup a coffee from ya. :brows:
  11. GOT IT RUNNING Seems to be a leaking head gasket or cracked head. Know more about this afternoon after I dig into it.
  12. My opinion, It's metal contracting, cooling down. Be interesting to listen to a plastic VC and see, er, hear what it sounds like.
  13. Remove drain plug, Fill pan with explosive mixture, Propane, Butane, Helium Hydrogen, etc, Screw spark into drain hole. Stand back. Fire spark plug.
  14. Put and end to this. I have an identical MJ I parked beside this one and popped hoods and compared lines. Every thing was identical. Nothing was missing.I've got a couple S10 2.8 engines sitting on the bench I'm rebuilding. I also have a neighbor with a warped, twisted sense of humor, Like me. Getting suspicious I asked him if he knew anything about it. He did. End of story.
  15. Been there. Firm rule. Never do anything when PO'D. Cool down first, then do it.
  16. :huh???: That's not rebuilding. That's blasphemy. Then you guys are going to send me to hell for what I'm doing to my sport truck .... I tell you what Jim , I'll trade you my 2.5 or better yet you can have it . Its already cost me just as much as a V8 swap to find and rebuild parts for this dammed thing and it still needs rebuilt . Just found a small block LS1 for 800 bucks with harness and trany . The next time someone thinks this truck is a joke , I'll leave little bits of rubber all over their windshield . This truck will have life again I tell you . I might pass it up for an LS2 400+ HP GTO motor , we'll see . i wanna see this Probably put the pistons in upside down and then cut holes in the top so the connecting rods could fit. And about the 2.5, I'll take it.
  17. I can't fault anybody that swaps out stuff on their Jeeps. I was putting V8's in Jeeps when we had to make our own adapters. Anybody even know what a flathead Ford is anymore? Back to Comanche09's situation. I wouldn't go over $450 tops and thats if it runs really good. Since you'll be getting everything needed go HO. Around here I can buy rolled XJ'S all day for $400 tops. A little more if there's something on it I want. A couple weeks ago I got a '89 XJ for $300. Runs perfect, 4wd,4.0, 5spd, no rust, no dents, no damage, no title. Perfect donor for MJ conversion, restoration.
  18. Got the motor back together and it runs great. One minor problem. Got a piece of tubing, black plastic left over. 3/16in. Has a 2in rubber bushing on one end. Goes approximately 2in then makes a 90* turn to the left, another 3in then a 90* bend down, 3in, then another 90* back to straight ahead 5in. Any one knows where it goes? OH! And NO pics. Don't even ask. :D :rotf: Can't wait to see the responses on this one.
  19. Quite frankly I think it can be done. Take a BFH and beat in both ends of the tank a couple inches. Move the filler hole back a foot, or mickey mouse a 's' tube to connect the tank and filler door. Also quite frankly I don't think it would be worth the trouble. There are better ways. I think one way would be to route the exhaust pipe outside the frame rail and install a MJ 18 gal tank in the space between the frame and drive shaft. A mirror image of the original, only reversed. Or get a universal replacement type that will fit in the space. Connect the two tanks with a cross over feed or separate them completely, using a separate filler and feeding them into a switchable 'Y'. short box filler door location long box filler door loc short box with 18 gallon tank that's how much room you got to play with 23 gallon tank on top
  20. Just ordered 2 sets, 4 connectors, from team Cherokee. $51 with shipping. Dealer wanted $20 for one connector and and told me I needed 3 of them. I told him what he could do with them.
  21. Not only is the dealer a rip off, the one here is a real AH. Thanks for the tip.
  22. Any body know where a quick connect 'O' ring spacer kit can be obtained? Besides the dealer. Anybody recommend a way to replace the 'O' rings without it? Talking about where the gas lines attach to the fuel rail.
  23. Basically there is 3 kinds of water damage. Salt water, fresh water clean and flood, muddy water. The secret of saving a water damaged vehicle is getting it cleaned and dried out as soon as possible. The body. Remove all panels, floor mats, upholstery and anything that will interfere with with the cleaning, drying process. If it was flooded with clean water,IE, drove off into a stream or lake, it will be mostly just a drying process. If it was a flood then the water will have been muddy leaving behind mud and crud that needs to be removed.Sea water is the worst as the salt starts attacking everything upon contact and getting worse when exposed to air. I honestly don't know if it helped or not but on Kwaj we used baking soda to neutralize the salt before flushing good with clean water. If the engine was running when submerged there is probably damage to it. Think hydro lock. If it wasn't there is a good chance it is OK. I used a car wash because of the higher pressure and hot water. However the backyard and garden hose will work just fine. On the motor drain the oil. Look for water. If there is no water in it then reuse it, unless it was ready for a change. Remove the spark plugs. Look for any evidence of moisture. Remove air cleaner, AC hose as applicable. Turn engine thru several revolutions. Look for water out of plug holes. If the engine was dry then squirt oil into all the cylinders and replace the plugs. If water came out of any of the plug holes plan on removing the head and checking for damage IE, bent connecting rod. When reassembling be liberal with the oil. Don't try to start the the car or apply voltage to anything until it is completely dry. In 1965 I salvaged a 1957 Mercury, 1958 Pontiac, 1952 CJ5 and a 1945 Harley Davidson that had been completely submerged in the '65 flood here. In 1987 I drug a '74 CJ5 out of the Platte River that had been upside down in it for over 3 months and salvaged it. It's a heck of a lot of work but it can be done. What's your time and the vehicle worth? The main thing is get into ALL the little, hidden nooks and crannys and get them clean and dry. Good Luck, Jim
  24. :huh???: That's not rebuilding. That's blasphemy.
  25. There's already more scrap than MJ's. Rebuild.
