There's a lady lives on the East side got a cherry, showroom condition '91 MJ. Been trying to buy it from her for almost a year now. Refuses to even discuss it. She parks it in the back yard and throws her trash in the bed. When it gets full, about 2-3 months average, she drives it to the dump and empties it. I'm thinking about either sending her anonymous death threats or marrying her. Geez what some peeps will do for the cause.

That looks like a cigar (expensive) box.

That is correct. A quick but messy test. Remove the upper rad hose from the radiator. Make sure you can see coolant in the hose. Bump the starter. If coolant comes out the radiator your OK. If it comes out the hose you have the wrong pump. -
And yes, I copied and pasted. That's what it's for isn't it? AN IRISH GHOST STORY This story happened a while ago in Dublin, and even though it sounds like an Alfred Hitchcock tale, it's true. ~~~~~~~~~~~~ John Bradford, a Dublin University student, was on the side of the road hitchhiking on a very dark night and in the midst of a big storm. The night was rolling on and no car went by. The storm was so strong he could hardly see a few feet ahead of him. Suddenly, he saw a car slowly coming towards him and stopped. John , desperate for shelter and without thinking about it, got into the car and closed the door.... only to realize there was nobody behind the wheel and the engine wasn't on. The car started moving slowly. John looked at the road ahead and saw a curve approaching. Scared, he started to pray, begging for his life. Then, just before the car hit the curve, a hand appeared out of nowhere through the window, and turned the wheel. John , paralyzed with terror, watched as the hand came through the window, but never touched or harmed him. Shortly thereafter, John saw the lights of a pub appear down the road, so, gathering strength; he jumped out of the car and ran to it. Wet and out of breath, he rushed inside and started telling everybody about the horrible experience he had just had. A silence enveloped the pub when everybody realized he was crying... and wasn't drunk. Suddenly, the door opened, and two other people walked in from the dark and stormy night. They, like John , were also soaked and out of breath. Looking around, and seeing John Bradford sobbing at the bar, one said to the other.... Look Paddy....there's that f.....g idiot that got in the car while we were pushing it!!!!'

I've seen to many instances where the part no on the box was correct but the item in the box wasn't. Try to check the pump itself. The letters 'RVS' will be cast on the water pump inlet. -
Just the way it works. You can go a month and not see one and then pass 5 in one day.

In the South East a lot of the trees are what's called trash trees. No good for lumber, just firewood and pulp mills. Knocking one down just for the heck of it is immature, but then that's why we're all young at one time in our lives. To have a little fun and do something dumb now and then. I'd be more upset about damaging the Jeep than I would the tree. I am one of the most intelligent persons that I know, but I have never let that stop me from doing dumb things. :D

Welcome to the "Got screwed by PP and refuse to ever use them again" club.

Mostly just my pride. Got it hung up on the roots and the forest floor was slick so the tires just spun an dug. Took a HiLift jack and a come-a-long to get it off. Didn't hurt the bumper.

That tree spent it's entire life growing to get to where it was , just to be ruined, killed by some immature individual who couldn't take a little ribbing from a 'friend' Shame, shame, I think the biggest tree I ever took down was a 10 incher. Used a J20 on it.

changing location temp sending unit
jimoshel replied to wannabeMJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Use the same sending unit. If you get a after market unit you may have to get a matching sending unit. Read the instructions. A bolt would work but a brass plug would be better. Stewart Warner makes the best after market gauges in the country. Don't get that chintzy dime store stuff. -
When I was younger I had a '45 Harley Davidson. Got 50 miles to a qt of oil and 3 gals of gas. The gas was 19cents a gal and the oil was 5 cents a qt. Went to the used oil holding tank in the back of the station. Could tell when there was some axle lube mixed in with the last batch of oil 'cause it would only need 3/4 of a qt to top off. That's pretty much my experience on oils. Always thought synthetics was some sort of a super oil. "To old we get to soon. To smart we get to late" :smart:

For those that did the 3.4 swap
jimoshel replied to Craft86MJ's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It should be at the 6 o'clock position. Unless it's a foreign job in which case it should be at the VI position. -
I always said, "if it takes more than 2 rolls of duct tape to fix something, then scrap it." Was a nice lookin grill tho. :rotf:

I reckon we can mix anything we want, but should we? Say I got a oil pan full of Amsoil and I'm a qt low. No Amsoil. Got Valvoil, Mobil 1, etc.
-
Got the pan and head off today. A close inspection says it's rebuildable so that's the route I'm taking. Thanks for the input everybody. Jim
-
The hatch did it. Thanks guys. Now if I can just get a FSM for it. EBay didn't have one.
-
Didn't work. They're still blinking.

Today I picked up a 1994 Grand Cherokee Laredo. Unfortunately my Jeep knowledge pretty well ends at 1989. Know nothing about the '90's. Has the I6 with auto, 4wd, rust, dent free and apparently every option the factory had for that year. Killer stereo, every thing works, except for one minor detail. The hole in the oil pan where the bottom half of the connecting rod went thru it. $350. I originally got it to part it out but after seeing the body, no way. Gonna fix it. Questions. What year motors will interchange with this one? How do I turn off the 'security' light on the dash and the head and tail lights blinking? Anybody got a owners manual or a FSM for it? Corry, This should be down your alley. Jim :hmm:

If they come out with one in my color, reckon I'll buy it.

I got a big *ss magnet that I take with me when trailin. When it's really steep I hang the magnet out the high side of the Jeep. Ain't rolled one yet. :clapping:

Looking at buying a 1990 sport truck comanche
jimoshel replied to rickadootrd's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Since the 4 cylinder has 33.33% fewer moving parts than the 6 cylinder means it is 33.33% more reliable. That's 33.3% fewer parts to possibly malfunction. I have a 1988 MJ with 2.5, 4sp and 3.55 rear end. I drive 75 on pavement. Gets 21-23mpg and so far has been trouble free and very reliable.223K on the clock. Don't let a 2.5 stop you from buying.
