  1. Looks good. Any body know if the front air dam is custom made, after market or adapted from another car?
  2. In the 'old' days we could alter the odometer 2 ways. Hook it up to an electric drill, or small motor and let it run. Time it for one minute to see what the rate of change was and then go do something else while it ran. Or disassemble it and set the numbers where you wanted them. Every state in the union and the federal government has laws against odometer tampering. Generally there is a line in there that says "with intent to defraud" so if your not going to sell it OK. The thing to do is just go ahead and reset by whatever means you choose and then just keep your mouth shut. Frankly I'm surprised the odometer isn't tied into the computer keeping a record of the mileage. It will be.
  3. Wonder how Rhino truck bed liner would work.
  4. Look for a industrial supply house or large air conditioning facility. On the REALLY big commercial units they wrap the compressor in a insulating material to deaden the sound. They use both sticky and straps to bind them to the compressor housing. Also try a semi truck salvage yard. They use insulation under the hood. Or just get an old pad from a XJ at the junk yard,,,er,,,auto salvage emporium.
  5. Any body have a way to remove the plastic fittings on top of the valve cover without breaking them, or cutting the rubber gasket? This is the big fresh air intake from the air filter box and the little one going to the intake manifold. How do you get the plastic hose off the fitting? I'm thinking heat, hair dryer, might work there. :wrench:
  6. :USAflag: Got that right. :USAflag:
  7. I have a portable welder with 110-220 outlets I use. The first couple years here we had 4 outages. I would drag the welder out of the shop and hook it up to the main breaker circuit. The 4th time I did that I just left it there rather than drag it back to the shop. Haven't had an outage since. almost 5 years. Thinking about moving it back to the shop but why tempt fate?
  8. Your gas tank capacity is 18.5 gal. gas sending resistance Empty=0 ohms half full=44 ohms Full=88 ohms
  9. Rusty? No title? No engine? I wouldn't go over $200

    New Ride

    Beautiful animal, beautiful country.
  11. It looks like the copper foil for the panel lights is damaged at the connector. Easily fixed by soldering a copper wire across the break.
  12. This is if your only replacing one. It can be done with all 8 but I prefer to pull the head. Remove the rocker arm and it's mate. It can be pushed over to one side but it's much easier to just remove it. Remove the push rod. If your lucky, a magnet on the end of a long rod will now remove the lifter. Otherwise use a regular lifter puller. I've only done this on 2.5. I think the hole in the head for the 4.0 pushrod is smaller than the hole on the 2.5
  13. I must be missing something here. In the last week I've charged 2 ZJ'S. Neither one of them had a square head, fitting and there was only one cap on the port. they both took a charge when i pulled the lever.
  14. In my younger days I preferred a basic vehicle, Standard trans, No AC or pwr strg, To a luxuriate one. In my old age I have learned to appreciate luxury. A '93 and a '94 ZJ fully equipped helped change my outlook. For the last couple months I have had a RUST FREE '88 Sport and a RUST FREE '98 ZJ sitting side by side contemplating a complete swap of all the goodies. A '88 RUST FREE MJ with A/C, pwr windows, pwr seats, pwr strng, factory stereo and overhead console sounds intriguing. We'll see.
  15. Take something, the head of a nail, and see if you can depress the core stem on the valve. That's the valve where you fill the system at. You should be able to push it down. Is the can fully screwed onto the fill adapter? Is the adapter fully seated on the valve?

That isn't Thompson Canyon is it? Crown point road and FR137, more or less.
  17. Could it be possible the shroud has just moved? Maybe shifted closer to the fan blades?
  18. If the system was empty it will take 1 can (16 oz) to recharge before the pressure switch will kick in. Hold the can. If after 10-15 seconds it should be cold. If it is cold then it is charging. If it doesn't get cold then something isn't working. It takes 2, 16 oz cans to fully charge. Assuming you are using 134a.
  19. That doesn't look like a standard MJ or XJ mirror. I'm thinking maybe it came off something else. Maybe the attaching screws are accessible from inside the door. If there are no screw heads on the inside of the door then they must be outside, under the cover. Inspect the cover carefully. Sometimes the cover is held on by a small screw in a concealed place. If there is no screw, then the cover must be removable by prying. Get a bigger crow bar. Also it might need a sliding or twisting motion to unlock it.
  20. If the hole was in a hard to reach place i would swap the radiator. But it's not. It's in plain sight, easily accessible without removing anything, just saying "here I am. Come get me" Tomorrow I'm going to get a soldering gun and try melting it. If that don't work then drill a hole and screw a screw into it. Heck. I might even just stick a wad of chewing gum over it. With all the different plastics out there, there is a solvent that will work on this. It's just knowing which one, which is why I posted the question in the first place. See if anybody knows.
  21. 1. Liquid dish detergent 2.A small, thin piece of metal,It has to be flat so it will slide down into the hole. There are special tools for this but I took a small screw driver and ground it down to where it would fit. There is a small barb protruding from the pin that sticks into the connector. You want to push this barb in so the wire will pull out. Get a scrap connector and break it apart. Look at the pins. This will show you what needs to be done. 3. The black tape is used on long runs. To keep it from unraveling, run the end back under it's self and pull tight. Then glue it. I use liquid insulating tape. works great. The adhesive type is used where it is holding something for example a cable clamp.

That fire is going to melt that snow pack, creating a flood that is going to turn that tranquil stream into a raging torrent that is going wipe out half the canyon. Shame, shame.
