  2. The V6 in your truck is more than likely original since it was only offered in that year unless they swapped it from a different '88 with the same V6. I don't know much about the V6's other than that. Is it 2wd? Looks like it but just checking. Safety issues first. I bought my MJ after it sat in a field for 20 years. After I got it running, I started with all the BS to keep me safe. Once you get yours mechanically sound, I'd do the same. Might look into a 5 speed swap to start off with and convert it to external slave. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  3. Just noticed you're in Corpus. I might be riding through on Wed to do some fishing in my Comanche.
  4. Nice start for sure. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  5. LOL Never thought about that, but...yea, I can see certain people cringing over that one.
  6. I replaced my entire system with Walker Exhaust products. I looked up the P/N's on Rock Auto and then searched for them on Google and ended up buying them on Amazon. Perfect fitment. Oh, I didn't use the Walker muffler. No idea what it was but it was cheap. 30 bucks tops. Sounds okay. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  7. Perfect. Thanks. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  8. The guy at the inspection station laughed when he saw the name "Comanche" on the side if the truck when he was giving it a walk around. "Can you imagine the kind of trouble you would stir up if you named a truck Comanche nowadays?" We both had a good laugh and chatted for a bit. Not something I really ever thought of as offensive, but I suppose it could be taken that way to the right person. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  9. Knocked one off the other day when i rubbed up beside the MANche. What's the best method or product to adhere them? Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  10. I'm gonna try and rehab it. Will be functional for my beach excursions. Better than laying under the truck trying to get the spare out. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk

  12. Used it to do some trash hauling the other day. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk
  13. Rear: MONROE 31094 Front: MONROE 32196 These are what I run and they are pretty darn smooth. OP mentioned that his '89 had blue shocks, and these might very well be them. Oh, and these are cheap. $16 each or something like that.
  14. What's the total price, including shipping? I'm sure it varies some, just getting an idea.
  15. John, is your reservoir in good shape? Just curious if you missed a crack in it by chance.
  16. I find it best to have the front end offf the ground when bleeding the PS pump. Once on jack stands, make sure there is a good level in the pump (assuming it is good, clean fluid. Replace if not.) Aand cycle the steering wheel lock to lock a few times and then start the truck. Once running, do the same, however, at each lock, hold it firmly for a few seconds in each locked position. This should get the air out. You can cycle it a few times and repeat until the noise stops. If you are unable to get it to stop, it might be a belt issue OR the pump could simply be messed up. In my experiences, doing the above will typically resolve any issues you might have. I have this puller/installer and really like it. Works well. https://www.amazon.com/Lisle-39000-Pulley-Puller/dp/B000XEX00A
  17. What are the specs on it? Love the story, btw.
  18. If someone has one, I'm in San Antonio, TX. I don't mind paying shipping if we can work it out. Thanks
  19. Fixed the coolant leak at the water pump and swapped out the power steering pump. No more leaks umder the hood, finally.
  20. It's usually the obvious thing. Glad it quieted up. I have a noise that started tonight on mine coming from the front drivers side. I suspect it's the unit bearing. Ironically, it was the first time my girlfriend went for a ride with me in it and it starts with that crap.
  21. As stated, check the collar and surface it rides on to be sure that thete isn't any scoring. If that collar (it's where the copper line is soldered and air initially enters the locker) is damaged at all, that's $100 right off the bat. If it is damaged, I would probably walk since there's no telling the condition. If it visually checks out, you can see if you can air pressure to it and make sure it is not leaking and listen for engagement. I've honestly never placed air on one out of the vehicle, so no clue if it would actually be a useful way to check it, but I suppose it would not hurt.
  22. For your lift question, I do not know off hand what the rear leaf spring width is on an MJ vs an XJ, BUT I seem to recall that there is a difference, so the lift you mentioned will not work for you unless you plan on acquiring different add-a-leafs. The front stuff pucks and shocks would work for you. If you really want to save some money, message me and we can see what shipping would be on some pucks I have in my garage. You pay shipping and they're yours. I know what being on a budget is all about, so I don't mind helping a fellow Jeeper out when I can. With the pucks, you will get the altitude you want up front, and you can add some shocks in the future. You really don't need them right off the bat unless you really are flexing it out offroad. EDIT: The pucks I have are 1.75"
  23. While 31's are nice, I don't think I would go anymore than 30's, especially if you are not currently planning on changing anything else out. I have several friends running these tires (various sizes) with lots of success. Price is good, and they seem to wear well and last a long time. http://www.discounttire.com/buy-tires/hankook-dynapro-atm-rf10/p/10858
  24. Oh, as far as brand, I typically buy the Castrol stuff since it is readily available and seems to do well. I use it in all my vehicles.
