I will likely be swapping a 4.0 into my 2.5 equipped MJ and even though I'm sure I know the answer, will the 2.5 radiator work if I plan on using an electric fan? I have a brand new condenser, drier and radiator, and would love to keep them but worse case scenario, I'll buy new ones. It looks like the 4.0 radiator is pushed back on 4.0 equipped vehicles but I figured I'd ask anyways to see if someone has done it. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk

Learned the hard way V6 to I6 engine swap
Jtrux replied to sdougwilliams's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'm leaning towards a non-Jeep engine swap also. My MJ has a 2.5L and it would be about the same money for me to swap an LS vs a 4.0 unless someone gave me a 4.0 XJ for free to swap it all over. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk -
Where do you work? I used to be a carman for Union Pacific. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk

How much of a pain was the ordering process? I was actually considering ordering a Gobi JKU Sport.

Was it an option? My '87 Base doesn't have one and it looks awfully original so I'm led to believe that it never came with one. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk

Holy crap. I swear this didn't pop up in my search before. http://www.4wheelparts.com/Exterior-Parts-Car-Care/Omix-ADA-Fuel-Tank-Filler-Tube-52100174.aspx?t_c=3&t_s=470&t_pt=3969&t_pn=OAI52100174&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&scid=scplpOAI5210017490442&sc_intid=OAI5210017490442&gclid=CjwKEAjwlpbIBRCx4eT8l9W26igSJAAuQ_HGdZcF4V9yoIRcxwLwOZWF7G6WWSvrxuV0492UglkilxoCM83w_wcB Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk

10psi per thousand RPM is considered good by most. My '06 LJ has the tick from time to time. Certain oils made it worse, some better. I've had the best results with Castrol synthetic 10W30. As far as keeping rockers and push rods in the same place, it is truly not necessary, but if you happen to have a spare roll of masking tape handy, get after it. Personally, I never do, and I've had no issues. As far as lifters go, the only time I really mess with keeping track of them is if the cam has a profile with different exhaust and intake lifts. If they are the same, I would argue that it truly doesn't matter. The lifter is not fixed in the bore, and therefore, the relationship between the cam lobe and lifter surface changes constantly. I know most will make it a point to put them back in the same spot, but if they get out of order, no need to sweat it. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk

Looking down at the combine cycle from the top of the largest conventional boiler. The steam generator is not shown in this pic. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk

The LM 6000's are our peaking units, yes. 50MW's each. Our conventional units produce 225, 225 and 440 respectively. The combine cycle is approx 460MW's maxed out. It's definitely a fun job. I consider my fortunate to have stumbled into it. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk

I work at the local utility company here in San Antonio and am an operator at one of the power stations here. We've got a total of 10 generators on this site. 4 LM6000's 2 on 1 combined cycle 3 conventional gas units from the 60's Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk

Btw, in the pic, I just mocked it up for the purpose of demonstrating how I set it up. It was already snugged down in the pic. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk

Had some time today to look at the leak on the sending unit. The push washers are kind of a PITA so this is how I managed to get it seated nice and snug. That's a 9/16 socket and a 4" C clamp. Didn't go crazy but got the O ring compressed and the push washer is well seated on to the wire grommet thing. Let's hope it doesn't leak. Sent from my LGLS992 using Tapatalk

Spartan Locker won't unlock D30, can't steer

I am going to throw something out there...possible broken axle shaft. Might pull the shafts to check. I've got about 140k on one with zero issues and pretty serious wheeling so I can't imagine one breaking but it's possible. -
I was looking at Grainger's site the other day and their prices didn't seem to be anymore than the online prices. I think Proto sets the prices BUT I could be wrong. I've used Amazon and Grainger for Proto purchases. I will probably be buying Proto pretty much exclusively from now on.

I've been buying Proto lately to replace worn our Cman or just to buy new tools that I was in need of in the first place. I have some Snap On stuff that I've picked up over the years. Electric impact, impact sockets and extensions, a few ratchets and chrome socket sets, etc, but lately Proto has been my go to purchase. We used Proto a lot when I worked at Union Pacific and it held up to serious beatings. I have an old 1/2" ratchet and recently purchased a 1/4" ratchet to replace the Cman piece of crap I've been fighting with for the last several years. Here's a pic I just snapped to quickly compare the two. The tooth engagement is like 45 or something odd like that but it feels very nice and solid, unlile that Cman POS.
