Collin's 2nd MJ: Project "Mighty Mouse"
feerocknok replied to 90PioSport99's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
What sort of specs are we looking at as far as drivetrain? -
john stewart, and stephen colbert! The Colbert/Stewart campaign has been changed to the Colbert/Colbert campaign. Def voting for Colbert and himself. I like the "no bears" platform they have.

It hasn't happened yet, but please don't flame in this post! Last time we had a political discussion it turned into an argument, so Pete had to lock it. I'm actually curious who people are voting for and why, but not who they aren't voting for and why not.

How's the power? Love to see some pics!

400sbc in the jeep
feerocknok replied to billybob_jeep's topic in MJ Hardcore Tech: Epic Journeys to Greatness
Are you bending all new fuel lines and such from the stock tank or using a different tank? Also, will your brake booster be able to clear the valve covers, or will you have to modify something? -
These guys named all the discrepencies I can think of. Nice write-up!

I love it! I'd rather have that than a minivan when I become whipped.

How's the injection work on it?

help with chevy lift on manche
feerocknok replied to project88mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
They're usually 1/2" thick. The Energy Suspension spacers come with new isolators if you decide to go that route. Another route would be to stack isolators. Every one on top of your original will give 1/2" of lift. -
'90 would be the last year of a direct bolt. There's a difference in the heads after that from the H.O., but there is a way to make it work. Someone?

Your air filter is clogged, so that will Kill your mileage, but that oil is from the crankcase ventilation, as you said. I'd throw your blow-by tube into a catch-can (gatorade bottle). 4.0s have alot of blow-by; putting it into a can will let you know how much, and save your filter.

oil at the end of exhaust manifold
feerocknok replied to luke87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Try and fix the leak first, as Pete said. After that's done, evaluate how much smoke is actually coming out of the tailpipe. If it's a little bit, start looking at doing a rebuild, getting a used motor, or getting a remanned motor. If it's billowing, take care of it quickly. Junkyard motors are inexpensive. Getting a donor rig is also a good option. My work sells 4.0 long blocks for (I think) 1200, with a 3 year, 36,000 mile warranty. A donor rig can cost 500, but it is used and has no warranty, but the costs may be worth it to you. -
It's a 3.999. Duh!

:D I dissaprove of the floormats, but give the  to the truck. Pretty nice!

Also, something that helped me on some DIYs was the fact that there were 2 or 3 of what I wanted to do, so different pictures with different explanations. Repeats were Nice!

oil at the end of exhaust manifold
feerocknok replied to luke87's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
White smoke is usually coolant. Could be a head gasket or a warped head that needs machining. Blue smoke is usually oil. A leak between the manifold and downpipe is most likely the gasket between the two or a cracked manifold. The gunk is just carbon. It'll be near any exhaust leak. If it turns out to be burning oil, it's 99% of the time caused by worn cylinder walls. This means the cylinder walls need to be bored out by a machine shop or a get a replacement motor. Burning oil, means the engine needs some sort of strip down/build up. -
One of the Audi forums I'm on has the titles set-up with the area it pertains to first, and it's nice: (Suspension) Installing coil-overs (Exterior) Clear corner lenses (Electronics) One-touch rear windows (Exterior) Painting lower molding Makes things quick for me to find, and if I'm only, say, working on my exterior appearance, I can tell which ones would apply to me easily.

Here's the Energy Suspension part numbers for their coil spacers available in black or red polyurethane: 1-3/4" Black -- 2.6102g 1-3/4" Red -- 2.6102r 3/4" Black -- 2.6103g 3/4" Red -- 2.6103r Don't spend more than $40 on em. -

My 2 cents: They're a gimmick, just like buggy leaves and z-boxes. Yes, they allow for more droop, but it's not really usable, is dangerous if they unload, and are causes for a more expensive driveshaft and longer than necessary shocks. I can understand the scissor shackle idea if you go with longer leaf springs than stock: That way, you don't need to build a new leaf mount and the droop is free. I can also understand the revolving part: Orbit eyes will help relieve the fatigue of twisting from your springs, allowing them to flex more freely. But, I think they're a bit gimmicky. You definitely will get more flex if you use them though. Take it or leave it.

That's more what I meant. Thank you for the better wording.
