  1. I was thinking to run a bar across the B-hoop where the diagnol bars meet it. Basically just something to give that hoop more support.
  2. When I drive my Yoter, I wave at not-redneck-Yoters. When I drive my Comanche, I wave at Every Comanche, lifted Cherokees, and nod at Wranglers/CJs.
  3. I bought a set of BFG ATs, 285/75R16, 95% tread on wheels for $500. I would've paid 600.
  4. People always ask where the other half of my '84 Toyota is. I haven't come up with a smart-@$$ remark on that yet  But everybody I've met so far knows my MJ's a Comanche :dunno:
  5. My XTerrains are horrid on sidehills and the previous owner tore 2 sidewalls on them. ProComp, however, shipped him new tires for free to replace his damaged tires. There's some good and bad first/second hand experience on em. Don't sidehill.
  6. Apparently the guy a couple blocks up from me is getting a full story done up on his when it's finished. He's already got it lined up with JP. I'll be buying that issue. '99 interior, front end, motor with wiring harness on 35xsomethin'x16s.
  7. If it was my Jeep, with all of my web-wheeling experience, I think the only change I would make to the cage is at least a crossbar on the b-hoop. Although my truck is a DD, my father strongly suggests that I add an interior rollcage to the point that he may financially back it. I wheel the truck as hard as I can, and accidents happen. A tree saved my last truck from going into multiple rolls and my MJ doesn't need the same fate.
  8. Well, Pub is listed as "General chit-chat and everything non-tech or non-Comanche goes here," therefor I don't think a Cheromanche is a Comanche.
  9. I'll get back to this battle of slowness on Sunday. Time to go road trippin'!
  10. I can't believe it, not one set of taillights in that pic!
  11. Is that a compression problem or something? Even I can hold 55 up a grade!
  12. Love the semi passing you in that one pic. I've got it on my computer.
  13. Basically too long of a ground created too much resistance similar to a bad ground. I'm running 2 Gauge, so maybe 0 would do the trick, but it's money in the can if you ask me versus grounding to the frame and having a nice motor to frame ground. Currently all of my lights are like a campfire, both in amplitude and consistency.
  14. Placebo power! Yay!
  15. God bless them! Thanks for the link, Joe!
  16. Spray the rest with gloss black?
  17. From what I've been told by a friend of mine the biggest motor that could fit under the hood without removing the inner fenders and some majorly extensive modification would be a 400. I had been thinking of dropping a 454 in my '88, but was told it would never work. Is my friend just bull of BS? There's maybe two 454 XJs on NAXJA. Wouldn't be worth the effort if the main goal is wheeling. The 455 is an Olds engine, not a Chevy, so it's dimensions are different. I'm pretty into fab work though (as long as it's not on a DD, in which case I get angry), so running hoodless or fabbing up frame rails sounds like fun to me. As well, who truthfully wants a straight axle 2wd?
  18. Whatev. Everybody knows that Chevies are slow. Forgot you had a '91! Friend's '99 XJ was Fast! Don't know if it could beat a 3.4L Tacoma though. That's been my debate on my next motor swap is 3.4 vs 455.
  19. I can't believe you guys haven't met yet and live, what, 2 blocks away?
  20. Shiny!
  21. well that was better then i could do. i bet you fix that vac leak and you might be able to give me a run for my money. Alex Lol! 2.5, don't forget! Once this truck's done-ish, after I dovenose my '84 Toyota, and swap the rotary motor into my '78, I'll be looking for another comanche to drop a 455 into. That's when I'll cry over 22 seconds.
  22. that was the one thing i could over take on the highway with my 86. anything was too fast. and ppl hated it when i would pass a semi and take up the fast lane. Alex Hey, I can get it up to 80! Drove 70 all day (highway), and besides the rodknock (boo Kragens long blocks!) and almost 4000 RPMs, it did fine.
  23. LOL! This got brought up a lil bit back. It's down to about 22 with the new 4.56s!!! My excuse: Vacuum leak throwing off sensors 904 tranny I can still outrun a semi.
  24. Thread jack, but that'll cause a big vacuum leak. I've got it now and my sensors and brakes hate me.
  25. I wouldn't run a ground from a toolbox back to the block. #1, too expensive. #2, it sucks. I'm running a 4' long ground on my Toyota (under the seat) and it @#$%ed my electronics a bit quite.
