  1. Muffler shop will surely make you a Y-pipe like previously mentioned, 2.8L S10/Blazer and Jimmy Y-pipes may be close...
  2. 12v going to 0v under load is an indication of high resistance, check every connection point to include the fuse and sockets, that's where mine had a bad connection. I solved this by cleaning the sockets in the fuse block with contact cleaner and the blades on the fuses with fine sand paper or Scotchbrite pads.
  3. Hoping it's a easy vacuum issue... Right on thanks!
  4. The regulator is integral to the module right? I recently was diagnosing the CC on the MJ and found a defective multi-switch/stalk, replaced with a new one hoping for a quick resolution but no joy. I plan on thoroughly verifying all circuit inputs and outputs next and see what is going on there...
  5. Man this here info is awesome, I've been considering using my rusty 01 xj as a donor for the mj. The only thing stopping that is the xj's slosh box, I despise ATs, sure wish I could find me an NV3550 so the swap could happen...
  6. Hey Jeff, which upgraded alternator did you use? I recently installed a Dakota 160 amp into my 01 XJ and so far so good...
  7. OP, get you a Melling high volume oil pump and strainer and install them while you have the oil pan off...
  8. I recently upgraded the alternator on my XJ with a 160 amp one from ebay for 117 bucks brand new, local parts store wanted 180+ for a reman one putting out 100 amps. Hard to resist them online deals man...
  9. Well hell, I reckon these braces will not work with an 86, the radiator and mount stick out too much below the frame rails impeding the mounting of it. On the plus side, I also ordered a steel steering box spacer with the added fourth hole, that went in nicely...
  10. Glad to hear that the brace tightens things up with the steering, just yesterday I received the brace kit from Barnes, got lucky since the site always shows "sold out". Link below if you wanna, and no drop brackets necessary. I'll share some pics when I get a chance to install and kudos on the vid! https://barnes4wd.com/products/xj-steering-box-brace
  11. Solid as in they come on and stay on without blinking? If so, give the flasher a quick check by swapping with a known good one, and if an electronic one is available even better...
  12. Ground issue likely, verify that first...
  13. I learned something today...
  14. barely, I reckon 2.8L and 2.5L share same radiator spec?
  15. Mine has HD e-cooling fan alright...out of an Aerostar haha!
  16. Give that 2.8L some love and it will take you places...
  17. Sounds like connection issues with the ones you were handling when you did your parking brake work, double check again in the areas you were working with. Once you are sure all is good there, ensure that the starter relay is getting power from the ignition switch when you crank. A test light will be handy for this...
  18. In my case, I removed the CAD axle, the sleeve, the fork, the vacuum box and all related hoses. I left the support bearing in the axle housing, installed new seals and moly shafts and covered up the CAD hole with an aluminum plate included in the kit, done.
  19. So I ran into the Barnes site and they have a DIY long arm kit that I may consider over the Ironman one since some fabbing work is required either way, chime in if you have some input on this one. Hopefully I get to work on this during the upcoming winter months...
  20. Yeah man, I almost went this route before I pulled the trigger on the chromoly kit, but I got a good bundle deal at the time so I could not pass it up. One of my homies did what you did to his XJ and the process was easy peasy...
  21. I'm late to the party but if large tires are in your MJ's future, go with a 'moly shafts kit and be done...price is high though.
  22. Ima take them off my MJ and will be up for grabs once I bring it to TX, ETA late January...
  23. I think the limit is 25 years, no title is issued just registration IAW their website. If work sweetens it up with the move package I will have to deal with it then, we shall see...
  24. Ima be in trouble if and when I move to TX from AL since no titles are issued for my old crap in 'bama, I hope I saved the previous ones from when I moved there...
